Hey people, I recently got online with SOCOM 2, and it REAL CHOKE!!!!
Just wanna know if there are any other gamers out there (from TnT) who are online.  My SOCOM 2 name is "Arcman" as well.

I want to start or join a Trini SOCOM 2 clan.  Show these Americans a thing or two.

You gettin online in Trinidad with your PS2? Do you have to have a special hookup or something from TSTT. I know XBOX cant go online from Trinidad unless you have a direct connection to the US organized by TSTT

Damn.  Well done hoss.

I got SOCOM 2 also but no serial adapter.  If I get one maybe we could run a LAN game instead.  The local online console thing isn't that big yet what with our substandard 56k.

for real Imperial. I have DSL and emailed both Sony and MS about online connection from here and both said you couldnt get it. MS offers only to the US, Europe, Japan and i think now Australia as wella s US commonwealths like Puerto Rico and US army bases, but not here. SONY said they were UK, Japan and US based so no there as well. I would really like to find out how he is online. Right now the best i can get with online is using my GCN and Mario Kart double Dash with the broadband adaptor. You hookup through your PC to another persons IP and play. You need the Warp Pipe Project program to run it though, its not Nintendo online stuff atall. You can go online with HALO on your XBOX as well as games that support system links. You link up to Gamespy and can play.
But on LIVE and SONY ONLINE, i havent heard. Thats why im interested in finding out.

OK guys, here's how I made it come together:  1st off, you NEED TSTT's resedential broadband package (128k down/64k up). When the account is active you neeed to e-mail em and ask that their free 'firewall' be deactivated.  Since the broadband adapter that they supply can only be used with a PC, it goes without saying that you also need a PC to get online with the PS2.  Connection between the PS2 and the  PC is achieved via a CROSS-cable (if you dont have a hub).  Simply connect the PS2 Network Adapter to the PC's network card.
Connect to the internet and THEN turn on the PS2 and create a DSL connection using automatic settings. After that your're ready.  Just start up SOCOM 2 and choose the 'Online' option (obviously).  You will have to go through some profile creation stuff and then you're THERE MAN!!!!
SPECIAL NOTE!!!: You MUST be using an ORIGINAL SOCOM 2 disc, preferrably in an UNMODDED PS2.  Sony has this security protocol called DNAS (Dynamic Network Authentication System) which scans your PS2 to see if you have a mod-chip or Gameshark or Action Replay.  If you do have a modded PS2 and the mod-chip is the Magic 3.1, you can TURN-OFF the mod-chip by pressing and HOLDING the reset button until you see the 'Sony Computer Entertainment' come up on screen, but you still must have an original disc.  I have the Magic 3.1 and have gotten online with Need for Speed Underground as well.
WHEW!!!!    If anybody needs any other info, hit me up at jeremeyev@msn.com.

this guy sounds pro...hmmmm....well one thing i know for sure about the socom II online since i played socom I abroad:
1.they removed all gamesharks from being used for online play,so its hack free WoOT!
2.any hacker will get their ps2 liscense key banned from their servers DouBle WoOt
3.turrets are now usable in socom II (single and multiplayer)
4. the accuracy system has been put to full realisim,so any constant moving while shootingcauses a full 40% drop in the hit ratio
5. NO m11(grenade launcher) NOOBS WOOT!
6.from what i saw on a preview, was online play while on a chopper TrIpPle WooT

my problem:
none of my friends have broadband...LEVEL BALLS
we can play network 4p tho...all we need is a network adapter....since we have a four way usb cable (might i add doesnt lag one bit) you require four tvs tho but thats no problem for us
i tried it by a friend who had one,4p co-op or dmath is DREAD

your still a lucky mongolain mc
but ty for the info tho since ima get dsl in a while

One VERY important thing that i left out.  You MUST enable 'Internet Conection Sharing' on your PC that is connecting to the internet.  In Windows XP, you also have to choose which Local Area Connection that you want to share the internet connection with (if you have more than one network card in the PC).
Sadly, even though Zipper Interactive tried their very best to deal with the rampant cheating, players were STILL finding ways around, exploiting glitches in certain levels.  I personally experienced getting fragged 6 times from the same guy who found out how to hide in a tank and not get shot at.  This is some of the same shiznit that plagued the 1st SOCOM.  Salvation was delivered on March 10th 2004 in the form of a patch that all users HAD to download and save on their memory cards before they could log back on.  The patch fixed all the major glitches and exploits that players discovered and balanced out some of the weapons.  It even improved hit detection, so if de bullet hit yuh, it DAMN WELL hit yuh (stop bitchin).
NOW I can say that gameplay has improved, and did I mention its FREE FREE FREE (except for your internet charges of course).  No paying for logging on like XBOX live (sorry XBOX owners, heheheh).

so how is the online play for socom II?
cuz i heard the servers run extra smooth
and the latency is like WHOA
but all the glitches have been removed such as:
1. invisible players leaning on the wall
2. m15 smoke grenade explosion (accidently was made to act like an m79 frag)                           3. no clip through certain walls in some stages

socom II mp system has been heavily improved and is total anti-noob
this time you need to think with your head not your gun.

Nah man, the servers have rank rooms, so the real 'gunman' players cannot advantage new players.  Your rank is determined by how many times you finish the single player game.
Baego,  I will DEFINITELY bring my network adapter, the game, and my save file the next time I'm there.  One very important question: is your DSL account firewall (the TSTT free one) disabled?  If so, then cool.  If not, then you need to email em and ask em to.
