Watched it tonight and loved it. Didn't expect to either. The it was going to be garbage like Battle L.A. but it was a lot better. VERY cliche and corny at times, but overall a very entertaining movie. They reeeeeeally spent some money on the special effects. It looked damn good.

Fact for those who watched it already: Did you know that the scene where Hopper broke into the grocery at the beginning was based on a real incident?

Wow took this in weekend as well (note Blu Ray version has some INSANE Audio wow!)
Loved it as well, (went in expecting crap too)

 the little 'homage' they paid at the end was pretty awesome.

While that is generally good advice arc, due to limited time (or maybe an overabundance of entertainment options, lol) I tend to prioritize which anime/series/movies to watch based on the opinions of my fellow gaming brethren.

Found so many gems over the years on this very forum. They rarely lead me astray.
