WTB - Logitech Z5300 speaker...
« on: February 28, 2012, 06:23:24 PM »
Yeah, my front-right speaker sounds like it's about to tear itself apart at any time.

I need one of these...

Or if anyone knows where I can get a replacement, feel free to post that info here.

I'll have to compare the power, voltage and impedance specs, but I guess that -should- work.

One problem.  The connectors on the Z5500 satellites aren't RCA.  :(

Not about to cut and splice to macguyver anything nah.  I'd rather get an actual Z5300 speaker.

Ohhh.. damn that sucks. Damn you logitech >_>

Other option is getting a speaker from a lower model and trying that once it fits the specs. You'll loose some quality but its better than losing a channel right?

Hmmm... You're right you know... it isn't that hard.

You say you have 5.  Would it be possible for me to 'borrow' the left and right ones (front or rear) to try it out?

lol, yeah, making an rca isn't that hard at all, in fact, you could quite likely get them to do it for you at the electronics shop for free or chump change.

@ virtue, not using RCA on the Z5500 is widely considered a plus, not a negative.

You misunderstood. We have a set setting down at home so i know what the set up is. What i meant was, the lower model to the z5500 which is the z5300, i think shud have used the direct wire connectors over the RCA to bare wire. So meh

I'm still confused as to your meaning

are you saying you prefer the z5500 implementation over the z5300?

I actually prefer the z5500 method, as you can replace the bundled speaker wires with any length of your choice.

This bloody speaker is harder to replace than I thought.  I can't find the replacement driver anywhere, and the two places
I've gone to in Arima thus far says they don't have a cone small enough to fix it.  :(
I'm pretty sure that'll be the response everywhere I decide to check.

What a shame and a waste.

What i'm saying is, if you have 2 high end models for a speaker set, both within a similar time line, i figure you would make them the same in terms of set up. And Arc hit the nail there, easier to replace the wires instead of paying good money for overpriced ready made cables, or, having to make up cables for yourself, which is most time consuming

Without wanting to start a new topic, anyone has a full Z5500 system they willing to sell?
