Astronaut 1: Brother, I can't seem to open this milk carton.

Astronaut 2: In space, no one can. Here, use cream.

The girl who plays Mako in this movie has a strong resemblance to Faith from Mirror's Edge

Well I went to see this two times already. Don't have much to say other than it was everything I had hoped it would be.

Felt like a mecha anime come to life.

Great pacing, characters, impressive visuals and the Jaeger vs Kaiju fights were beautiful. If watching giant mechs beat the living sh!t out of undersea monsters sounds appealing to you, you're gonna love this.

Couldn't ask for more.

This was the review I posted on Facebook last night after I saw it:

"Somebody needs to make an anime of Pacific Rim... NOW. Hollywood made a Mecha film that wasn't bollocks. Hell, it was pretty good. As opposed to taking an anime and making it live action, this is a live action film that can be easily translated to anime and the mecha action herein can make any Gundam fan salivate.

"Man of Steel" is still Movie of the Year for me but this is a damn good 2nd place.

'Nuff said.

So apparently...'fanboy dollars' aren't enough for success: http://www.thewrap.com/print/103196

At least in America.

It amazes me that a movie like 'Grown Ups 2' could make more money than Pacific Rim...in America.
...but then I remember that this is the same demographic that gleefully watches reality-TV drivel like 'Honey Boo Boo'.  :(

Is it any wonder that American studios are unwilling to take a chance on ideas which may be deemed 'fanboy-centric'?

Keep waiting on that Naruto/Bleach movie.

I'm betting that Pacific Rim might end up making a LOT more money overseas.

OMFG

What an epic piece of sci fi this was.

Not only did they do the action flawlessly and clearly....unlike Transformers where half the time you didn't know WTF was going on...they did it powerfully. You felt the scale and weight of these behemoths as they clashed over and over again.

Directors can do whatever they want now with modern CGI yes. Imagination is the only limit. All of these can come to life on the big screen.

Shockingly, for such a testosterone laced flick, they even managed to tug on a few emotional heart strings. Had to choke back tears behind the 3D glasses at some points in the movie yes. Didn't want my fellow GATT brethren thinking I was a softie, lol.
