Samsung Galaxy Note 2
« on: August 29, 2012, 04:45:34 PM »
In a phrase...EPIC win. I am getting one at launch. That is all.

Here's a run down on what's changed from the og note (Engadget)

Only slightly disappointed with the slightly reduced screen res. It means though that watching video on this thing is going to result in NO black border! I can live with that.

2gb RAM, quad core and jelly bean pre-loaded.

I'll take one in gunmetal grey on launch day plix plox

Most impressive. Now that's how you do an upgrade!

I hope they give the Nexus the same kind of love.

From what I read early on, they said Samsung would still produce the next nexus.

http://www.cnet.com/8301-17918_1-57497369-85/rumors-fly-for-a-galaxy-nexus-successor/

It would be open game after that.

I was actually hoping motorola would have gotten an early crack and make something derivative of their excellent Droid 4 which still hasn't come to our market..... :(

Time will tell.

As you can see, the specs being touted around are hardly ground breaking. Just a smidgen lower than Samsung's own flagship S3.

If anything, it just brings the Nexus in line with modern offerings....but not ahead of them.

Still, I'll trade up when its released. Could always use a better camera and additional storage. The additional speed won't hurt either.

Questions for you note owners how do you carry the device around. Is it comfortable enough to hold in your pockets and is there any danger while sitting with it in your pant pockets.

Haven't had any issues it fits. When I use other phones they feel really small now lol. That said this is a niche device that may be too big for some. I enjoy the larger screen so the note 2 is a no brainer for me.

Woody had the original vision yes. I balked at first when he bought it but after a time I started warming up more and more to the idea of a man sized phone. Now, i can't settle for less.

Count me in for no issues walking around with it. I bet, if someone put the note in your pocket without you knowing what model it is, it would feel not much different than a 'normal' 4-4.3" device.

Two years ago, that size phone would make you the laughing stock. People used to call the iphone a brick.

Now we have tech stalwarts on this site advocating the humongous Galaxy Note. How times change.

Yeah but tablets weren't as popular a few years ago. I think of the Note as more of a hybrid phone/tablet....phablet :s  I don't really need a tablet, I prefer to have a large screen smartphone with me at all times. I am hoping the larger battery in the Note 2 gives better battery life though the bigger screen will draw more power I assume.

Exactly @ upsurge in tablet popularity. Phablet is (to us) the best of both worlds, wherever you go.

I used to think the Note would have been too big, but after seeing the sale war between digicel and bmobile, i just had to get one to be "different" and i haven't regretted it since. It fits in every pants pocket i have, it's a slender device and to be honest it will be weird using a smaller phone. I definitely don't need to buy a tablet, won't make sense with the Note to me. I will definitely aim to get that Note 2, Samsung made the device that suits me and I'm happy with it!
