Should have picked up some Vita earbuds, as you have a young one and the bundled ps4 headset is flimsy.

work great too. pick up an adapter for 3 dollars at a music store. Thought it was bluetooth since it has the ability on the headset, but doesnt seem that way. think there is a firmware update for it

Actually...that's a PX5 with COD branding.

I thought my adapter would work, but it seems I may need one of these.

Yes man... PS4 'lock d skeem'.  :laughing7:

Setup was nice and smooth. Discovered my network.  One small firmware update later...at the dashboard.



Things I like...

Interface is slick, clean, uncluttered, minimalist...just the way I like it.
Don't need a plethora of 'apps' getting in my way.

I like the fact that there's a separate section for system notifications.  Good for those moments when you would have missed one.

The way game audio and chat audio are now handled separately.
Hopefully a firmware update will allow more bluetooth headset compatibility.

Controllers are no longer hamstrung by proprietary charging standards.
They now use the almost universal micro-USB, and any cellphone charger 750 mAh and above will charge them...independent of the console.

Instant resume of gameplay.

Hassle free sharing of game discs.  :happy0203:




Things I DON'T like...

The fact that my PX5 headset's built-in bluetooth is 'incompatible' with the PS4. As of now, I have to rely on a cumbersome cable attached to the controller.
Again... I hope they address that in a future update.  I would HATE to have to buy another gaming headset.





I for one, am glad that Sony kept their focus, and didn't try to make the PS4 a 'one ring' media solution.  There's other devices for that.
This thing is built to be a gaming machine first.  Everything else is just a bonus.

Hopefully, I'll be getting a Killzone: Shadowfall disc borrowed today, so this weekend shall be officially dubbed 'Arcmanov's Killzone Beatout Bonanza' :laughing7:

I hope the bluetooth thing isn't an attempt to cash in on overpriced PS4 branded bluetooth headsets.

Microsoft made me buy two of those for the xbox. (First one broke in a week)

Any standard bluetooth headset SHOULD work

Also, IIRC, my old PS3 controllers could be charged external of the PS3 as well with standard mini usb cables Arc.

Lastly, have you used the Playstation app on your phone to chat?

Real not about typing messages using a gamepad any time in my life again.

Well, I just discovered you can use any old cellphone headset for voice-chat, or even game audio in a pinch, but only in stereo.
That's a pro that easily negates the con of not having Bluetooth connectivity for my PX5 for now.
