ChinaDIY has reported that AMD’s next-generation “Volcanic Islands” GPUs will be launched in October at the beginning of Q4 2013 and will not be released with the Radeon HD 8000 series branding.

This report is, of course, unconfirmed and highly speculative since we don’t have any information on these upcoming GPUs except for the codenames found in a leaked Catalyst driver last month.

This being said, the October release date is certainly plausible since Nvidia has launched its new 700 series GPUs, and Ross Taylor (AMD’s VP of Global Channel Sales) previously hinted that Battlefield 4 (which releases on October 29) may be included in a future Never Settle: Reloaded bundle and would be an ideal flagship title for the company’s new graphics cards.

I'm inclined to at least give AMD the benefit of the doubt that they have a worthwhile card in the works and wait till they release this and stack it against the 780.

If price and performance is right, hell, nvidia could get the boot this rounds.

Looks at Wyatt's current GPU. * AMD ATI HD6970*

Right....

I do expect their new GPU's to surpass the Titan and 700 series. Not that I'm a fan boy but looking at the numbers that the HD 7000 series dish out compared to the GTX 600 and 700 series, it is very possible that they will outperform Nvidia.

Also going on the idea that both Microsoft and Sony have decided to use AMD over Nvida for their console choice says a lot as well. But that's just my opinion of course.

They need to sort out their recurring CrossfireX driver issues before I will consider buying any of their cards again.

I already own that card. Rest assured I will not be buying a new ati card.

Linux support is a critical feature for me. I cant understand why they would drop support on old cards.

Was working PERFECTLY fine in my htpc.

AMD drivers working fine on my laptop (HD6760 effective, it's a firepro workstation) and I even sweat Dota2 yesterday... I don't know what this driver issue wyatt having is about

O_o

Steam even updated the drivers to beta drivers for me from the official ones. No problems so far.
