PC Gaming in Ultra High Definition
« on: September 19, 2013, 10:38:37 AM »

We take the ASUS PQ321 monitor for a nice test spin and check out PC game performance at Ultra High Definition, that would be a whopping 8 Mpixels resolution of 3840x2160 ! So please do join me, we'll start off with a quick overview of the monitor, then we'll do some regular benchmarking at UHD and then some FCAT results. Lets check what the new revolution in PC gaming can be...

good review, besides the grammatical errors....but TT$30,000 for a gaming monitor?

Too rich for my blood.

I could buy every next gen console and three gaming PCs for that. lol

Still, nice to get a glimpse of what the future holds

By this time next year, when NVidia new crop of GPUs release, when other OEMs hit we UHD monitors (dell), and when prices come down and d tech mature, that will be such a sweet gaming experience.

NVIDIA introduces its Battlebox PC program for 4K gaming, powering the LHC

Quote
Okay, okay, NVIDIA's "Battlebox" PCs won't quite power the Large Hadron Collider, but it will offer more power than you'll need to play basically any game available (or any game arriving in the coming holiday deluge). The initiative focuses on NVIDIA working with several boutique PC makers to provide 2-way SLI setups on its GTX 780 and Titan GPUs, capable of supporting gaming in 4K resolution. Only EU providers are announced thus far, but NVIDIA says it will arrive in North America too.

Of course, with great power comes great cost -- Chillblast's Fusion Battlebox, for instance, starts at £2999.00 (about $4870), and Maingear's Shift starts at $2,300 -- so you'd better be ready to shell out some serious cash for 4K gaming.

Yes, this is what steambox should have been, and yea, this is focused squarely on high end, but if they have some budget friendly versions, this will be very nice.

Well I guess steam machines will take care of the budget varieties.

BattleBox is a decent name and a nice nod to the speculated (and seo laiden) Steam Box.

Hell, it has even more weight to it.

I hate "boutique" used in reference to any high end gaming PC. Please make them stop. lol
