Phone Change Debate (Apple's need not Apply)
« on: August 21, 2014, 09:45:32 AM »
Okie Dokes Folks

Here's the sitch. I've got a NOTE 3, while it serves as a great phone and does everything I want it has a few shortcomings.
1. it's massive and is literally warping the pockets of my pants.
2. I have no need for the stylus and size of the phone's capabilities.

So i'm in the market for a new phone. But with the Sheer options of Android phones out there. But I've gotten a much better sense of what I use my phone for and therfore the needs I have.

1. Music, I LOVE music, I have a lot of music on my phone so much so that the Note 3 is almost full and 80% of that is music - SO i need a phone with a large/expandable memory available. (larger native would obv be better)
2. Fitness - I run, I box and a number of other things and as such I need a phone that's not a little bitch with sweat/water/protein powder etc.
3. I'm a klutz and find that Tech21 makes the best damn cases ever (dont believe me, google it.) SO if Tech 21 makes a case for it, EVEN better.
4. Decent screen/Sound quality, I don't really ever get a chance to watch movies/shows on it.
5. SPEED - I multitask a LOT, music, whatsapp, googling images, replying to emails it has to have the ability to handle that quickly without much lag. Something I've NOTEiced happening here.

I'm not allied to Samsung specifically, but I do want an android phone

The only phone I can recommend is the HTC One. Be wary of which one you buy because the HTC One is available in Android & Windows Phone. And be wary of the SIM Sizes..
Specs:  http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one-5313.php

P.S. The HTC One is best known for its Beats Audio front speakers. Perfect for watching videos/movies etc.

I agree that HTC might be you're best choice. It has the best speakers on any phone, so your audio needs are set with that, it has a design that very comfortable in the hand, exceptional build quality with its uni-body metal casing, has a really good screen and multitasks like a boss.

You may however want to go with the HTC One M8 if you want micro-sd support. The original HTC One doesn't have this option. Check out this review and see if it's something you'd like.

I had a Htc M8 and loved it then i got a Xperia Z2 and loved that even more. Don't get me wrong the M8 is a great phone with excellent capabilities but at least for me the Z2 has it beat except when it comes to speakers nothing beats the speakers on the m8, everything else is xperia z2 hands down.

I don't necessarily need the boss speakers, I prefer headphones.

Why anyone would give up a Galaxy Note 3 is beyond my mind's comprehension right now... I literally have no words.....

Is better yuh pump wit a Blu Dash yes.  It cheap enough so that if yuh klutzy self drop it, yuh could buy a nex one.

^^ I think the main drawback of that is the size.

As a previous Note user, I can concur. The nexus form factor is heaven.

No looking back.

I was joking about the Blu Dash of course.

Seriously...take a good look at the Sony Xperia Z2, or the Galaxy S5.
Both phones have flagship specs, 'average' size, and sufficient waterproofing so that sweat shouldn't be a concern.

Bloatware is no longer a problem with root + Titanium Backup.
You can disable/uninstall all the bloatware to your heart's content...or just install a custom ROM with all the 'bloat' removed.

What so hard in that?

XDA can be such a good friend...but YOU have to want it.   :)
