You people of GATT. I have finally finished secondary school and I have live out the vacation that I have waited for for 5 years. DUring this time, I kept my promise of building my own system so I would no lognger be one of those guys having to wait on people to play games ont eh free computers available to those who come with their hands swinging.   The system has the following stats as of now:

Black Case with side window ond front Neons
ASUS A7V8X-X Motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2600
256 DDR 400 RAM (333MHz System Bus)
160GB Seagate Baracuda Hard Disk Drive
Chaintech Geforce FX5200 128MB DDR AGP8X Graphics Card
Sony 12X DVD-RW Drive (Bay 1)
Lite On 52x24x52 CD-RW Drive (Bay 2)
Logitech Z-640 5.1 Stereo Surround SOund COmputer Speakers
AOC 17" Black Monitor

I plan on bringing the machine to sweat with the rest of the big guns of a GATT sweat, so lemme know when and where y'all gonna sweat next, and I will  try to be there

THanks for the feedback guys, both positive & negative. It'll show my faults and where I need to imporove a bit. Close to the end of my course @ SBCS, the following upgrades will take place:

A full interior blue neon kit to match the frontal ones
512MB of the same RAM
An upgrade to the AMD Athlon XP 2800/3000

Now, what will help me is if someone will show me the light to where I can obtain a price for these. The sooner the better, and when I get a good deal I will give them the sale. As you can see, I paid a good bit for the hardware, so you know I will want the upgrades. So those who know pwople or who have thigns to sell, check me, I just might give you the sale

ima give it to straight mang, that case is cheap and tacky. so are the so called custom neon cathodes. ain't nothing custom about them. why waste scrilla on a 12x dvd-rw when u could have gotten an 8x and use that extra dough for more ram. your motherboard is whack too. (don't feel bad i have one also but im not a pc gamer.) and why go with a 160 HDD when you could have done two 2 smaller ones. u r assed out if that drive crashes. this machine is good for word processing, not good for gaming.

Oh, my bad son. I just caught that you just finished school. well considering your cash must be low, then you have a good machine.

not cause you dont like somethings mean he did bad you know.
so what if he got neons. i have neons and i enjoy the glow out of the little window at the side which shows off my expensive parts. while i agree that 12x is a waste its about the what $300+ more than the 8x. thats the decision i came to when i bought mines. as for the hard disk, they are more reliable than you'd think. just cause its larger doesnt mean youll get less life from it. hard disks tend to last anywhere from 4 to 7+yrs.
all in all its not a ubber gaming system but with some more RAM and a better graphic card it good enough for games like doom3 and half life 2. so theres no need to imps the man up or belittle his system. id love to hear you specs.

THanks for the feedback guys. I started off the DDR 400, cuz it was all I coulda get, afterall, I only worked part time. I know the case how it is and whatnot, but I mean it's not what's on the outside that counts, it's how it performs, am I nor tight guys? I mean I coulda take a toilet for a case and still have d best gaming machine out there. I have managed to get a 35 FPS+ with need for Speed: Underground (this figure is an estimate due to frequently fluctuating read outs.) It can run most of the latest games well and I think it suite me very well for now. Later on, when I am working, I intend to do some more upgrading when I have cash at hand. What I would like is for the experts here to toss out suggestions as for what componenets to get as I plan to upgrade

WEll, I can only improve of the criticisms. Hearing you guys comment on my system will only aid me in making my next set of upgrade decisions. I already gonna get some more memory and a Processor upgrade. I also plan on doing a water cooled system like the new Apple Powermac G5. I gonna look for the scematics for it and look around in my case and see if it can be done
