I was pondering the future of doubles as a staple meal of the country ... We should be able to freeze dry / preserve doubles for export and still allow it to maintain most of its flavour , why the western world , especailly bachelors , eat frozen microwavable foods all the time , frozen pizza , frozen burritos , this should be a welcome addition to the easy to prepare list of tasty foods.... frozen doubles, in 3 versions , no pepper , slight pepper , and REAL pepper....
Also other local dishes that are fairly compact eg. bake and shark could make it to the table of foreigners , i could see it now... men at quake con munching on freshly microwaved doubles, bawling from the pepper , shark and bake becoming the preferred dish for collage students around the world ... Kurma bieng sold alongside M&Ms at a grocery store ... the possibilities are endless .
Seeing as we cannot compete with the rest of the in production of many other things other than raw materials eg. Oil, gas , sugar . we should begin to specialize in things that are 'local' , patent them , and export them to other nations , foods for example .

nah, that freeze dry / preserve doubles thing, it aint go cut it.... it wouldnt be the same at all, if you go to any sort of roti shop away, that is run and owned by forigners, it wouldnt be the same.....

I see where you going, but, it aint go work, atleast not right now....

But I figure, going E3 next year (providing that im not in school) And sell doubles out side

, well its an idea....

And on another note, my aunt (local woman) went away and opened up a roti shop, and well it isnt a million $ franshise, but from that one shope alone, shes living QUITE comfortable...

frozen roti / doubles tastes good toured out and microwaved , once the barra is of high quality , freeze dried ain't go cut it in truth , but frozen lets some of the water keep the barra and channa moist .

and not to mention, up there, money does go real far. Not a bad idea at all.

The foods we get in the microwave ready packs right now don't taste like the real thing either. So is no scene if the doubles doesn't taste 100%.

doubles is a dangerous commodity actually...taste good when fresh but when stale can be deadly (unless u got iron guts like many trini ppl)

yea , people should turn doubles into a legitemite business, start a resturant selling fresh doubles 24/7 , maybe bake and shark, offer calaloo as a side dish.....
Truly frozen doubles will be a tough thing to stomach , how about canned calaloo?? before campbells and them tief we local dish and call it' Cambell's Bajan Soup ! '

the frozen thing ive done it wit dem MONSTEROUS UWI doubles
and it was ok
but i tink the trick is that u put the channa seperate to the bara
so they dont intermingle and wat not
heat it same time jus keep it seperate
and pull the bara out first

that is get REAL HOTT FAST
