guys,

great news.

I had a meeting with them yesterday and it sounds very promising!

They are working on a special package for us as well as an awesome plan for local game server hosting. Stay tuned. Will be able to share the details by tomorrow.

This could very well be the answer to our prayers and probably the reason TSTT increased their residential DSL bandwidth. They must have known this was coming. It won't be enough to save them though.

sweeet ! just make sure the pings are at least as good as TSTT DSL, and stable , also give us an ETA on them setting up service in places like grande, deep south, and arima (my mc suffering with dialup, i take 3 refreshes to load this page ! )

I only read Trinis post about the physical limits of ADSL being higher than that of a T1... I understand why his cred went minus there... *sighs* i'm a bit late here but a T1 is 1.544Mbps DEDICATED guy, ADSL has a physical limit of 512kbps in T&T and that fluctuates with usage. ANyways we've all come to expect these kinda outbursts from him.

lol @ 512k limit of dsl

w1ntry, we have had dsl in trinidad and downloaded at well over 160k

That translates to 1.280Mbps.

I've seen this with my own eyes so we are not limited to 512k.

TSTT also offers far greater speeds than 512k dsl. Our company has a 1mb dsl from tstt at the south office.

lol

moral of the story, don't jump up too hard on trini's case of carib just yet when we all make statements that can be proven to be flawed.

instead take the time to enlighten him without the edged comments and insults.

suhuweat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No website for green.com just yet. That is in the works. Fear not.

well anyway.. if this offer is valid and offered in PT , I'm in.

umm... i'm lost there, how did 160k translate to 1.28Mbps? and I know about ADSL T1s offered by TSTT, however I beleive those are created by bundling multiple ADSL lines into one as UWI does with its Sastudents domain, they bundled about 10 lines and believe me i've seen close to 500kbps on that when noone else is using it. Downloaded 2 Naruto eps in like 5 mins (not the rvmb files the avi, thats like 300MB+).

where i used to work (not sure of the package they took) ...but i remember downloading @ 120KBPS ...so convert it to BITS (for those who dont know ...x8) 960kbps........so according to what trini say he have see 160KBPS ...x8 = 1280kbps

There is a difference between theory and Tstt! I have used T1 dsl lines abroad, so dsl does not have a 512k limit there. Also please note that Green's system will be wireless with no wired backbone ( unless they run on tstt fiber lines or run their own ) so the interisland bandwith will be limited to the number of access points they put down. The system they will be most likely using will be motorolas canopy system, something I have tested myself, the subscriber units are limited to 512k for now with the access points limited to 108mb, this will likely increase as the technology matures, it's also off the shelf kit, in use in Kenya, Australia and a few other countries with difficult terrain and long distances between civilization. Also unlike Tstt they have a great advantage when it comes to costs, for about $150,000 us they can blanket the island ( or as motorola likes to say CANOPY the area )  and service up to 100,000 homes anywhere! This is based on motorolas advanced small spread community over 2000sq miles plan. What I worry about is Green's Vsat link out of the island, the ping times will be in the 300ms + range unless they figured out a way to transmitt faster than light ( still working on that myself but I don't tink I can get around E=mc^ )
