2005 News Letter Issue #1

(1/1)

TriniXaeno:
Hello and welcome to GATT 9.0, our latest development effort at Carigamers,

This is our first newsletter for 2005 and we are pleased to start off with some good news. The arduous process of merging the GATT 5.0 (php Bulletin Board) and 6.0 (Invision Pro Board) databases together is now complete and available online as of 11:59 PM April 2nd 2005.

The result can be found at:

http://gatt.carigamers.com or http://www.gatt.co.tt (for the old school members)

What does this mean?  Simply, that the majority of GATT forum posts over the years are now restored! Everything from Lan Party reports to Fan Art.

Some things are structurally changed so take your time to feel around the site and get accustomed to all the new features, most important being the “profile” section. Update your personal info, instant messaging contacts, email, birth date, etc...

The new board brings with it a new look and some cool features. Most of you will welcome the ability to collapse forums. Not a technology fan? Collapse the entire "Tech Talk" section so it won't clutter your view. You can always expand it later if you have a change of heart.

A more comprehensive list of new features can be found online @ http://gatt.carigamers.com/index.php?topic=5454

Work continues on merging the Jamaican and Bajan sites as seamlessly as possible and as a result you will notice we have a few new administrators on board. Welcome our caribbean neighbours, Ropy, Nastrodamus and GodKid.

Need help finding your way around? Do not hesitate to ask. The Moderators and Admins are ready and willing to assist.

Also, we have moved to a new home with our own nameserver. The site now runs off an AMD Dual Opteron server configured with 20GB storage, 2GB ram and a 250GB bandwidth limit on an OC12 backbone. All that tech jargon translates into faster, more reliable Carigamer Websites with tons more content!

This is just the beginning. Expect cosmetic upgrades, adjustments to the site, fine-tuning, bug trapping, additional features and more in the coming months.

Don’t think all this online fuss has stopped real world progress. Plans are well under way for Caribbean GameCon 2005, GigaGames2005 and ESWC2005. Those should provide enough tournament action and prizes to keep even the most competitive gamer happy. Look to http://www.carigamers.com for details. That site is also undergoing a revamp to accommodate the local leg of the Caribbean ESWC event. This is being sponsored by Intel and Nvidia so we need to kick into high gear to ensure the look and feel is commensurate with such a prestigious event.

Got a suggestion? Want to help? Found a problem? Interested in Advertising? Willing to sponsor? Let us know! We welcome any and all contributions towards making 2005 our most succesful year yet!

Well that's it. Take part in the community, participate on the forums and most importantly, Suhuweat!!!!!!!

Regards, The Carigamers Team
