they DO mention the radeon 8500, which was made to one-up the geforce 3(direct x 8). Geforce 4's(Ti versions) should be able to run it, and it should at least start on a 5200, though framerate may be painful :)
:P random text doesn't go out of date does it?

boy, we runnin de demo long time and it is awesome

Works like a dream on the 6600GT, 1280x960 4x AA

The fx 5200 runs it. Not great, but it runs it.

Same for the FX 5500

Definitely a runner for Multiplayer Game of the Year.

This game really and truly is making me consider getting a new video card...I mean, I can already say I AM going to get this game. But I should do it justice and play it in all its glory...and plus, I wanna get HL2, and I doubt that my 5200 would be able to run it, or run it well anyway....

strangely enough, the 5200 does HL2

I mean, I know it scales well but it truly is impressive to see the performance of the game on such a shitty card.

You're right about doing bf2 justice though. That game DESERVES all the 3D power it can get!

Confirmed...the 5200 can handle it...installed it on the 3 PC's here in the office that can handle it...

I might even replace the HaloCE server with it, if you guys want...just need to make sure that I can install the Dedicated Server component on my Win2K3 box...will give it a go a lil later today...and update you on that.

5200 can handle it at low settings , though it lags to heck , my brothers 8500 plays it real good , but you best have  a 6600gt / 9800 pro to enjoy it .

lags to heck you say? Didn't notice that when I was playing it earlier this morning...in fact, I was most impressed by the way the card handled this beast of a game...I expected MUCH worse. Just updated the drivers to 77.72 ...will have to take another go at it lunch time to see if it helps or hinders...

5200 cards differ alot , some people sell crap 64 bit models that are alot slower than what OEMS give out eg. dell , still the 5200 will die with even medium settings ,

Hard luck fellas...look like a more fire for the hosting of a local BF2 server...requirements a lil too high...

Quote
WINDOWS

- Minimum Specification, based on playing a 16 player game:
  CPU: 1 Ghz
  RAM: 384 Mb

- Recommended Specification, based on playing a 64 player game:
CPU: 3 Ghz. For AMD Athlon 64 CPU: 3500+ (2.2 Ghz)
  RAM: 1 Gb

BANDWIDTH

- Minimum
  2.5 Mbit

- Recommended
  5Mbit

Server is a dual P3 550MHz...and has 1GB RAM, but the bandwidth dred...we definitely ent have no 2.5MBit...plus it nagging me about the OS not being WinXP...pressura...

But there's plenty of sub-200 ping servers to go round out there...I been playing on quite a few of em...this game is definitely a contender for GOTY!

strange enough the bf2 works very good with my 6200  on my old system
specs list
3200 a64,512 ddr400.neo4,6200 256 mb pci-e

and in the cyber cafe down here systems are only 5200 128mb chaintech and it works good barton 2600s,512 ddr333

the performance sheets arent always right imo

if greendot weren't a pile of greasy sticking mcs we might have a WLAN server that  would be filled by 2-3 internet cafes and green dot clients , the canopy network is rated up to 6mbit   and the pings are 30-40 ms , we could easily get a 3mbit WLAN connection if we fork the cash .
From my experience with playing BF2 it only needs about 128k to work good , me and Pr0wl used the same 256k DSL line to play and it worked great , at 128k per client for a 16 man server you would need a 2mbit connection to run smoothly ...... no one in trinidad can provide that kind of bandwidth unless you pay 10 000 tt + a month , it would be cheaper to get 10 seperate DSL lines than to pay for a T1 ......

yeah stress with green.

Maybe someone else will come forward and deliver on the dream.

As for the performance on machines, it won't work great on a 5200  Kaizen. It will work, but not great.

Not on a 5500 either.

Try playing the game at 1280x1024 with settings on medium with one of those cards.

Serious molasses iymc.

Yes, it will run passable at 800x600 all setting on low, but it's an ugly affair. Looks like something that came out in 2001. Not like  a WTFOMGPWNED!! Game of the Year candidate.

It is a shame to let these awesome games be watered down by under performing 3d hardware.

Really is.

Straight case of economics, I know...the mc kick ass cards are still too expensive for the mainstream.

Lotto iwmc

6600GTs for everyone!!!

a 9600  pro will play it great , i downclocked my 6600gt to 200mhz/500 mhz, which puts it on the same level as the 9600 , and it played fairly smooth at 1024x768 high settings , problem is trinidadian stores sell these cards for over 1000tt when they are  going for 75 USD on the net .
maybe buy trinidad should order a few dozen of them from newegg and sell them for 500-600 tt ? it would still make a profit and help gamers everywhere move up in life .
