Yes, no cheating.

By our best estimation, the weird happenings in the game were due to network issues.

Remember, 80 machines with people playing games, copying data, etc...all at the same time is a recipe for chaos.

They were told to use the tournament machines, on a separate switch, but insisted on using machine about two switches away. Encountering much more traffic and asking for network issues.

Next time we will insist that the tournament be played on the tournament network, apart from the rest of the LAN traffic.

The final verdict was that the players under question were not cheating.

Ultimately, having officials watch the entire match proved so. In the future, for such matches we will have no choice but to have a squad of officials monitoring the game.

Yeah iceman, next year will be better for sure.

During the holidays iwmc. Need to book the venue from early o'clock to get it.

And don't worry, we will make it up to the CoD players. League iymc.

Something you all could probably discuss as well is having staple fighting games for tournaments.  When I say this I mean not just choose games the organizers like etc. but preferrably games that will enable those participating to get experience for international tournaments.

If you go with this mindset, you won't have just one or two competitors who can only hang in one event each but instead, you'll have a team on individuals set on bringing down the competition.  Get a feedback on what games are being played by the VXG committee and you'll have a list.

I'm saying this for the benefit of those who have the skill but not the fare to get to St Marten next year.

Well Imperial, the games were chosen based on feedback from the gamers and the Tournament Team.

Next year will be the same.

The Arena tournament registration included a survey asking which games the competitors were interested in. That data will help determine the event roster for Arena 2006.

It is not about forcing people to play the big tournament games on the international scene as much as it is about hosting events that the Trinidad gaming populace are interested in and actively play. Remember, turn out is important.

If those two happen to be one and the same then great!

As luck has it, at least four of our staple events for Arena 2005 are big international tournament games for 2006. (Namely, Call of Duty, Tekken 5, Soul Calibur 3, Fifa 2005/6)

If you have other games you think should be included, be sure to drum up support for it and have the gamers come out and represent. Even host mini tournaments at GLs to hype up the scene. We will gladly provide the facilities.

Once a game is active and popular on the local scene it stands a great chance of getting on the roster!

I personally think that Arena should not of been held in the stadium..... however the location did have its benefits in the amount of room to move around

In lookin at the comin arena tourney in 2006 what we should look at is relocation ..

I recommend the Centre of Excellence in Macoya

It has two levels..... the lower level could be used for different gaming tourney such as xbox, playstation and also the trade show

While in the upper level could be where the machines are located

There is a large hall area so other tournies like Yugio and other trading card games could be placed away from the main attractions but not totally isolated

There is a stage area where annoucments could be made...... and behind this, there is a big screen that the final battles could be showcased.

Those of you that are advent attendies of the ever popular Anime City would know the general outlook of the place however sources have told me that it could be a lil expensive and that the palce is booked for events very early

thus for the up and comin Arena of 2006 we should move quick and serious about what we are doin to avoid the mistakes of 2005.

Arena has alot of potenial and I'm set aback by those who had nothing else to say but to highlight the misfournutes of the event.....

Healthy criticisms are always welcomed but it is also unproductive to criticize and not make suggestions of how to make things better

Well the main issue with Centre Of Excellence is the price, is a good chunk of change they go be demanding, and then we hadda make sure that power issues are handled properly again...

With that said, I agree with looking to have there as a location for the next Arena event, it's a good location, plenty space, the main hall there will be airconditioned, and it'll be a cool lime in there...

I believe I've read that the winners of Arena 2006 will be afforded a ticket to take part of the tourney in St Marten next year.

Keeping that in mind, would it be prudent to have people playing tournaments like MK Deception and win only to realize there will be no event for them after making the pilgrimage?

Arena is not a 1 trick Pony.

After the incredible turn out for Tekken, you can be sure it will be on the roster again.

Same for Fifa.

The survey is really to give other games a chance to get on the event schedule.

It hardly unlikely that a game like Xmen vs Capcom will come out on top of Tekken/Soul Calibur in the survey.

If it happens, so be it (but I seriously doubt it judging from Arena 2005)

Like I said, given the number of games run at Arena, there will surely be events held at the international level for some of them.

For example. Last year for GigaGames 2005 they had Tekken, NFS (which was eventually scrapped) and Winning Eleven. We sent our winners for Tekken.

Whereas the winners of SOF didn't go anywhere since there was no SOF at Gigagames.

Understand?

@ that statement imperial
mainly because tekken was serious at that time and they sent the players we were positive bad man bryan would kick ass
but in future dealings etc there are games that are going to be looked at and played to see if there serious and we have world class players to enter sponsoring to go to a competition and not bringing back the cream of the crop is pretty hard yuh know
ive gone to interntational tourneys in 2002-2003 paid my own ticket if you can why not try that ? ^_^
also stating arent we looking also at local played games and what locals think is the competition  round here im jus stating something that should be taught of cause everyone is thinking IF THE OTHER COUNTRIES DO IT and its international level we should do it to ...i had alot of mis taughts with sof but i was corrected by shizz "its not what they play up there its whats considered competition down here "

my $2.99

lol @ imperial.

listen and listen well. It takes a lot of work to achieve something like that. (An international trip to represent the country in a video game)

We are not about to go through all that effort for half baked competitors.

The tekken players were considerable and more importantly, consistent. They really came out and supported the whole process. Through and through.

If other players would get off their butts and rally for their games in a similar fashion, then they too will be treated with the same attention.

For instance, guys came down to HQ saying that "Game X" would be the better tournament game. In turn,  I challenged them to show me the numbers. Bring out the multitude of "Game X" players and run a tourney or so. We would provide the facilities.

They have yet to return.

Not serious.

You catch my meaning?

We have only to look to the attendance at Arena and previous tournament to see who the real competitors are. To see those who not only talk about competitive gaming but are walking the walk.

Kaizen, I already plan on paying for my own ticket to go St Marten next year.  However, I'm tossing that up with the idea of going to the US instead.  I know I'm guaranteed to find good players and where to find them.  Pretty much, the deciding factor for me is mainly that eenie meenie game.

Like I said before, I'm just trying to get a word in for the unspoken mass of nameless gamers.....all 2 of them.
I'm not hinging myself on anyone's plans here.
