but ouch at the card's performance in F.E.A.R

The 7800 GTX pumps out exactly double the frames.

that said, still looks like a good card though I think the 6800 GS still looks more attractive price/performance wise.

Stepping up to that card isn't gonna be worth the extra moola if F.E.A.R is still gonna chug.

Here is a piece from techreport.com that says exactly what I wanna say (but in so much better words)

The value comparison between the 7800 GS and some of NVIDIA's own current offerings is less flattering. At about $200, the GeForce 6800 GS boasts the same basic feature set as the 7800 GS without that much of a performance penalty. I'm not sure I'd pony up the extra $100-150 for a 7800 GS unless I were really serious about hanging on to my AGP system for quite a bit longer. And hanging on to that system starts to look foolhardy when you consider the PCI Express-based graphics options, such as the GeForce 7800 GT, a superior performer than the 7800 GS that's selling for about $300 at various online shops. That's the low end of the projected price range for the 7800 GS. The grass is indeed greener in PCI Express pastures. NVIDIA says it has no plans to produce a GeForce 7800 GS for PCI Express, and we can see the logic if the pricing looks like this.

I'd never buy it. $300

It's their way of milking agp users. $300 for a 16 pipe card now? gimme a break. I'd much rather buy a stock 7800GT for less and upgrade my mobo for $60 (lucky me, i'm on 754 athlon64)

Tha Gainward card would be good for someone in my situation, who still uses AGP with a socket 939 CPU. The PRICE however is always a mitigating factor. How much TT is 400 Euros?
For that money, is better I upgrade to PCIe and buy a midrange videocard. Like the 6800 GS.

Yuh have to take into account that everything in EUro land is more expensive, expect them to be less in US, if/when Newegg gets them I am sure they'll be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper.

If you're on 775, 754, 939, or even 478 and lucky (the mobo is hard to find), it's better to upgrade to pci-e and buy the 7600GT, or shoot for a 7900gt.
