Film facts and the like...
« on: September 11, 2006, 11:54:13 AM »
This thread is designed for you guys to put any strange, cool, advancements or any other facts that you noticed
in movies. Anything that is unorthodox or interesting.

Here's an example...
For those who didn't know.
Collateral was shot with the Viper FilmStream Camera. This gave a feel of reality and involvement.
I mean I don't know about you but the movie looked quite real...a documentary-like feel to it and there was
great editing on top of that so the film was more involving than average films. This was the first movie to use this camera
and recently Miami Vice used the same camera in some shots...others were shot with a 35 mm.

So any other facts or coincidences...anything out of the ordinary that you think may be overlooked or find intersting,
post on this thread..laters  ^_^

  ???

You didn't like it...I though it looked kinda cool. The overuse of the shaky cam could've been avoided...but it had effectiveness nonetheless.

Eveyone's a critic -_-

Here's some more movie facts for you
(I know you probably guessing who the f*** cares right...whatever....)

Anyways....for the movie Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom, didyou know that for the mine cart chase they crinkled up foil and painted it with different shades of earth colors to get the rocky effect
With proper cinematography and lighting effects it looked like rock and soil. Cool huh?
Also more facts...FYI, because of the level of violence and gore in this film and the controversy, due to the fact that the content was inappropriate for younger viewers, Steven Spielberg  got the MPAA to create the new film rating at that time (1985 I think)PG-13
At the time there were only 4 ratings. G, PG, R and NC-17...So...now you know!

I finally got around to watching Miami Vice last night.  I actually liked it.  The camera effects added to the overall experience, IMHO.  As a big fan of the original t.v. show (when it was all new on t.v.), I found it to be along the same style as the show.

Factoid:

In the Princess Bride,  When Count Rugen hits Westly over the head, Cary Elwes told Christopher Guest to go ahead and hit him for real. Guest hit him hard enough to shut down production for a day while Elwes went to the hospital.
I'd believe u if you were right.

in Starsky & Hutch,   during the scene with Vince Vaughn and Snoop on the golf course, the director told vince to slap snoop ( but didnt tell snoop)

so snoop took the slap ( notice the genuine look of surprise  on his face)  and stayed in character.. but was not amused.. lol

In the Old Star Wars films...ever wondered how they made that "breathing" sound effect for Darth Vader.
basically Sound Designer Ben Burtt, placed a mic in a scuba tank regulator and he breathed into it. So...what you get is one of the most sinister and menacing sounds in the Star Wars universe and probably in movie villians' history
