slow speeds help

bought a usb enclosure manhathan hi speed usb enclosure. i went through the setup like the manual said pc recognized it so everything was installed ok, then i went ahead and transfer some files to it but the speed i got were about .80 mbps which is really slow can anyone help me get a faster speed thnx in advance

and ah little more detail, give meh the serial no or model, is a hdd enclosure i assume, so is sata or ide

I had such a problem with an enclosure once...turned out that the enclosure itself was faulty. Any problems with any other data intensive USB device?

make sure yuh have usb 2.0 for starters.

but those usb enclosures are prone to problems indeed.

I have two given me real stress right now. Nothing lasts forever but jeez these things fragile.

Yeah USB 1.1 is  your problem there. If you're using Windows XP, it should have come up saying that "This device can perform faster" etc etc and that a usb 2 device is plugged in a 1.1 port. Easiest option is to get a pci usb 2.0 controller card which will give you the speed. Short of that, the whole mainboard will have to change.
