Title: Benchmark Rum Shop
Post by: W1nTry on June 20, 2007, 03:46:55 PM
Aight, this thread will be dedicated to bigging up or bussing men down based on their acheivements in OCing, benchmarks, or FPS etc. Please post all those bigs up from the Summary thread here as they were cluttering that thread with posts not really intended for that thread. Enjoy and continue to big up men or buss dem down as the case may be.

lawwwwd check that cpu score in 3dmark 06 dani just fling up dey. I wanna see Arc  beat THAT ahahaha.

:dropjaw:  @ that CPU score.  I bet he had to OC the PANTS off of that
to reach that score.  I can beat it, but it will take some work.  I may even need
faster RAM too (DDR2-1066?).  A BIOS update is definitely in order.

Actually, that's his score at just about 100mhz overclock...and he wasnt really even trying to overclock. If I had my hands on that cpu...imagine the cutarrrsreeeee Arc go get after I done ocing that biatch.

Enjoy it biatches.  I'll soon fix that.  :evil3:

Currently running VERY stable at 3.24 GHz, and it can still go further.

if it's stable, then that IS really impressive!!

so... by the time i come back from Tobago next weekend my CPU score gonna be old news... sighs  :BangHead:

Well...for a cpu that cost no less than four times as much as mine, I would expect nothing less than at least four times the performance...wait...hold the phone...its not four times the performance? three times? twice as fast? no?...just about 400 odd marks difference? I said g@dddamnnnn!!!!!

Scores updated, with pics, and oh yeah, Super Pi is ballz.  (just my opinion)
My only concern is gaming/performance benchmarks that demonstrate SUSTAINED performance.

GG @ mem timings, cpu and gpu speed.

I'm currently experimenting with OC settings on my AMD X2 rig, but can't get it to run stable beyond 2.2 GHz.
Any suggestions?  Specs are as follows:

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard (skt 939)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ CPU (2 GHz stock)
BFG 7900 GS OC video-card
2 x 1GB Corsair XMS DDR400/PC3200 RAM (CL2)

So far I can get it to 2.2 GHz with a FSB speed of 220 MHz (multiplier is locked at x10), BUT, only if I lower
the memory frequency to 166 MHz (333 MHz effective), and relax the timings to 3-3-3-7.

Here's the CPU-Z shot:

I've tried upping the chipset and RAM voltages, but no dice.  It would seem that this particular
CPU is very temperamental at FSB speeds above 220 MHz.

Your ht link is a bit high. You wanna drop ur ht link in the bios to get a lower memory divider setting cuz I suspect you memory is over revving when you select a htt speed higher than 220. SHould also leave ur mem set to auto if available.
Title: Re: Benchmark Rum Shop
Post by: Arcmanov on June 26, 2007, 05:49:21 AM
Not sure what you meant by 'mem set to auto', but I did as you suggested and lowered the HT multiplier to 2.5x,
and was able to gain another 200 MHz of CPU speed.  However, this only remains stable with the relaxed memory
timings/frequency (3-3-3-7 / 333 MHz). Anything else, and the system would not boot.

So several hours and twenty-something reboots later, its humming along quite nicely at 2.4 GHz.  Not great
(considering what I've read), but a substantial improvement nonetheless.

Post by: Spazosaurus on June 26, 2007, 07:02:11 AM
your memory is definately running in a n overclocked state. The Bios may say it runs at 333, but check cpuz and or Everest for a accurate reading. Case in point, my rig wont even boot if the memory speed in the bios is set to anything other than 667mhz, whereas the actual memory speed is 900mhz. And as you already know, youve gotta sacrifice timings for speed.

Only Ran 2 benchies 3dMark03 and 3dMark06

Ulti's new rig:

Biostar Tf570 SLI
Amd AM2 X2 5000+ 65nm @ 2.6
XFX 8800GTS 320 extreme (560/850x2) - driver version 169.02
2GB OCZ ddr2 800mhz

heres the results:

3dMark03 - 18693
3dMark06 - 9006

O/C gpu only (576/890)

3dMark03 - 19329
3dMark06 - 9067 (Proves CPU limitation)

O/C gpu and cpu only

cpu@2840mhz
gpu@(576/890)

3dMark06 - 9654 (again Proves CPU limitation)
but the cpu reached really high temps (46 C) idles @ 32 C with stock cooler

I feel if I push it I can break the barrier that is 10,000 for me but I'm afraid to fry my chip.  :violent5:
so until next year, add me to the rankings mwahhahaha! :happy0203:

You may well break the barrier if you OC the GPU a little more.
I have safely run my GTS at 630 core / 950 memory speeds for benchies,
but alas...all GTS cards are not created equal.  Some may achieve a
higher stable OC than mine, while some may not.  You wont know
the upper limits until you really push it.

sorry about that. i cant get the actual screenie from 3dmark itself as i havent "cracked" the program. the only way to view the result is on the website. i hope this screen shot of the result on the website would suffice.

not too shabby for a 939 based, all stock cooling system :)

by the way, captain, i did the "mod" i was telling u about. no "paxx paxx!" yet :)

edit: sorry for posting the result here. will put it in the correct thread.

You guys with the overclocking and 3.5 and 3.6ghz speeds, I hope that you're using IntelBurn stress test to make sure that your systems are stable at those speeds. Dont even tell me about prime or orthos. Those are useless.

12 hours you say? Seems odd that it would run for such a long time, considering that any fault in the cpu is detected in mere minutes.

How many tests do you run on Intelburn?

Ah...i see the post has been deleted...and not by me.

yeah well that 12 hour time i usually use to put a rediculus number of test as the default 5 or somethign so finish so fast (was still thinkign in the prime mode where longer is better), but now any new oc i trying, i usually do about 20 tests or so, that mustbe to much and all

--------------Edited---------
then i usually leave occt running tell i decide to take it off, one think that the occt sucks in i must admit, if it do bomb out, is alwas some error code that yau ahve no explanation for, so is be hard to figure out what caused it. and yea i noticed the post got deleted i jsut now see this pop up when i went back to the homepage hehe

dont usually take screen shots of it unless i run into a problem to show some padnas on extreme forums for advice, but if you want i can set some running when meh machien backup and take a screen shot for yua to see

Cool, how much test yua want meh to run when ah up and running, regular ole amount of test as you pointed out it really detects the errors in minutes which is true, vista installing (Frakign cat 8.10 driver)

currently meh cpu on 3.5, trying a new way to oc, before i had 9x400, but i see men say more fsb is better, so i tryign that, and incing up to the 3.6, so i on 8x438 or somethign so at the moment

Anything over 5 is fine. I usually run 10, but you can run it with how much ever tests you did to make it last 12 hours.

I have screenshot of my 12hour stress using OCCT 3.6GHz OC @ 1.45 Volts. Should i upload?

The first hour of tests are the most intensive. So 5 Hours shoudl be more than enough. but i juss leave my machien runing occt and went to work. came back and he was stil trucking. Stable like ah house.

ok go run the same 10 like you then and show you it stable after it, boy that 12 hour time i just punch numbers just to get the test running hehehe, but we ent need all that as this thing works diffrently to Prime and them things with the more hours is better business, will just run one now as soon as the machien come up, how long the 10 times is take you?
