i owned a nice little graphite gba sp that i gave away when i bought my moded psp. i was thinking that i can just get an emu and play al my gba games via (legal) roms. problem was the experience of playing gba games on the psp just aint the same. i mean the bigger screen is a nice p[lus and the button layout suffices however if just dosent feel right.
mariocart for example is wicked on the sp but kinda lame on the psp. castlevania circle of the moon is nice on the psp but simply awsome on the SP. ever played the sims on gba sp? it is surprisingly good, but on the psp the emu version isnt as nice. i dunno if the the emu dosent properly emulate the graphics hardware of the gba but the games on the psp seem flat not rich and crisp and clean and sharp like the SP. plus lately i have been having these strange thoughts, i have at times thought that the gba is superior to the psp as a purely handheld mobile gaming experience. heresy i know, and i shall repent soon. even worse i am actually considering buying a gba sp and useing it for my mobile gaming fix/. i could get one of them flash thingies and transfer my large catridge library to it and have like maybe 50 best games in my pocket at all times. games like dk country and minish cap and alpha 3 and castlevania and mariocart and ghost and ghould and final fight, and even tekken advance

what yur experiencing qza is sprites vs polygons
nintendo is the sprite master
so the psps polygon take on the graphics probably doesnt seem as BRIGHT
but the sp couldnt be superior
ds on the other hand...

sprites as opposed to polygons..... brilliant. lol
i should have figured that one out myself. as for the SP being superior i mean only as a mobile gaming experience not hardware wise. i am thinking about how easy it is to slip an SP into your pocket its so damned small, perfect size actually, but the screen is just big enough to enjoy btw does the DS use sprites to render GBA games if you use it to play gba roms (not the catridges)
-
yeah it does
spritez has been nintendos thing since the super

U talkin to the master of "traveling with games" here
Man fly from California to India and back.......i suggest .......HIGHLY suggest if you are a mobile gamer you get yourself a DS AND a PSP. REALLY......no excuse to not get such a cheap system like a DS
now if you want REAL portability you get a GBA MICRO.....the ting like a keychain and plays all your GBA games just perfectly. You can get that on Amazon still i believe.
On the other hand when traveling i want a full on graphically impressive AND fun game, I go with my PSP and portable opps or Chains of Olympus who's beta ive had since god knows when.
But with Contra 4 on the DS....i mean.....yuh hadda get a DS too.
Too add to portability of the Micro.....a 1-2 GB flash mem rom for the GBA can fit allllllll your games.....and you go be a very happy man on the road...with a keychain playing all your GBA and GB titles.

to quote drew barrymore "YUMMY" i think i am sold on the micro and 2 gig flash i am going to checkout amazon now. the amount of gba carts i have eh funny i could be legal and fun :P. put the micro on ah keyring with meh keys and fire up a lil castlevania. an i a;ready have the psp for tomb raider (croft junkie) and ps1 eboots (read metal gear solid and sotn the two greatest ps1 games of all times and if any heathens blaspheme may lightening strike them down) and the holy grail (when ever they release the damn thing) GOW
-
btw shiv what games would take with youm to a north america to india nonstop flight? my picks Castlevania cotm, minish cap, tomb raider one (the psp remake) alpha 3 psp (yeah the controls are crappy but the game rocks)

Took about 20 DS games and a handful of GBA
Bought a PSP on the flight to Cali here in Dallas airport....in a SONY Vending machine :D i regret not having one for flight
What i had on me in no particular order
Contra 4
Zelda Phantom Hourglass
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Gunstar Heroes - GBA
I had a good few others like Meteos, New SUper Mario, Metroid.....lots of great titles
but those 4 were what kept me busy most fo the time. - I have the first Castlevania for DS and i really enjoy that one.
There is a Street FIghter 2 V for the GBA out. My friend got it in Singapore but im sure you can find it from the "sources". EXCELENT game for the GBA....old school SF days. Real sweet.
The micro is out of production but you can still get them on Amazon or Ebay i believe. I was checking out a classmates own the other day.....real sweet dred...so tiny
