Title: Call of Duty: World at War
Post by: woodyear99 on June 18, 2008, 02:06:58 AM
It will be a good game I think, though I was a little disappointed with it being set during WW2, woulda prefer something a lil more present day. WW2 shooters have been done to death. Ah well glad to see the series continuing.

Call of Duty: World at War Revealed

Published June 17, 2008

The next Call of Duty® is being revealed! You can watch the premiere of the worldwide reveal trailer for Call of Duty: World at War only on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace June 21.

Call of Duty: World at War completely changes the rules of engagement by redefining WWII gaming and thrusting players into the final tension-filled, unforgiving battles against a new ferocious enemy in the most dangerous and suspenseful action ever seen.

Powered by Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare™ technology, Call of Duty: World at War brings an uncensored edge to combat, as soldiers face the most harrowing and climactic European and Pacific battles in which an enemy, who knows no surrender and no retreat, will fight to the last breath, unleashing an arsenal of lethal surprising tactics.  Peril and danger lurk throughout the battlefield as players combat the unknown risk of the new chaos of battle.

From the remains of Russia and the ruins of Berlin, to the beach and jungles of the deadly Pacific Theater, the volatile action takes on added depth as players employ new features that previously were only available in multiplayer, including perks, rankings and online stats in up to four-player cooperative gameplay, and take advantage of the new infantry and vehicle-based weapons, like the potent flamethrower, that will set the battlefield ablaze.

The other disappointment is that Treyarch are developing, NOT Infinity Ward, that has me a little worried since they did COD 3 and it didn't fear that well, although this one will have 4 player co-op but we will have to wait and see....

Hehe I liked COD3 :p but yeah Infinity definitely woulda been the better one. I'm always up for more coop.

Anyway we got Bad Company coming out next week :)

Thats true...Bad Company should be fun although my experience with it will beg to differ. *Kicks demo and stomps on it due to the freezing problem encountered everytime Redlum tries to play....."

Do i smell a RROD??

Nah, no such luck Spartan, my Xbox 360 is Immortal!! LOL, it has been working like a charm since Jan '06...*knocking on every rain forest in the world

I have had problems with Demos in the past, like Woodyear said, the full game works fine, it may just be a hardware issue since my 360 is the OG of 360's LOL

Well the developer did say they having problems with the 360 version of the demo....especially in the online...
Didn;t you guys get an game update though?

Um I think the bad company fix was server side no patch right now, it was a lag issue only affecting 360 not the ps3 version

speak for yourself XD i'll wait to see if the reviews from my fellow Live! members is good, then i'll consider it, I got COD3 and honestly I didn't even play past the first level, that's how much I thought it SUCKED. So yeah I reiterate... not everyone.

im kinda two minded about COD. took me a while to even consider getting it and even when i did i hardly played it. i mostly tried the multiplayer which i think is better on split screen as a replacement for halo 3 which my friends absolutely hate. funnily enough i loved COD 1. it was different but it came at a time when WW2 games were cool. now they are a dead horse and while killing aliens is also a dead horse im much prevy to beat that with a stick. im tired of germans, arabs and vietnamese and Farcry 2 will probably have you killing africans with its beautiful bush fire physics. what id love is to get my hands on UT3 and maybe as an added Xbox bonus have the guys from GOW as a team. that way i get twice the cole pwnage.

Title: Call of Duty: World at War PRESS RELEASE!!! CO-OP
Post by: TheApprentice on June 23, 2008, 05:42:00 AM
Quote
Sydney, Australia – June 23, 2008 – Leave your packs and bring extra ammo, Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) and Treyarch, announced today that they will be taking Call of Duty players deep into the South Pacific and European theatres this spring for Call of Duty: World at War™, a gritty fight that will pit players against enemies that know no surrender and show no mercy. Utilizing the Call of Duty 4®: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War throws out the rulebook of war to transform WWII combat through a new enemy, new tactics and an uncensored experience of the climatic battles that gripped a generation. As U.S. Marines and Russian soldiers, players will employ new features like cooperative gameplay, and weapons such as the flamethrower in the most chaotic and cinematically intense experience to date.

“With Call of Duty: World at War, we’re re-defining what it means to play a WWII game,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “We’re excited to give players a host of new enemies that employ entirely new tactics, as well as new, groundbreaking tools – like co-op and the flamethrower – to succeed in the epic fight.”

Call of Duty: World at War introduces co-operative play, bringing fresh meaning to the “No One Fights Alone” mantra with up to four-players online for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, or two-player local split-screen on consoles.  Nintendo Wii will also support a unique co-op mode for two players. For the first time ever players will experience harrowing single-player missions together for greater camaraderie and tactical execution. The co-op campaign allows players to rank up and unlock perks in competitive multiplayer by completing challenges and earning experience points, adding continuous re-playability and team-based gameplay. Whether playing competitively or cooperatively – if players are online with Call of Duty: World at War – they will always gain experience points. Based on a player’s experience rank and rank of the player’s friends, Call of Duty: World at War will scale dynamically to provide a deeper level of challenge.

Call of Duty: World at War is in development for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo® Wii™ and Games for Windows® PC. The title is scheduled for release this spring and has not yet been rated by the OFLC.

No extra codes here, sorry. As for whether CoD5 is better than Cod4, hmmm. Can't really say yet because ah mean is only the beta demo we dealin with. I think anyone would need to get d full game in their hands and experience both the multiplayer and single player campaign modes to give a true opinion. As for the Beta, all i can say is WOW! Gameplay is tight, sounds and visuals are good, maps or ok. This one could be a winner.

Some details from my beta experience.

In Options there is a feature called Player Name Indicator which you can use to take off player names or abbreviate them. I personally find this a nifty feature since names obscure my vision of targets sometimes.

In Barracks, there is a new challenge Field Specialist. It is locked in the beta so I couldn't access it for more details. There is also Vehicle Challenges which were also locked.

Party Privacy has been added so you can change between Friends Only, Open or Invite Only.

Friends Names are blue and indicated on the map as a blue arrow when playing TDM.

There are TEN (10) custom classes to create. The later five are unlocked through completing successive Prestige Modes.

New Grenades
Tabun Gas
Flare
Some anti tank grenade

Ok on to the good stuff, THE PERK LIST. Some perks are back with new "counter" perks.

PERK 1

Special Grenades x3
Satchel Charge x2
M9A1 Bazooka x2
Bomb Squad
Bouncing Betty x2
Bandolier
Primary Grenade x2
M2 Flamethrower

PERK 2

Stopping Power
Fireworks - Higher Explosive Damage
Flak Jacket - Reduces Explosive Damage
Gas Mask - Protects against Tabun Gas
Juggernaut
Camouflage
Sleight of Hand
Shades - Protects against flare grenade
Double Tap
Overkill

PERK 3

Deep Impact
Extreme Conditioning
Steady Aim
Toss Back - Resets fuse of picked up grenades
Second Chance - Revive Downed Allies
Martydom
Fireproof
Dead Silence
Iron Lungs
Reconnaissance

VEHICLE PERK
Greased Bearings - Tank Main Gun turns faster
Water Cooler - Turret doesn't overheat as quickly
Ordinance Training - Decrease reload time of turret
Lead Foot - Drive Faster
Coxial Machine Gun

Well we sweat again last night till 12:30am though, we got up to level 23, but that's because we were all tired by then, Foz was sleepwalking, died and logged off, Cory fell off the catwalk and died and W1nTry and I got overrun. We need to sweat in the day when we are fully awake and can concentrate...LOL

LOL, yes I kept falling asleep and waking up intermittently to see my gun pointing up in the air. I surprised since I was on the frontline on the catwalk that I did not die.

Yes this late night gaming thing not so good. I LOVE THE N+ sweat. We need to do that again.
Silvaback aka greenmachine aka grasshopper is too much kixxx. LOL

hey I know this topic is old like John McCain but I need some advice. After finishing Modern Warfare 2 I wanted to go back in time and play this. Here's a problem I'm having though. I d/l a "non legal" copy and I installed it. When I go on single player mode there's an option to choose difficulty however when I click on it it, rather than execute the stage it goes back to the difficulty choices menu. Are there patches that can fix this. I mean I run MW 2 really good without problems and this game is older...

I believe you need to create your profile.
