Just came across this interview on gametrailers.com where a developer @ RIOT speaks about League of Legends. Calling it the spiritual successor to DOTA.
Pretty interesting. They seem to have their head on and the trailer gives a good taste of the gameplay.

The guys @ league of legends have announced their upcoming title will be F2P (Free to play for the uninitiated)
This in contrast to Demigod and Heroes of Newerth that charge players a one time fee (US$30-50) for their moba fix.

Following in HoN's footsteps.
League of Legends has promised to dole out beta keys when their facebook fan page hits 40,000
They're at just about 30,000 now.

If HoN's rabid success on the popular social networking site is any indicator, they will be hitting that target in very short course.
For reference, Hon is now well over 140,000

As expected, LoL hit 40,000 members and climbing...albeit at a slower rate than HoN.
Beta keys have been released to their facebook fans, not only that....but now they've gone into Open Beta.
Anyone can head over to their site and sign up to see what all the fuss is about.
If only it were that easy though....after downloading the 300mb beta client, I was treated to about 15 mini-updates and then a massive 500mb update.
Still downloading as we speak.
Very poor form by the LoL team. If that's how they greet anxious gamers the world over, with a convoluted installation/update process.

Been playini LoL fer d last month. Once u get ovr d fact is not dota/HoN(which is dota 2.0) d games fun as dere is a different focus to gameplay and some realli unique chars. I just hope dey implement a Clan system in d game client.
Anyone looking to hook up on LoL, add me:

how does it compare to HoN?
-
well having played both, I think Hon is better.
Here are some quick comparisons
LoL feels cheaper. By far less polished. That said, it is beta so maybe they will apply some spit and shine before the final product rolls.
Hon feels like a complete product. Ready to shrink wrap and sell.
Hon's camera feels too close, LoL's feels too far. (Very subjective of course)
LoL lobby system is practically non existent
Hon's auto balancing is sweet. No more games against overwhelming odds. (Unless you're into that sort of thing)
LoL chose a light hearted approach, very colorful and lots of whimsical characters
Hon takes itself more seriously, gritty, dread character design. Like Quake 3 vs Serious Sam.

Did someone say Quake? >_>
I won't mind giving LoL a whirl...but I've already made my solid investment in HoN as the definitive move forward from DOTA.

Honestly, I fine HoN to be too much like dota; it feels like wat dota + Garena and watever community features dat should make ONE single awesome game should be.....a few years ago. D graphics is relative to how u like it. I wont stop playin DotA so I not lookin fer a replacement. LoL though, gives me sumthing different enough I can feel like its a different game, but with enuff nostalgia that I can appreciate the differences. HoN just didnt do that for me. But I hearin from more and more Trinis dat HoN is dere choice(dont think they noe it is $30USD though and probably "un-crackable+ for a wile) to succeed DotA.

Played the game last week i dont find it all that hot up graphics ok but i prefer HoN the only thing real good about it is the F2P Option
