Bethesda said this a new game set in the Fallout universe.I beat Fallout 3 just a few weeks back lol, not sure about touching them expansions.

The expansions take place in the game itself not after. Getting the GOTY editon for ps3 myself.

Already "got" my copy of Fallout New Vegas, eagerly awaiting 12:00am to play it. Will give my impression on the game after a couple of hours with this title. I played the 3rd iteration and thoroughly enjoyed it, cant wait!!!
-
For the other folks its out at your usual places lol.

Well I am liking the New Vegas experience but was honestly disappointed with the lack of graphic improvement from Fallout 3. I know the graphics are limited by the massive amount of content this game provides so I wont deduct any points on that front.
One good thing I recognized is that they partially closed off the sand box, what I mean is that they aren't allowing people beyond a certain point until they fulfill an objective or most of the objectives in that area, normally this would be a bad thing but for Fallout this is good. I say this because a friend of mine finished Fallout 3 by just going straight to the end quests without really experiencing the game.
Another thing is that most skill books now last for a duration rather than stay throughout the whole game so they act like a kinda buff when you need those extra skill points to do some activity.
They have also added iron sights to the game which felt weird at first but after a few-lot of kills you can pick off stuff from distances pretty well.
Lastly I will comment on that new addition which is Hardcore mode, I instantly enabled it since I like the hardest challenge when playing a single player games so this was good for me. What it does is force you to have to micro manage your avatar, in this mode you get hungry, thirsty and even suffer from sleep deprivation also healing aids don't immediately give results and instead work over a duration of time so if you are currently getting shot at and don't have the cover necessary to give your life time to build up you will mostly likely die.
With the game on insanity and hardcore I am having a tough time as expected but still having fun nonetheless find myself doing less fighting and more sneaking and running away from enemies tho.

Always wanted to play Fallout 3 but last time I tried it maybe 9 months or more ago, it kept crashing all the time in the training stage.
Is Vegas something you can pick up and play and enjoy without playing any others before it? Kinna interested in seeing what this game is like.
-
They say New Vegas is like a huge expansion to Fallout 3 and its a totally diff story. So I guess it would be ok to pick up and play on the fly.

Yeah, what he said. It is a whole new story so it can be viewed as a standalone title.
-
Definitely, the story is setup so you don't have to play the previous game to enjoy it. Not a direct sequel.

If you were playing it on the computer I know the problem you were having as I had it too. The game does not support more than 2 cores so with my triple core I got a lot of crashes and freezes, by forcing the game to run on 2 cores I got rid of that problem.
-
Yeah, computer. Well that is a pretty dumb flaw to have in a game in 2010. I am confident that it no longer exists.
-
2 Patches have been released to fix those game breaking bugs just thought I'd let ppl know. Not sure if it deals with that core issue tho.

Oh ho so that's why I had such a crashtastic experience on the last one lol.

^^ Use the patches they work...for both games lol
Anyway they made a nudy patch :awesome: hahahaha

Dunno who could handle that throughout the whole game tho.

Shouldn't they have made a mod for improving character models first?
-
U mean improving facial expressions is more like it.
-
Oh lawd this game is a serious improvement from the first one the shear amount of stuff that you can manage in this game is shocking(making ammo, food, chems) and also I reached a part where I did a thing and then another thing had to read a skill book to get the thing done and then goodness happened, I really don't want to sell anything out.

I was playing New Vegas like normal found Vault 34 through another quest went inside... hard as hell but great. Ended up finishing up nearly everything I had to do there(had to leave, you will or already know why if you have/havent played here yet) now get out of the Vault only to get an error "This save game relies on Downloadable Content that is no longer available. continue loading?" thinking about the hour plus I spent in that damn vault I clicked on yes only to get "The Storage device you selected is no longer available. Load Cancelled."
Ended up checking online and it is a bug and until a new patch comes out your ass will have to go back to a save before entering the vault and make a u-turn. Well the purpose of this post is to tell you to not go to Vault 34 or if you are in there already just reload a previous save.
Good thing I save every few steps so I had a save from right before I went inside!
-
Do you have the 2 current patches installed?

I am playing it on the XBOX and I saw it updated already. Just in case I loaded up the save from the vault left the vault saved again and then tried to load said save, which gave me the same error again. Until they patch the game again I wont be going into that vault. I need some definitive proof DAMMIT.
-
Good lord. These bugs prolly worse than the one's that came with Fallout 3.
-
The new patch for New Vegas went live across the platforms and looks like they have fixed the major problems and especially what I have been waiting to see fixed.
"Fix: DLC error/save corruption"
The full fix list can be found http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/12/10/new-vegas-game-update-available-on-playstation-3-will-be-on-xbox-360-steam-next-week/ (http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/12/10/new-vegas-game-update-available-on-playstation-3-will-be-on-xbox-360-steam-next-week/). Just by chance I took a left turn from Black Ops and put in Fallout NV only to see an update to download, good thing I did was missing the Fallout experience.
-
I updated and the game still freezes on me. I have the ps3 version and the freeze is so random it can happen anywhere from 5min-1hr and it's killing my fallout vibe.
