First Tech Demo Vid released.

Epic have just released this amazing tech demo for the upcoming Gears of War 3. A lot of information is still in the air and we have no clue as to when the third game in the premium franchise will be released. At GDC, Epic showed various demonstrations of their updated Unreal Engine. One of those was the tech demo for Gears of War 3. The video is pretty short but it shows the level of detail that one can expect from a Gears of War game. The footage shows a Brumak roaring through a jungle.
Also as reported by Kotaku, Epic Games vice president Mark Rein, referring to a demo showing a blob of liquid metal, asked the audience at GDC: “Remember last year we had the meat cube? …This is the mercury cube”
Another demo showed what the updated Unreal Engine was really capable of. An Epic representative playing a demo, quickly zipped through a city, indicating how quickly the buidlings and the huge city can be easily rendered by the engine.
Mark Rein added: “One day we’ll show you what we’re doing with this. When you see what we’re doing with this, it’s going to blow your mind.”

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Gears of War 3 is in development at Epic Games. The first two games were tremendously successful and the story in Gears 2 (pictured above) was clearly set up for a third game. But until now, we had no idea when we could expect it to come. According to Edge, a "trusted US publishing source" has told them that Gears 3 is expected to be released in April 2011, with a debut trailer set to hit next month, on April 8. Edge also claims that we'll then see a full reveal of the game at this year's E3 in June. Epic VP Mark Rein confirmed at last week's Game Developers Conference that Epic wouldn't be releasing any games this year, which helps to corroborate what Edge's source is claiming.
The source explained Microsoft's reason for abandoning the traditional November release that the first two games followed: "Microsoft's keen to avoid a clash with Halo: Reach and wants Natal to own Christmas. That's why we won't be seeing Gears of War 3 until next year, but expect a major marketing push ahead of its release."
We've heard that the next Killzone game, Killzone 3, is scheduled for a release in the same time frame as Gears of War 3 next year, so it looks like the two heavy hitters will be going head-to-head in about a year from now. Last time around, Killzone 2's release trailed Gears 2's by about four months.
If the source pans out, we're only a few weeks away from our first look at Gears 3, and the full reveal at E3 would then be less than three months away.

kz2 online was almost perfect.
in game clan challenges and tournament support where u can wager points against other clans or set an entrance fee to enter a tourney and the top 3 teams get points according to how many teams in d tourney.

only problem with kz2 was the assault class and the engineer class turrets

Killzone 2 a ripoff of Gears?? If you said Uncharted I could more understand as Uncharted is a cross between Gears and Tomb Raider, though I still wouldn't call it a ripoff. Look at Quantum Theory there is a ripoff. Don't know why they really saying KZ3 and GeOW3 going head to head since one is a PS3 exclusive and the other is a 360 exclusive.

There's rumor that Gears of War 3 will intoduce underwater battle scenes and mech suits. All that is fine and dandy panzy but I just wanna know what will be new with the multiplayer cause that's where the meat of this game is.

Looks like a new enemy has emerged called the "Lament"? Hmm, I wonder if the Locust will decide to join forces...kinda reminds me of Halo and the Elites joining forces with Master Chief to take out the Flood...hmmmm....we'll see I guess...either way looks promising.

A Russian gaming magazine has some juicy information on the upcoming Gears of War 3.
Despite Cliff Bleszinski tweeting earlier not to trust ‘badly translated leaked info’ from Russian gaming mags….we just can’t help ourselves. Take the following titbits with a pinch of salt though.
* Epic reiterates Gears 3 will end Marcus Fenix’s trilogy, but the series will continue in the forms of spin-offs, prequels and even “a transition to a new genre”.
* It takes place a year-and-a-half after Gears 2. After the fall of Jacinto, the government and COG collapsed with it.
* Humans who survived the Hammer of Dawn offensive from Gears 2 have gone off and formed separate tribes to fight for their survival. Anyone who didn’t has its remains in ash, hence the Ashes to Ashes trailer. Locust are in a similar situation
* Ravens Nest seems to be the name of the man-made island that is in the sea. It can travel as well.
* COG leader Prescott disappears, but soon shows up at an airbase on the man-made island shown in the scans. Mag mentions that Marcus gives him the eye, but also something else: a recording from Adam Fenix, Marcus’ father, who tells him how to save Sera. Oh, and here’s the kicker: Adam’s still alive.
* Cole and Baird now have their own storyline at some point in the game.
* Anya, according to the translations, “turned into a…badass, let her hair loose, put on armor, and now fights alongside Marcus.” Other than Anya, there will be other female characters in the game.
* Lambent are now seen as the main enemy, not the Locust, and are also able to charge up to at least three Gears at a time whenever they’re close to dying and explode.
* Other new weapons include a grenade launcher that contain earth-drilling rounds and a rifle that shoots single rounds alongside the already announced double-barrelled shotgun.
* Difficulty in the game will be lowered, with story and character development also included, due to at least 60 percent of people not finishing the last game.
* Multiplayer environments will also change and will constantly shift during a match, although it’s not explained how.

Well i've been playing the beta 2 days now and I am liking what i'm seeing. To give an idea of what we've seen so far in terms of the features, what they kept and the feel of the game:
* It's fast, GOW 1 fast and smooth (for the most part)
* The graphics are improved, they use more colours and more textures and the environment feels more alive
* They kept the following features from 2 - Taking bullets slows your movement (e.g. when running towards enemies, They have all the weapons from 2 (mulcher, mortars, ink grenades, etc), they added a kick over cover move that keeps the game more fluid.
* They've added new weapons - sawed off shotgun which is particularly helpful if you're close up, though melee is harder with such a gun in the game, one-shot sniper (it's large like a mortar and will limit your movement speed, but it does as the name suggests), the ink grenade has a smaller effective radius but is stronger. The sniper is narrower in vision and (imho) harder to use. Lastly the digger (which is a highly mobile) that shoots underground explosives.
* Overall the game looks and feels like a highbred of GOW1 and 2, mostly the best of both. It's still 5v5
So far I give it 2 thumbs up! they have 4 months until release so there is time to polish and tweak, all in all so far its positive, once they don't @#$% it up in the next 5 months, we have a definite winner on our hands.

You can read our first impressions, an interview with the senior gameplay designer, and then get ready to bug your friends for an invite code. Everyone in the beta will get one key to give to a friend, and Microsoft and Epic Games are giving you a few different ways to earn even more keys. Here's what Microsoft says you can do to help your friends.
Purchase any Gears of War content from Xbox Live Marketplace—that includes game add-ons, games from Games on Demand, and Avatar gear.
Spend 20 or more hours playing the beta from today on, helping us make Gears of War 3 a better experience.
Add 12 months of Xbox Live Gold to your membership—if you already have several months or more remaining, the time will be added on to the end of your subscription.
Have at least 100 hours of gameplay logged on the Gears of War franchise. That includes single player and multiplayer across Gears of War, Gears of War 2, and their add-ons.
It's a little weird to reward people with beta keys for buying more Xbox Live, but the main way to earn keys is just to play the hell out of Gears of War, so it's hard to get worked up. Microsoft seems to be aiming for a huge beta, and this is a great way to reward players and get people to play for longer sessions. If you're already in the beta, it's time to get to work.

Sorry to say I've only now gotten a key to Beta and so far all I can say is WOW!! A lot more dynamics in the movement of characters on screen and as WinTry says the environments are more earthly and alive. Can't wait for the campaign!!

Finished the campaign on Normal with Jarrox, Dipshun and Zen...All I can say is this is THE best Gears of War game EVEEEEEEEEEEEER!!! The campaign just had a weighty feel to it, full of action at every turn, intense in your face action, as the AI rushes you like no tomorrow, flanking any which way to get to you.
Apprentice jumped in for a little bit, only to realize that we were like on Act 4 and almost on to Act 5...Spoilers IHMC!! LOL I warned you Apprentice before you played any further that you were in waist deep in it...We will start over the campaign for you though, but you need to get a mic dude LOL Especially if we playing online MP against random people, communication is key.
Needless to say, I will be playing that campaign over at least two more times, one to get the achievement on Insane, and also to find all the hidden stuff. Also tried out the Beast Mode, and to be on the other side of the fence playing as Locust, is one bada$$ experience that nobody should miss out on.
I give Gears of War 3 a solid 100 out of 10! :)

Whats d deal with d 4gb version? Can anybody shed some light.
Can i take ah regular sata drive and slap it in their? Woudl dat version be enough for gears, etc etc. Comments, Thoughts, Help.

So i had the privilege to play and beat this game, abuse W1nTry's K/D before he got a chance to play the game =D. All in 4 days.
I must say i'm quite pleased i spent 20 mins in traffic driving in Chaguanas to get this game. The storyline was good, nice finish to the series. It stuck to the game's original style of game play. Game looks GORGEOUS on a system that's so old.
I despised the MP in gow 2, but in this one, i'm more than impressed. I do however will argue the sawed-off is extremely OP and a big advantage to those with good net connections. And with all the unlockable skins and characters, its an achievement whore's wet dream.
Messiaah, u hadda get a xbox. PC or not, this game is def worth it.

They apparently removed the large HD's from the new models to save space and money on production. It is significantly smaller and lighter than the original 360's. The 4GB is internal storage (really not much) but you can use USB keys for storage as well as i believe there is a purchasable HD for it. *Waits for Redlum and W1nTry to enter*

The question is, when will i need a bigger HD than 4gb?
Can i get d 4gb and run gears comfortable, and study bout hd later?
And what about using yuh own HD in 360?

But the Gears DLC wont exceed 4GB, not now at least and even if, u can still use external storage to store things.

That video mentioned something about two 16 gb HD's.. So im not sure if it's limited to that or thats just addition to getting the the 250gb xbox.

I have a 4gb and a 250
both work just fine.
I'm no where near the capacity limit on either.
However, if you like to download your games from disc to the drive to save the lens (and increase load times) then you'll definitely want the 250gb (or a bigger hd)

I doh know why they doh release gears 2 and 3 on pc nah.
I load d HiRes and DX11 patches on crysis 2 today, flick on ultra settings, and run that game, it look truely amazing. @ 2560*1600 meh fps was like 40 doh, so ah set it down to 1920*1200, to get meh constant 60. But shit, i that game truely impressive. PC Graphics pwns all.
But i doh think we ever going to see gears 2,3 on pc ...sigh.

As depressing as that is, we must remember the whole long story of the PC curse. Expensive investment, smaller market, subjected to hacking/piracy, cost of porting/developing for PC and the list goes on and on.
But i do assure u Messiaah, the game looks and runs great. So did Crysis on the consoles as well. This coming from a man who abandoned the consoles months ago to seek the inner asian and play games like SC2 and HoN (BC2 in there too but doesnt require asian powers lol).
Another upside of its worthy investment, there are 100+ trini's on Xbox Live. Every night i've been on for the week, men line up to play gears. Full local games and men on the outside waiting to jump in. You always have people to play with in the prime time. Can't go wrong there

Dont mis-understand eh, i still think 360 is balls, PC FTW. But them men just wicked keeping gears 2/3 exclusive, and gears 3 looking good enough to warrant sellin me d console.
I mite juss be playing gears on it doh, once game available for pc i hitting it their first.
But gears 3 is d first xbox game look like it justify buying d console just for that. and @ 200$ is kind of ah steal.
Ah eh hit order yet, but im leaning in that general direction. Need to get that gears coop fix in. And only coop games for d year again i interested in is rage/renegade ops.

yeah, I watched the gears action closely during the tournament yesterday.
It really is a must have title.
No doubt.
I could see why they using it as a "carrot on a stick" for the 360 platform.
Real men will buy the console JUST to play that game.

been getting some horrendous lag online with this. Anyone else experiences this? thought it was my internet, so I tested uncharted 3 and mortal online (on PS3) and that had no lag whatsoever.
also when im playing gears 3 on live, (as of last night) everything else on my network shuts down. mumble, msn, even web browsing. Any ideas anyone?

Are you running the Xbox through your pc? Do you have the network setting on automatic? Running wireless or cable? Details Berserk..details :P
