whats this show about
and what does tuned for tv mean for us non noobs
-
It's about everything tech related, including games, gadgets, movies, music, etc. and tuned for TV means it's not the typical boring show that you would have seen locally but it's geared to be entertaining and interactive as well.
-
is it a sort of call for help?
or some how a completely different experience never before imagined or implemented?
What if any are its contemporary shows?
Right now, i dont watch local tech shows for one
and the lack of information on this one.. doesnt make me think it any different from any other local tech shows that i dont watch.
-
maybe a little pilot on youtube or a teaser will help alay crixx's fears! What say you aids?
-
It's akin to attack of the show. Allbeit with a smaller budget but we hoping to get that sorted out.
The pilot will also be simulcast on the web (as is everything on Gayelle)
I can't offer much else by way of info at the moment but by all means watch and criticize it and send your feedback on what you think or how we can make it better.
We want the show to be very interactive and I think that is what should make it different from anything else done locally.
Next week there will be interviews with the hosts and clips from the pilot episode on numerous programmes on Gayelle including the Gayelle News at 7:30 pm.
Send feedback via email or drop us a message on the facebook group or even on this thread.
-
Thanks to all the ppl who viewed the premiere and sent feedback.
Be viewing This Saturday at 7:30 pm when Techville goes inside the launch of Bankai Sundays and catch the repeats on Sunday at 1pm or Monday at 5:30 pm.
-
is there an online version of the show for those that missed it ?
-
Gayelle broadcasts live on jump tv but we are arranging for reruns to go up on youtube and our website soon.
-
^^ thats a smart idea. I will tune into the youtube episodes once they are up, and i'll have to look into that jump tv thingy to see if i could view it live. Its seems like a good idea, hope it picks up.
-
Thanks all and don't forget today is the day 7:30 pm on Gayelle.
-
Techville Episode 1 is now online for the people who missed it.- Techville Episode 1 (http://www.vimeo.com/11391969)
-
it was good but where the interactive segment you were talking about.
-
The show isn't live so the segments aren't interactive in the traditional sense.
What we want is feedback as to what you liked, what you didn't like and what you would like to see in the show.
We are all about showing the different sides of Tech that don't normally get airtime or recognition so don't hesitate to share your ideas even if you think it's not "techy" enough.
We also hope to implement some other things to make it more interactive in the near future.
-
ahh i see. you could probably look at what is going on in T&T tech, something like what the guardian has, i cant remember the name of the article but it usually deals with what is going on in T&T. This could give the trini nerds something to look forward to.
-
Thanks I'll look into it and for the people who didn't see this weekends episode here is a sneak peak of the Bankai Sundays event. Godai Package For Techville (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAY8U2Ul_uk#)
There is still time to catch the rerun today at 5:30pm to see the whole show and keep those emails coming to techville@live.com
-
yeah AIDS that is what i talking about good work man. when can i catch the online version
-
Probably by the end of the week. Stay tuned here for more updates.
-
Good stuff though maybe lower or even turn off the background music when interviewing people?
-
Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it.
Firstly, we highlighted the Ironman 2 game only because it's related to the movie that we also highlighted but I also understand that you would have liked to see different games and we will look into that for future episodes.
Secondly, with respect to the language, the dialect probably came across forced to you because like you said "I've not ever seen any local programming use it that often".
We want to keep the show fairly light and casual while still getting the information out there so we decided not to force the hosts into speaking standard English all the time but rather to speak as they normally would to their friends. The hosts are new so their style may change with time but that is not something that we feel we need to dictate right now.
Evenso, I like the fact that you outlined what you didn't like about it so that we can improve the show. Let me know what you think of the second episode. (There is a re-run today at 5:30 in case you missed it on the weekend.)
Thanks for the contribution and looking forward to more feedback in the future.
-
call me biased, but episode 2 shaping up to be much better than episode 1, lol.
-
I too was unimpressed by the ironman game but there may be people out there who would like it and we can't affrd to only cater to hard core gamers.
We have links with Anime Caribe so that may not be such a bad idea at all.
call me biased, but episode 2 shaping up to be much better than episode 1, lol.
:) That's what we aim for, improvement in every episode so keep the feedback coming.
Thanks again guys.
-
Ok I finally got time to upload it.
Techville Episode 2: ENJOY!
Techville Episode 2 (http://www.vimeo.com/11587588)
-
just commented on episode 2 in the Bankai thread. Well done.
What are the plans for the next episode? top secret business or you could reveal?
-
Episode 3 aired yesterday (May 8th) on Gayelle and we paid homage to an old classic and it's newer incarnation, THE A-TEAM.
Plus we give you a look at the use of green screen in television in some shows that you might never expect.
All that and more in Techville episode 3.
And remember if you miss the episodes on Saturday night @ 7:30pm you can catch it again on Sundays @ 1pm or Mondays @ 5:30pm.
Keep it locked to Techville and remember it's more than just a tech show, it's tuned for TV!
-
is only me or Dianna could seriously get it

is only me or Dianna could seriously get it
LOL just don't start no stalker activity :)
-
lol @ dianna could get it.
she definitely took center stage in episode 2.
no doubt tech viewers are a largely male demographic and you know what we like. well played.

So in our ever increasing effort to make the show more relevant to local audiences we are looking for a freelance game reviewer.
If you are interested send me a PM or you can send an email to techville@live.com
-
Yeah I don't see why not. I will review your email and get back to you but if you have anything in mind feel free to suggest it.
-
My opinion:
Saw the first episode online and all I could say was "ugh". Dianna was thoroughly annoying with her use of what word "rite". They both look as if they are trying really hard to either be good...or make someone laugh, which are two things that should come naturally. Idk maybe after years of Xplay and other shows like that I have certain expectations from tech/gaming shows. May I ask how they were chosen to do this job? Were there screenings/auditions?
It hardly even seems as if they know about the stuff thats playing in the clips, which kinda brings me to content. As far as I've seen its just a bunch of video with two annoying people as unnecessary transitions. I would really hope that they have a background or atleast a serious interest in tech stuff so that they can speak more articulately on whatever topic is at hand.
The set.Kinda cool but feels like something you'd see in a 30second tech splash while the news is on commercial break.
_______________________________________________________________________________
All in all, the idea has boundless potential if proper execution can be achieved. I hope you find something useful in what I just said.
-
Thanks for the feedback.
Dianna does use the word "right" a lot and we try to work it out of her dialogue as much as possible.
There were auditions and what we were looking for were people with interesting personalities that wouldn't bore the audience to death. They are new to TV however, and it is expected that there would be a learning curve in terms of some of the finer points of presenting. I remember when I first started watching Xplay Adam Sessler was a terrible actor and wasn't funny in the least so all I watched for were the actual videos themselves. That changed over time though.
Maurice and Dianna are both interested and involved in the tech industry but that is difficult to convey at times when trying to deliver dialogue in front of a camera.
The set is a work in progress as well but may not be significantly altered until season 2 as the look has already been established.
The time from concept to production was a relatively short one and we were unable to acquire significant feedback from the public ahead of time but that is exactly why we value your opinions now. Thanks again for your contribution and please let me know what you think as the series continues to grow.
-
yeah, they do lack "tech" authenticity.
If the showed was named anything else.....wouldn't be a problem.
But when you hear tech ville, you kind of expect some technical authorities bringing you up to speed on all the latest tech (which these two obviously are not)
That aside, I still think it's a great effort. Episode 2 is the best so far imo.
Thought I was on synergy for a moment with the full length worm dance vid in episode 3. lol
-
Cool all sounds good. Will definitely look into it.

That facebook video......scary.....creeepy....on so many levels.
I see improvements....GJ
-
/me goes into Siskel and Ebert mode
Big fan of the prince so +1 for that.
I find the green screen segment was unnecessary and long. Didn't you guys go over a green screen piece in a recent episode?
yeah, the facebook video was more creepy than funny.
Not enough local tech content. We hearing more foreign opinion than a trini perspective. Maurice and Dianna have like 1% of the script delivery and 0% of the tech review. Just like intro to a clip and quips.
Still not quite sure how local artistes fit in with the tech ville theme. Seems a little out of place.
Local gamers, local tech enthusiasts, local tech stores, the tech behind music (like the piece with the two audio programs going head to head ), tech around the internet, review things like wimax (TSTT latest offering for mobile broadband) 3g/4g for phones on the island, etc....... but local artistes? Seems like that should be another program or on synergy maybe?
Dianna legs looked too skinny, tell the camera man to change up the angle or something, cause it didn't look so in the previous eps.
-
As usual we appreciate the feedback and all your suggestions are being taken into consideration. We aim to please you our audience.
Thanks again for the support.

Episode 5 coming online tomorrow and it's a special episode from the M.K. Promotions car show in Mayaro.
All gas brains stay tuned for TV.
:)
-
Episode 5 is now online and can be seen along with all the other episodes at the techville site
http://www.villeventuresfilms.com/techville/ (http://www.villeventuresfilms.com/techville/)
The site is currently in Beta, (kinda like the show itself) and is still subject to change and refinement.
As always, your feedback will prove to be invaluable to it's success and look forward to a few changes coming up from the next episode.
Keep it locked!

It's been a hectic couple of weeks and I forgot to put a direct link to episode 5 so here it is:

-
Yeah it bad like that :)
Would love to get some feedback on the show too.
-
It's been a while since we got any feedback on the show.
Do you guys have any ideas for how the show can be improved or what you would like to see covered in upcoming episodes?
-
honestly i thought you got cancelled or the season ended, haven't seen a new video in a while.
-
how many eps you guys up to now Aids?
-
..>.> cant express how much that tuned for tv thing bugs me...
like.. i see the thread, and see , its tuned for tv and immediately go, wtf does that mean!! and stamp a hole in the nearest monitor..>.>
-
We are up to episode 9. I have to get that one back from the editor to upload it.
Episodes 6 & 8 never aired due to some issues getting the footage in time from Gayelle to edit.
We are constantly making changes in an effort to stream line the production and add more value to the viewers so your feedback is invaluable to us. Thanks again for the support.
P.S. For those who don't like the "tuned for TV" slogan can you suggest some other slogans that you think fits better? We are always open to new ideas.
-
must admit, it doesn't resonate with me either. Tuned for TV, lol.
Tech Ville, not just a tech show...its tuned for noobs
Tech Ville, not just a tech show...its tuned for the general populace
Tech Ville, not just a tech show...its...its....ok, its just a tech show
Tech Ville, not just a tech show...its tuned for Anya Ahyoung Chee
ok, just finished with episode 5.
The hosts didn't seem comfortable with the material. The car show came across pretty meh
I would suggest getting a subject matter expert to guest host those segments that stray off the material they are familiar with.
always thought a car show had hot chicks, Dianna was the hottest one there. Where were all the import models? lol
The photoshop stuff was cool but badly in need of a local perspective/narative.
Similarly for the car show, something to tie it into technology. I dunno, maybe highlight the new decks that could do bluetooth, dock ipods, use sd cards / flash drives to run mp3s, etc....

All excellent points. That's the kinda feedback we need.
