Pics, or it didn't happen...

OK, I'm joking.  This rig is damn impressive.  Welcome to the forums.  :)
Good GOD at that CPU though...that alone cost more than most men entire rig on this forum.

I hope you don't mind me asking...how much in total would a rig like this typically cost?

Scores done up did a slight over clocked system cost me cheap since my company.
Is a dealer for most up these parts will post up the system with the 295 Gtx sli and 260 Gtx later that rig hit 35000 point on vantage this is my everyday rig. Cost me like 24k.

Rage has a point, rigs going on the rankings should be ppl actauly machine dey does use and swet with. not something built from parts in d shop juss to bench, and sell. that aside.

Competition is good :) , 35000 point eh? a reason to buy a second 5970, bring it on :)

Unless d 35000 machine is not really yuh personal rig. Ah well, Judges what say u?

And firstchoice with ah rig like dat, u need to be doing some gustav work in BC2, stop sticking.

He did say that it is his everyday rig....

the 5870 is his everyday rig...

the phsyx rig sound like parts just throw together to bench.. then sold.. or back in box or w/e... u know... like testing...

if it was so... we woulda already have a rig with 2 x 5970 and physx blowing out the place...

hey firstchoice... seeing as this is your personal benchmark threads.

we try to encourage all angles of overclocking information etc... so with posting the result's we like to look @ things like temperature, stability etc...

just to see what can be accomplished etc.

so what kinda temps you getting on the 975 and the gpu's?
Title: Re: fearless...Super Computer Rig Complete Water Cooled 5870CFi7 975
Post by: MessiaaH on April 26, 2010, 01:29:57 PM
Good gain with d cpu oc, gpu next :)

O and can u please provide Idel/Load temps for the CPU/GPU, im interested how your water loop's performance stands up to my own. I still have alot of headroom for thermal performance in my rig, i juss never try to max it :)

And stability test proof is also important, if yuh machine not stable, we dont want to see no score. I've been through this shabang when i first entered gatt with my high end machine, trust me, i had to go through d whole ordeal, start stress testing that rig.

and in all honesty.. with his hardware i was expecting to see no.1 spot get blow out of the water...
was kinda disappointed when it was @ 26000...

and yea... we still like to see temps and stability :)

Yea with ah Xtreme CPU and everything WaterCooled, i doubt stability will be an issue as well, but wee need to cover all basis as i have, cant take top 5 spots juss so :) i had to earn my keep :)

But i more interested in d temps of his liquid, but i guess temps/stability goes hand in hand.

i think i can reach pass 30k with this rig but i will leave it at this score for now and see what the dragon has to trow in the fire for me.

heres the load speed and idle speed for CPU and GPU's

CPU @ 4.3Ghzs

CPU Idle Temps 28-32 C
Mid/Full load 53-61C

GPU 1

Idle 23C Load 38

GPU 2
Idle 24 Load 42

Note thats full load. and note , GPU 1 is the first Loap in the system, then it goes to the second GPU, then my CPU, then the North bright, then it goes to Verg 1 and then Vreg 2 and then to the rad.

My benchmark was run on 9.12 driver, i mite try ah 10.3 later and see wah score i get. and 23c idle on d gpu DAMMM, dats lower dan room temp, AC? and dat extreme cpu performing like d price boy, 4.3GHz @ 1.4 dam, dat wud explain d thermal performance on d cpu, juss stability we looking for now.

Also, u need to do something bout dem kinks in yuh loop boy, thermal performnace will significantly increase.

And can u provide load temps on cpu whiles prime is running, prime/occt/linkpark gives higher temps dan games/3dmark

well i have the CPU  stress test runing in the back ground , and well i have the AC in the computer room on 25 C but even with out the temps just be like 26 C on the cards and 36 C on the CPU, runing prime 95 so when is about 5pm i will stop it and post results here will take a print screen of real tamps , it shows the lowest temps and highest temps, so you will see what it hit, so far i see it hit 70C

Makes sence with your temps, i suspected it was somewhere cold, you shoudl try Linx for the test if you dont feel liek wiating on the prime, happes alot faster, 20 passess or so takes only about 30 to 40 minutes, give it a shot

yep you hear right, but i am thinking about getting the CPU first, sell my 975 and then wait for the Dual 4XX cards to come out. So i dont know for sure, if that project will take off, with the 3 way or Quad SLI like what i did with the 295 GTX.

Cool, next question, what d hell u doing with 2 high end PC so,lolol

And yes, i know with the Xtreme CPU and Dual 5870 you machine had the potential to wax mines, as shown by d score, adding another 5970 to beat dat go be unfair, i rather match dat second 5970 to dat 3way SLI 480gtx rig u mentioned. But when i reach home if i feel up to it, ill do ah lil driver upgrade / tweakin to see how close i can get to that insane 29 score.

But you own both machines, why u rolling with d CF as official, why u ent posting d quad sli (wihtout physx) as official, since it get 30k+ i think u said.

Take note of that article, especialy note the power requirements for those 480gtx 3-way sli, your current corsair 1000w wouldnt be enouhg lol.

Hmm, 3Way 5870 is about the same as QuadCF 5970 in vantage, interesting. Wonder what go happne if i slap ah 5870 in my current rig, 400 bucks, hmmm....

...and when most of us DO upgrade, its usually one (or two) parts at a time...and even then its usually mid-range kit, so don't worry, that score safe for a LONG time.

Ok it's been a while since I post here .

Here is a update of what's coming .

It's confirm for 3-7970
Asus Rampage 4
New Extreme Chip 3960
32 GB of Corsair GT memory
New 800D case

That's it don't know if I'm going to install custom water cooling yet ! But I'm pretty sure with the H100 I can do 5 GHZ.

I think you may be trying to hang your hat higher than the H100 could reach... LOL.

It's good, but not THAT good.

I don't think it's advisable (or even possible?)

Nvidia drivers notoriously iffy when 4 GPUs involved.

You're wasting money on that 4th Titan unless you plan to run about 3 or more monitors, but hey, it's your money.   :laughing7:

Fully agreed, actually I think 2 titans is the limit, a 3rd does nothing for you in gaming, unless you want to game at 4k.
But if yUh want to bench, it will obviously destroy everything.

Dread, 3 x 2560x1600.....honestly I d'oh think 2 titan is enough, yUh go really need 4 titans to do that, but quad scaling not all that good, so I d'oh think even 4 titan go power that resolution. YUh talking 7680 x 1600 .......

(its d reason I never got my third 30", d hardware to power that with good settings just don't exist.)

3 1080p monitors doable though.

Agreed, 3 24" 1080p very doable, 3 titans and that good, although from d benchmarks arc post, 3 is not scaling too well, 2 looks like enough, ah extra titan just for 5 fps d'oh make sense imo. Have to find some benchies with minimum fps d'oh, that's where a 3rd titan mite make a diff.

And triple monitor gaming honestly kinda buss, so u going to be hard pressed to find small Bessel monitors designed for it. Mite just have to go with 3 standard monitors.

1. You see d size of them thing?!!!! lol
2. You see d price of them thing?!!!! lol

Quote
NEC showed this display off at Macworld 2009 and gave it a list price of $7999.  Pretty high.  Ostendo is making them available directly for a good bit cheaper...but still at $6499.

At that price you can purchase one of the best commercial projectors in the world and just project a 150' screen lol.

So yea, pass on curved displays.

For me is about brand reliance, I aint even bother to check out the other two, because in the world of LCDs, they usually suck as far as image quality, panel speed, and display lifetime/reliability goes.

I only really usually trust Dell and HP monitors, but so far Asus has been doing pretty ok to, so I wont be apposed to an asus monitor. I not buying an LG display. And AOC was king in d days of CRT, they LCD = Meh.

^Kinda what he said.

The Asus seems like the best one out of that particular bunch.

That said, nothing wrong with the LG.
After all, they make Apple displays which are considered to be 'a cut above'.  So I have no problem recommending a LG display.

LG mite make good panels, (for apple), but they final product in their own display is questionable, I see many LG monitors died. And much older Dell LCDs in d same environment running for years. So I personally don't trust LG either.

1 EVGA Titan

Been doing some research out of GATT and saw that 2 Titan is the way to go. In most games they work very sweet together , but when you use 3 cards the performance is more or less the same.

I also manage to set it up in push operation where I did not see no difference in push/pull since I have 3 delta high rpm fans as intake in front the case.

I got the chip stable @4.6Ghz @1.39V OCCT run for 30mins chip reach a max of 63C not bad for a H100i.

Excuse the cable management over the weekend I will fix that when I installed the next GPU.

@1.39V is low still, so yea, you have plenty thermal headroom to play with still.

3 Deltas you say? dude, how can you even be in the same room with that rig? :laughing7:
I test 1 delta, and that thing was noisy like ah dam server, but it powerful! though.

The H100i looks like ah nice lil kit for basic builds. Based on your usage of it, it seems like something I'd recommend for non-watercoolers. Simple, easy to use, good performance.

In regards to load test, I stop using occt, because it used to report machine stable, but it really wasn't. I had overclocks that crashed in games, but passed occt stress test. I switched to linx because of it, that seems to be more accurate representation of stability. Don't know if the latest occt improve though, it's been a while.

Yeah, for those SB-E chips, you need to use Prime 95 with small FFTs for maximum stress.  I guarantee that your load temps will increase.

Still...63°C at 1.39V is rather impressive.   Is that with AC on?

Yea, prime is good too, used to use this one back in the day, but linx access some extra things in the cpu to stress it ah lil more, temps was higher under linx than prime. Have to test latest prime though, wonder if it now supports linpack.

It don't matter to me either way how men spend they money.

But I have to reiterate, 3 titan have very diminishing returns, hell if u have the money I say go for it, if ah extra 10 fps is worth a Grand to u personally, why not .

In terms of benchmarks, 2gpus vs 4 argument moot eh first choice.
Because one of your gpu is equivalent in cost and performance, to 2 of ltchiney 4

YUh talking 2, 2000 dollar gpu setup duking it out.
Same i7 chip.
The competition between these two rigs couldn't be any more epic than it already is.
2 man with money to spend.
I juss have one thing to say.
May the best overclocker win!

But if firstchocie adds a third titan, it basically reset the competition to who buy more shit.
Which takes d excitement out of it for me personally, because obviously 3 titan go eat 2 690 for breakfast.

...but yeah, I did recommend 3 Titans, and advised against 4.

That said, you'll only see the value of those 3 Titans if you're driving some ridiculous resolutions like 5760 x 1080 = three 1080p displays

1 1200 watt psu supposed to be enough for that system with overclocking.

Plus corsair psus put out an extra 1-200 watts above rated output.

It have an adaptor I had found back in the day that does it, but I cant find it now, if I find it ill post it, it was cheap too.

but.

Like said above, u definitely don't need an extra psu. 1200w is more than enough, them kepler cards even more power efficient than previous generations. a single 1200w for 3 titan and an x chip overclocked u'll be just fine.

This is what I powering off a single pp&c 1200 psu:

6 3tb hdd
2 ssd
raid controllers
3 gtx 680
18 external fans
all d case fans
2 pumps
2 light kits
64gb ram
5ghz oc on cpu
gpus overclocked to their mac

And my 1 psu handles all that without breaking ah swet.

U only need more than 1200 w if u going to do some kinda LN2 madness and dealing with serious over-volting etc.
But even then, 2 1200w go be overkill, a 1500/1600w going to be just fine for extreme.

It had a thread on here somewhere where a member did the same two psu setups using the adaptor, think was W1ntry.

You should get one ah these:

http://www.amazon.com/P3-International-P4400-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU

Plug in your system and check how much watts you pulling on idle/gaming /benching-stress testing (i believe this would be the highest load), and really determine if you need that 2nd psu in there.

Just a logical suggestion nah. :)

I guess when I run the 3rd card on the system with full load i will see how that goes.

Also im contemplating weather to LC these cards.

My Room has AC it run almost 24/7 My AC is link to my honeywell smart control panel in the house.. The hotter my room get the cooler the AC will be.

I have it set as 20C and currently the titan with the backplate installed getting 21C with the 837/1137OC without load with load about 43C max.

The without the backplate getting about 25C and with full load about 48C

Of course the fan speed on the card was on max.

I was reading on oc.net it have some chips and cards call golden  batch that uses less voltage and can output high clocks .

So I maybe got 3 of those cards .

Let me get this out of the way first:
I think 4k displays is the future, they sweet. And you are going to need a monster rig to push 1 of these. (3 Titans would serve just fine.) If you plan on going with 3 4k displays, forget about it. Never gonna happen. 4 Titans eh pushing that.

Now, in regards to that specific display you post....how can I put this......HELLSSS NO! :laughing7:
Seiki?.....d name speaks for itself. But brand aside. There are several things wrong with that display.

1. You're capped to 30FPS..........very, very, very very, very bad. I does be so annoyed if my fps drop to 55, being capped to 30 is horrible.

2. It's cheaply built (it have a reason it only cost 1000$)

3. Not having display port going to limit the performance of that display big time.

4. I didn't watch out the entire video, but I'm fairly certain the contrast, color, black levels, etc etc etc, are crap on that particular display.

If you really want to go 4k I recommend this:

http://anandtech.com/show/7157/asus-pq321q-ultrahd-4k-monitor-review

It's clocking in at $3500, but this is a good display. This is d price-range to expect good 4k displays, anything going for 1000$ , is rel cheap no good crap. Is like buying a pirate cam rip dvd instead of a bluray. Spending money to get a i7-x and 3 titan, then to gone pair it with ah knock-off? not recommended atal.

Dell is also poised to release their 4k display as well:

http://techreport.com/news/25128/dell-shows-32-inch-ultrasharp-display-with-4k-resolution

This also is going to be a very premium display.

Personally I buying the dell. But since 4k tech now launching, this stuff is going to be expensive.

In closing, not because it mark 4k on the box means it's a good display. A high quality 1080p display will show better than a crappy 4k display. The 4k display go show text and sharpness better, yes. But a good 1080 display will outperform that display u posted in every other way. For movies, 4k completely pointless at the moment, if u was planning to use it also for that.

For desktop and gaming it has it's uses, but you're going to be sacrificing too much. Mite as well spend yUh money and buy something proper, or not atal.

Messiah is right. 4k is definitely the future. Now normally I would say a good 4k monitor is beyond reach of most people, but considering what we've seen this benchmarking thread over the last few weeks, i'm inclined to say its well within reach for some (you know who you are lol).

Ok, I checked out that Seiki unit when it was first announced. The 40 inch (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=seiki) can be had for "just" 700us$ but as Messiah said, @ 4k res its limited to 30hz, aka 30fps which is pretty crappy for high end gaming. Just to be clear, if you have a powerful enough system, your frame counter could tell you any number over 30fps but the fact is that this TV simply is hardware limited to displaying a max of 30fps. I believe this is largely a limitation of HDMI which DisplayPort rectifies, which this TV doesnt support. Boo.

Now the next step up is something like this Sharp unit (http://www.amazon.com/PNK321-3840-2160-800-LED-Backlit/dp/B00C49R198/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1375453822&sr=1-1&keywords=pn-k321) which does 60hz @ 4k res. I really dont mind getting a 40" version of this when it comes down to $1kus. That'll be a couple years again though but i'm in no rush. We will need significantly more power to push this res....don't even THINK about multi monitor setups with these yet. As far as I know, neither nvidia nor ATI have drivers available to do this yet...but we can dream right...

Watch this though...

^^ Agreed.

And yes, sharp is bess brand, I personally think Sharp has the best TVs right now. So u cant go wrong with Sharp.

There is a way to combine 2 HDMI ports to overcome the limitation of the 30fps, but the seiki don't support that either.

We need the new HDMI standard to launch to fix these issues. but DisplayPort been around so long, and it already solve the issue. Only thing is, the PC market adopted DP, but the Home Theater market didn't. Go be interested to see how it plays out. (My Dell monitor is DisplayPort, u cant get it up to 1billion colors unless u use DP, hdmi just don't have the bandwidth)

Will take in that video in a bit.

Let's be honest: almost no one expected one of the world's first 4K monitors to be ho hum. After all, it has eleventy gazillion pixels. Er, a native 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, but close enough. The gurus over at HotHardware were able to take the 31.5-inch PQ321 for a spin, and predictably, they loved what they saw. Outside of being duly impressed with how the panel handled everything from Photoshop work to gaming, they were also taken aback by the monitor's svelte frame. In fact, they found it a little tough to look back on a 1080p screen after a couple of weeks with this thing -- it's like the SD-to-HD revolution all over again. That said, they did confess that the product feels a bit ahead of its time, and the monstrous $3,500 price tag is certainly indicative of that. Feel free to hit the source link for the full spiel, but the long and short of it is this: if you're in the one percent, buy it.
