Never watched the original but thinking about it since I do like me some good ole violent anime

I'm all hyped for this and all, I kinda thought they'd continue the series where the

original left off, instead of making a remake.

I believe that they are doing both. Remaking the original, while following the story moreso from the manga (saw skullnight in some of those trailers)
 so it would encompass all of the original anime and continue from there.

Oh my freakin word!!! Just watch Arc I and all I could say is WOW. IT WAS EPIC!!! It spans from episode 2 to 10 of the tv series. the animation was mad and the CG stuff was very well done too. i doh business what any reviewer says. i'll most likely take it in again before Arc II comes out. an hour and change well spent. watch this now people!  :protest:

I got a very good 720p English subbed version from Demonoid.
I only watched the 1st 10 mins or so, and all I can say for now is 'gad-DAMN!!!'  :laughing7:

Yes, I saw the second one already.....stayed true to the series.

It was an excellent revisit to the glory days of Anime.

Another solid 10 Slaughtered Chuda soldiers out of 10

Can't wait for the third. That is when things are going to get truly messy and the difference between the series and manga will be brought to bare.

Yeah, just finished watching it. OMFG!!!! This is what I call anime!!! 10 outta 10 for sure! Now I remember why I always considered Berserk to be the one the greatest series to ever be released.

Also, I think if you look up adult anime online, I'm pretty sure you'll see pics from this series all over the place :laughing7: The sheer amount of violence and adult content in the episode alone would make most R rated films look like a Disney special.

I'm typically not a fan of this genre of anime, but the story and action was enough to keep me riveted to the screen.

It doesn't get much better than this...well, unless there are big robots, starships, fighters, lasers and missile-swarms involved.   :laughing7:

And I'm completely on the opposite side when it comes to anime. Not a fan of space and mecha anime (although I still watch a lot of them). Give me a series with a serious tone any day.

Took in the classic Berzerk , released quite in 1988!! 25 episodes.

even for an anime that old it was worth the watch, but it was real messed up at the end

Think u mean 1997 bro. The original run ended in 98.

With that said, I've watch the third film. They stayed pretty much with what was depicted in the TV series (haven't watched the manga, but I'm assuming they stayed true to that too). They added a few new scenes that weren't the original series, but were in the manga, like how Guts survived (no spoiler there I hope).

Oh and it goes without being said that the movie is hardcore. They keep getting more and more twisted with each film. There's enough, explicit sex, extreme violence and scenes of rape to turn most people off. But I for one enjoyed every minute of it (don't judge me). It all came together into a film that cements your disdain for the main villain and makes you understand why the lead is as angry as he is all the time. Really can't wait for the second arc. Solid 10 outta 10 from me.

2D animation hasn't really evolved in the last 20 years, which is a good thing.

A lot of old classics are still perfectly watchable today. In fact, they look even better now since I originally saw them on VHS or crappy 320x240 real media (.rm) and vivo (.viv) files. lol

Back then in the days of dialup when bandwidth was at a premium, you weren't downloading any 720 or 480p files.

No sir, 20mb and 40mb was a FULL episode. Compression and low resolution iymc. lol

Just watched the third movie.

most violent, twisted, messed up show animated or otherwise, Ive ever seen on screen.

Actually loved it...'shudder'

It was a fantastic tale and a defining moment in anime.

Glad that Gattsu and the band of hawks can be seen by a new generation in HD glory.

Still excellent the second time around, though I preferred the methodical story telling of the original 26 episode format over the three movies. Especially when you have such a long wait in between each feature length release.

The inclusion of Skull Knight was welcome. That was a massive omission in the old version.
