Besides Cavill, I'm looking forward to this flick because of helmer Tarsem Singh. Guy has an excellent (and somewhat strange) visual style. His last film (The Fall) was awesome visually but my only problem was that it was a little too slow paced. Had to watch it twice. Hopefully Immortals will be his breakthrough flick.

Now after having just seen this movie I can say Cavill is def worthy of the cape and S shield. I never doubted him more so now after hearing his battle speech.
It wasn't just another 300 tho the similarities are there. The look of some parts reminded me of those drawings of Hindu gods etc. which is not surprising when you look at who the director is (Tarsem Singh).

Well I was there a while ago to see Harold and Kumar and saw a banner saying...iirc...all movie tickets being $9 tomorrow starting 10:30am.
It's probably just tomorrow though, to celebrate their anniversary, not all Mondays.
As for Immortals...the fight scenes with the Gods were pretty badass. I felt like the rest of the movie could have been so much better though. So it was kinda disappointing for me. A generous 6/10 for those godly fight scenes alone.

i found Immortals to be 'meh' predictable plot, the action was 'average' imho. It never really got my juices going. A few cool parts with the effect n ish but all in all i found it average.

this movie... was a utter failure in my book... granted the scenes where Thesius fought were badass... for a mortal and well Poseidon's dive... but that was it... 4/10

If it wasn't for the fight scenes of the "Gods" with the titans, this movie would've flopped. Storyline was seriously lacking man!!!
For a movie that was to have FIGHTING!! I was bored!!!!

I think men went in this movie expecting 300 part 2... sad they not taking it for what it is, a decent movie based loosely around greek mythology with decent pacing, nice use of 3D and good action in their own scenes.

Because the artwork/filmatography looked similar? because it was the same producers? I ask why SHOULD they do exactly the same thing? I for one didn't expect 300 copy and paste and found this movie well done (on its own, ppl stop thinking this is 300 part 2)

yes those 2 things are by itself are enough for people to link the 2 movies.. but in addition.. have you seen the trailers?
massive army one one side, women in silky dresses dancing (oracles) and of course those 2 things you mentioned..
but either way.. i didnt expect it to be a 300 pt2 i only saw the trailer once and didnt realise it was the same producer etc... but the show was still just ok and couldve been better...

Again I just think it comes down to expectations. I just wanted a good entertaining movie and for me it was that and a lil bit more. Or at least stop comparing it to other movies that are in the same vein.

Yes the fighting was good, threw in some MMA etc. but don't get me wrong with the fights it was brutal. I'm talking about the sequencing of the movie. I was not comparing this to 300, don't care who produced it and what not. This movie despite it being ok, had great potential to really hit hard but lacked that true waw factor!!!
Good fighting beats 3D any day but they did not let it flow, hence I was bored and at times a lil confused as to the sequencing of the scenes ( I dunno, might just be me). Yes the star was a beast!!! but the movie left me with the ok that is how d movie done? -_-

I watched this and I must admit it wasn't so bad.
however it wasn't so good either.
The level of violence and action sequences were amazing. I'm not even gonna dare compare this movie to 300 because boy the action was awesome (kinda reminded me of Ninja Assassin for some strange reason but that's a good thing) The costumes and sets were really nice, as well as Henry Cavill's gruff demeanor. Without a doubt he is totally suited for the role of the man of steel.
My only fault was a major one. I like movies with action yes, but I can watch a movie with an interesting story more and honestly the story in Immortals did not challenge my brain so much. I'll actually got out on a whim and say that my primary motive for watching the movie was for the violence and sexual content (we're adults, I'm not putting my shoe in my mouth Just being honest)
In my humble opinion the movie does not suck as some gatters say, but it's far from being good as the heavy hitters that came out earlier this year.

Same point, the trailers made it clear what we would be getting. By now we could tell when a trailer is holding back on details or just throwing everything at you.
But w/e some loved it, some hated certain parts of it but one thing we agree on is that it was entertaining.

I for one am shocked at how someone could hate this movie.
Unless they were blindfolded for two months prior to release and never saw a trailer. lol
Once you took in any of the marketing, you should have had a very solid idea as to what you were going to get!

yea saw this on weekend myself. crap imo. horrible acting, worse portrayal of the greek Gods ive seen to date. Clash of the titans was actually better imo.
