So just throwing this out, does anyone know someone (or if you got the capacity to) who could fix a broken hinge on a screen on a laptop?
Acer Extensa laptop, work great once hooked up to a monitor, but the display is blank.
Here are some pics of the damage

Unfortunately...the only way to 'repair' that is to replace the whole top half that holds the LCD with a new 'shell'.
It sounds like the ribbon cable for the LCD is damaged as well. Some models are modular, and some are hardwired. If it's the latter, then you need a whole new LCD as well.
Fixing that is gonna be costly.

same thing happened to an HP of mine.
Wrapped that sucker around tight with electrical tape.
Not really "show worthy" so it stays at home and does sundry tasks like htpc duty and the likes.

thanks guys. Was the display working when u used the tape wyatt?

Yes, the display was still in good working order. Just hanging on by a thread due to the broken plastic.
I'll try and take a pic later today
