What does the government expect us to eat ? Oil ? Gas ? Aluminium ? Sure we have the money to import food but what if some disaster occurs and ships cannot arrive for a few weeks or months? What if there is a large famine abroad? What would we do for food , The rich will stock food for themselves and leave the rest of us to starve ..... What would we do? The forests don't contain enough animals to feed us for any sustainable period of time and if we eat all they won't reproduce , we can't eat grass or any minerals...
In this situation id guess we'd start off eating our pets , we'll dig up chinese recipes for dogs and cats.. horses etc... Eventually we may have to resort to cannabalism if famine persists , in this case i say we start eating member's of current PNM government first....
We could have a pubic bar b que in the Torouba stadium , if the PNM government doesn't have enough meat among them to feed us all we'll have to turn to the UNC too, maybe throw in a few druglords, the Jamaat.. It would be a good lime.
But seriously ,even if such a situation never occurs, what will happen when we eventually run out of mineral resources? Before then if we aren't self sufficient in basics such as food we will be in a bad position , we won't have anymore ''big wuk'' in oil companies and alot of related industry will stop , GDP will fall and inflation will occur, food will be expensive especially if we have to import it.
