But I must say that the Helms Deep war scene in LOTR:TTT was awesome. No Star Wars war scene ever gave me such a rush.

point taken but i tink he talking bout the episode 1 -2 of both movies seeing that none of them have a third installment at this time

Um, push comes to shove, i find lord of the rings is much better. It is much deeper than star wars, and latley, star wars has been getting quite cheezy i fine. Those lotr books are quite hard to beat, and the detail tolkein goes into is not without reward. It beats starwars in my books anyday, i'm very sorry to say. The movies beat the starwars movies too.

It does make little sense. But not for your illogical reasons.

LOTR owned all bases while it was still a book. A book which spawned every movie, comic, story etc about Dragons, elves, Wizards that u could possibly think of that came after 1950. It's legacy is immeasurable. Too many awards of writing and storytelling did JRR tolkien recieve to be counted, too many authors praised him that can be named. It expands the very definition of the term "classic literature" into fantasy as an artform of real and recognized academic merit? All this was accomplished before it was even a movie....

Let's see Jar Jar Binks compete with that.

LOTR fuh sure any day o' the week includin sunday

But as the fostered child of the force and a Jedi Master, the original Star Wars trilogy is the better of the two. It has all of the excitement, drama and comey anyone can ask for.

A classic example would be in Return of the Jedi. The battle between Darth Vader and Luke. There bodies shadowed and sillouetted by the glow of their lightsabers. Luke having given into his rage unleashs his wrath upon his father. His blows and slash accompied by the most beautiful ochestral music. Now that a movie.

But the person did not specify which was being considered in the trilogy.....the book or the movies. Since SW has very little to offer in the literal world, i'd say that LOTR wins by a landslide. It's the movies that prompt consideration:

Classic filmaking and old graphics VS Cutting edge graphics and excellent cinematography.

and i won't compare star wars and lord of the rings with each other, they are 2 totally different sets of movies. there is no real relation between them.
