Actually the movie was based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller and the movie was shot totaly on green screen so F#@*ing cool. As for the books you could check torrent sites
-
OK i just watched the trailer....b4 i watched it i thought that it was like a modern day war movie...but it isnt.....the trailer sorta reminded me of LOTR.....looks interesting
-

-
one word.........
thatmovielookinglikeitiwillownall!!!!
I remember the first time i saw the trailer for Troy.....when i saw how much ships i was like..........BAWWWWWW
dude u cant compare Troy to this......the trailer alone looks much badder than the whole of Troy
-
yeah but right about thesize of the army in troy, i remember sitting in movie saying, 'woi, check them ships'... 'waitn ah it still have more?'... 'but what the rasclat'
No when i saw the first ship i was like A! that just like AOE........saw more ships....Woi big army there boY!..........saw all the ships.....I wonder if we could reserve tickets for this movie
-
I went back and read the graphic novel again...just to confirm....
I initially thought the GN was o.k....but nothing really earth-shattering.....it's still not. The dialog they've shown from the movie is a direct lift from the pages of the comic. I really hope they embellish the story v/s how it was in the comic. It was very short and not very detailed. When you finish reading the story, you can't help but to feel unattached to the characters. Miller did very little characterization in the comic.
-
went to see it tonight........WALL to EFFIN WALL action. Fantastic movie.
-
kill shivadee he see it already :(
-
went to see it tonight........WALL to EFFIN WALL action. Fantastic movie.
I CONCUR!!!!! I went to see it last night and it was OFF THE HOOK yo!!! The action in it was amazing, man the whole cinema went crazy. None stop action from beginning to end, that's what i liked about it. It's like the best thing since Gladiator.
I encourage everyone to go watch it. I think i'm gonna watch it again myself... ^_^
-
Spoilers for ah action movie? I mean, is like when you see Two Towers and Legolas jump on de horse. It don't really matter whether you know about it beforehand. Somebody could explain it to you or try to show you but is just something that you have to see for yourself. Well, we go see it in a few weeks when it open down here.
-
Saw it. Not all that good. Fun to watch. Awesome. But that just made a great trailer.
It was missing the kinda dramatic builds that draw you to the characters and their struggle. Instead they just yelled and hollered for the whole movie trying to force you to root for the characters. "RRRAAAHHH WE ARE FREE MEN RRRRAAAARRRHHH" *stab* The final scenes fell flat because of that.
The action was sublime though. Really good. That part was worth it.
And it was totally homoerotic & homophobic
-
funny considering greeks were generally bisexual
-

LMAO. I still gonna see it for the fight scenes....which basically what the whole movie looks like.
-
Exactly ONE MORE DAY
Are you ready???

My cousin told me they were in Movietowne and say the 300 trailer.

LOL

ROFL!!! Man say "ZOO" yes lol

orrr daz why yuh say anybudy see Z00 yet

Saw it last night at MovieTowne....I found it was pretty much what I expected. I really don't remember all that with the queen being in the comic....but like I said, the comic wasn't all that....and I suppose that they would have to add some content, or they'd have wound up with a 45 minute move. Unfortunately, I found these parts to be kind of dry....the action was excellent...and there was definitely plenty of action. As alluded to above, there were some really good lines, but also a few really lame duck cheesy ones. I also really felt the two nude scenes were really just thrown in there for the heck of it. They didn't really add anything to the movie...except on serious laugh....when they said they chose only the most beautiful of spartan women to become the oracle.....haha.....gimme a break....in a land of olive skinned beauties, the best you could find was a Rose Mcgowan clone? =p
outta' 10, I'd give the movie a 7....definitely worth seeing....but u ain't gonna die if u don't.
-
pretty entertaining movie
-
I'm this close to naming my firstborn Leonidas
He's a boss yo!!!!! You ain't find that 'god' looked gay :S... telling man to bow down lol.
But i LOVED the part when he stamped that messenger in the chest into the pit woooiiiiiieeee. The sound effects was off the hook, man i wanna see that movie again!
I know you guys loved that Oracle lol ^_^
-
So, I saw the movie tonight and it was good. However, based on all the hype that led up to it, I would say it fell short a little. Yeh, Spartans are all bad@$$es and only a Spartan woman gives birth to a real man ... after it all, I still put it short of Gladiator - the benchmark for this kind of movie. There was just something about that movie that puts it head and shoulders above 300. Maybe it was the artful direction of Ridley Scott. Maybe it was the boss acting of Russell Crowe. Maybe it was that you actually cared about the guy when the movie ended. Maybe it was just his bad@$$ name - Maximus Decimus Meridius.
Now don't get me wrong. I would not dissuade anyone from going to see 300. Just don't expect something on the level of Gladiator and you will be fine. If you want something better than Troy, you have come to the right place. The action was good, enough nudity to satisfy many guys and lots of loud Spartan banter. They could have done more with the guy who said that they will fight in the shade.
-
i gonnan watch it now...yayyyy
-
Ok forgive me...but I've never been to movie towne before........yes yes i live in the bush and what not
However i decided to ketch this flick after class tonight at MT...and all i can say is........WHEY!....didn't know trinidad had cinema's like the states.......
BUT 300 WAS MAD what a great way to start off the year imo
MUST SEE PPL......don't just buy the pirate dvd....spend a lil extra......but keep the youngins home....saw some soft-core stuff. :P
-
wow @ now knowing bout america level cinemas in trinidad ... O.o
that is some hardcore bush yu livin in indeed
-
Cross, like yuh living in Sexie Toy's backyard or what?? LOL
-
aight serious, 300 was ok...had sum real bad lyrics as well as fight scenes but i saw too many other movies in it.
Real can't remember their names but the two guys that had the fightin rift between them and one was the captain's son who had his head cut off. Its the same as in LOTR between Legolas and the dwarf.
The wife and son standing in the field was just as in Gladiator excpet that in Gladiator he was dead and being reunited with his wife.
Probably they used the same strategies but the shield formation jus before they died brought back memories of Gladiator as well.
The hunchback dude was reminiscent of Smeegol from LOTR....outcast type that only wanted personal glory kinda character.
Same goes for the secret meeting of the queen with the politician....if it wasn't taken from the same movie then there is jus too many historical movies being created along the same lines.
I thought the movie was pretty good but as I saw it for the first time...i saw those other movies as well...the lyrics as well was very bad, must say that...real gangsta lyrics indeed.
I think that six out of ten is a fair rating...feel free to comment..positive or negative...makes for a good debate..
-
Apprentice just said exactly what I was thinking throughout the movie. The only thing you didn't mention was which was better: 300 or Gladiator. I thought Gladiator was much better.
-
Gladiator FTW...muss get the DVD...that show is soo badd...saw it like 17 times..literallly
-
AP i understand what you're sayin and yes you do have some valid points but...I think it would be unfair to judge this movie based on gladiator or even troy....there was some matrix in it to...remember when the king was just mashing up men and they kept slowing every hit down....0_0
Honestly speaking neither of the 2 riled me up like this movie....i was litterally holding my breath throughout the entire movie.....
The music was on point...im not even a big rock head but dang i got to get the sound track....action was just plain good..*breathes in*
bottomline, it was fun to look at.
couldn't have said it any better
-
Well, for me nothing in 300 equaled the bouts in the Colosseum from Gladiator. I am going to check out Gladiator today again on DVD. The part with the chariots was one of the best I have ever seen as is the fight with the previous champion and the tigers. Also, for some reason, Russell Crowe can raise his voice and not seem antagonistic like the guy who played Leonidas. You can call Gladiator a historical drama but at the end of the day, I remember the action sequences more than anything else and this is years after the movie came out. Let's see if 300 will last in your mind in a few years. It was good, I agree, but just not great.
-
300....was......interesting.
Not much on story to my opinion, action +++ action +++ and more action.
Favourite quote:
"Wat makes this woman think she can speak amongst men..."
"Only spartan women give birth to real men" <---------- Pwnt?
"our arrows will block out the sun"
"well then we shall fight in the shade"
-
"Haha"
"Why are you laughing"
"We are fighting in the shade"
"Tonight we dine in hell"
Allyuh today i write ah essay based on this movie for my exams....it was hawtt
-
"This is madness"
"Madness?"
"THIS IS SPARTA!!"
-
I never ask men to show me your quotes.....
UnSpartanlike behavior... shame on u all
-
Ey, I hearing a lot of talk going around about how 300 was just "all-right". "All-right" ? That moive was one of the dreadest things I ever see on a cinema sreen. Taht picture put Matrix 1 to shame. The only thing that I cyah put it above is the LOTR, and LOTR had a real big stroy to work with that Tolkien and sons was workig with for years.
300 take something that was chiefly historical and turned it into something real moving and deep. Matrix had rasta-man bawling in the cinema because Neo was dodging bullets, flying,... But 300, to me, was soooo deep, it went beyond the action scenes...
What you appreciate more than anything was the idea behind it. The philosophy behind it was what had man making the war-cry (more like war grunt) while they coming out the cinema and while they lining up in KFC.
That picture was better than Troy and all. I guess Troy you really feel it when Achilles dead. I couln even sleep the first time I read that book. But in 300, all of dem dead out and it was still real good. Best depiction ever of Heroic Death. It even beat back Shane.
Pity it illegal to be spartan in these days.
-
... What you appreciate more than anything was the idea behind it ... Best depiction ever of Heroic Death ...
Again, Gladiator ... Nuff said.
-
Pity it illegal to be spartan in these days.
not according to Crix
-
300 was a very bess movie. Lots of action, but it wasnt DEEP. It was a "videogame" movie. Lots of action to keep you entertained. Perfect for the Trinidad crowd.
Took me a while to like Troy. The fight scenes in that movie you can tell were rushed in comparison to others, close camera, quick motion from half a move into another....they filmed one attack, cut, paste and joined it to another, and it was clear to see....no full frame fighting like in 300.
Matrix and LOTR had FULL FRAME fighting and it was long as well. The Camera did not switch, meaning LOS was heald for a certain time and full motion full frame moves were seen. now THAT is how you do a fight scene.
-
WOIYOI MOvie was reallll bad in my book I going and watch that again an ah takin meh father wit meh too he bong to have to must to like dat!!!
-
I went to watch Pride last night and it finished before 300 did and i just had to sneak in the 300 theatre and watch it AGAIN... but "tonite we dine in hell" gonna watch it again tonite :P
-
that movie was damn Good, long time since i enjoyed a movie so much at the cinema. the action was crazy like that part just before they push the persiands off the cliff, just stomping forward killing everyone chopping legs and stuff. One line i like from that movie.
"Give them nuthing, But take from them Everything!"
-
I saw it yesterday and all I hadda say is BAW... best movie i've seen in ages! and imho the biggest line in that movie was "Only Spartan Women give birth to REAL MEN" (or something to that effect)... that was priceless:
Cost of Persian message b1tch jewelery: 500 gold
Cost of Persian bodyguards: 200 gold
Cost of Persian horses: 350 Gold
Getting wtfpwned in words by a SPARTAN woman: Priceless
And another thing, it SUCKS that in the end they actually LOST that fight.... 3 to 1 ain't bad... but I guess they weren't as good as the 300!
-
yea, this was the best action film I've seen for the year, bar none.
awesome cinematogrophy.
in a word "bess"
A race of warriors yes. True soldiers.
-
Too bad in a way their pride led to their downfall... freedom ain't so free to be sure... but then was it really ever?
-
we might see a sequel though, i mean we didn't see that shadow guy that they showed ontop the moutain (where the oracle was) die. if they did i must have missed it.
-
nah... let's NOT have a sequel... just leave it be... time for some other EPIC story from the history books...
-
Sequel?......uhhhhhhhhhh nah.....i took in again in MT this weekend and AGAIN i was at the edge of my seat....
My best guess would be a prequel where they actually won a big battle......cause I think the whole story in 300 was the fact the 'few stood against many...'
For them to have a Sequel would be a literal kill off of the sparatan storyline...
By chance anyone had got a God of War like feeling while watching this movie? Kratos was sparatan ent?
-
Well a sequel would have to be decades LATER, since the Persian Empire occupied Greece for at least 100 yrs to follow.. something like alexander the great finally managed to get them out by rallying most of europe or something like that (I am not a history boff)... so in a sense the sequel... was a rather queer film (:p @ collin farrell). As I said moving along to the next 'EPIC' war...
-
but then who's the shadow guy? did i miss something?
-
but then who's the shadow guy? did i miss something?
rick ross lol im jus playing
he was no one...jus like the dude that got kicked in the well *i could watch that over and over*
he was just another dude that went to the ivores or however it's spelt to bribe them and learn how to win the war.....
-

wasnt alexander, alexander WAS persian... lawl super duper not history buff lol
the spartans beat the persians. the persians toppled athens and made a nice lil burning crusade across greece, and the other greeks relied on the might of the spartans to take back the war.
they launched their fleet and used the same stratergy of luring the persians into a strait and dessimating their fleet, then the spartans pushed them out of europe and all the way back to persia.
the athenians then took control of greece again, thru money an politics, figures, and used the spartans as the military might of greece.
THey really were the best.
Decended from achilles himself they say...
-
Strange... they said hercules in the movie.. ah well, I had an interesting read here (http://www.victorhanson.com/articles/hanson101106.html). There is no permanence in peace or war, but its nice to read they did win the more immediate victory.
-
It's crixx laertes... he does get carried away REAL easy... its the fanboyism that gets the better of him...
-
How come NOBODY aint mention the hunchback saddess (Ephialtes) who sell out the spartans.
All Xerxes had to do was tell one a he hoes to BREATHE on Ephialtes piggy, and the n!gga was like:
"look de goat-path right DEY hossssss........"
That s#!t had me ROLLIN wit laughter until the bloodshed start back
-
Oh gosh de man never had he sausage blow on let alone touch by anything female (well possibly a goat) so the man was a little excited
-
lol @ Arc post..
I am pleased to announce that I FINALLY saw 300 Monday gone and I will now engage in Spartan talk for the next 7 days (sorry Kaizen, the talk ent get old just yet)
Never have I seen such satisfying acts of gratuitous violence! So much blood and gore.. and.. I LOVED it!!
NOW I fully understand Pablo's sig!! LMAO
The scene with the 'wining' oracle was visually appealing, as was the 'flashing' sex scene...
(damn, I relly ent go cinema in a while)
Anyone have the 'preview' copy?
-
In the instance that one would promote piracy, I would have to deny that I happen to have a DAMN good dvd quality copy of it.... but since I am denying then I must say that I do not have what I claim to not have but have.... O_o
-
ok dood u jus confuse tha shat outta me
-
Xerxes was gay...doh care who say other wise..why do i think so?
" Its not the LASH they fear...it is my DIVINE POWER" - XERXES...........WTMC!!!! nobody cyah tell anyone that he not gay....lawd hav mercy.....ah man tell me he eh see dat?!?!?!?1 WTF??? Not withstanding the fact that he was behind Leonidas and was checkin out his Spartan assets and also he only requires me to KNEEL oppose to standing......have i proven my point?
-
Cost of seeing 300 1st time - $25
Cost of seeing 300 2nd time - $20
Cost of seeing 300 3rd time - $45
Cost of seeing 300 three times - priceless.
Dred I watch that movie without blinking all three times, u know what kinda red eye dat is!
This is the best movie for the first half of 2007. (Leaving d 2nd half for transformers)
-
lol @ red eye.
-
300 more
-
boy... is almost as if the nikkodemus have a rep here for talking s--t, but 300 was real deep outside of the action scene. The throngs of people running around bawling - I am spartan- is not because of the action because it had better action scenes in plenty picture.
Is the Spartan thinkin! Dat was real deep if you think about the movie as a display of bravery - the ultimate in courage if not fearlessnees, the fortitude to do what you believe you should do and damn the repurcussions. I wish I was a spartan, but in reality, I's probably parchment writer. Most people is not no Spartan. Most people in today society falling under the 'women and children banner'. And the rest could probably go under Myrmidon.
How you could say that not deep? That on a whole different level than Troy. Troy real good because I think people just appreciate it as the best depiction of Illiad to date, (and it don't have no myth that could stand up to Illiad, eh. Even Odysseus fall way short on that). But nobody don't go around saying that they's Achillean. Them Spartans give a definition of hero in that movie.
Everytime I see West Indies play, I does have to watch it to revamp the spirit. That picture motivational in the true sense of the word. ( Aussie cricketer = Spartan / West Indies= unmentioned conquered small village)
