Starhawk's getting better!
LBI recently added 3 new gamemodes.
Haven't had a lot of time to play lately but I loaded it up yesterday and found these updates.

http://www.psu.com/a017004/Starhawk-patch-v14-brings-three-new-game-modes
Quote
Coming in patch 1.4, will be three new modes Gatekeeper, Assault and Arena Deathmatch. They'll also be completely free for owners of the game.

Gatekeeper takes players into hawk-only battles, where teamwork will be key to winning battles. Players will have to pick up an energy ball which they will then have to fly through several target gates to increase the value of the ball, without being blown apart, and fly it through the centre target gate to gain points.

Assault consists of teams defending territory from attacking clans, but when territory is lost they cannot re-capture it and must then fall back to hold the next area of the map. In each round the objective will switch for each team, from defender to attacker and vice versa. The team that holds the most territory at the end of the round wins.

Arena Deathmatch brings sheer madness and chaos to keep you on your toes. Players are on their own, with sparse vehicles, random dropping buildings, fast drop pods, smaller maps and faster spawn times.

I LOVE assault mode. In a good game, it actually forces you to attack and defend strategically.
CTF was my fave in Warhawk. But in Starhawk CTF can get a little frustrating, for me at least, when the flag blazes by on a sidewinder and you're there with no real way to help.

Also tried out  the new grizzly exo armor which is basically a smaller, lighter version of the hawks when in mech mode (gonna buy soon... $5US for that? sheesh...). They've got an EMP weapon that affects vehicles and structures. Finally a cheap (rift-wise) way to stand up to those mech-hawks when they come stomping through base when beam turrets aren't available.

And here's a vid with a well-rounded explanation of the dlc including the "pod launcher" (another 5 bucks I believe).

Hope this post isn't overkill. :D

lol@ "My WIFE?"

So many things must have gone through his mind right there.

Now I'm seeing some more shots and, while trailers can be incredibly deceiving, I'm officially psyched.

I was thinking about picking this up at launch (since I'm a Warhawk junkie). But I reconsidered.

For $60 US I expect a "blow-mind" game experience and right now it doesn't seem blow-mind solely on account of some of the other players. Now I did get into the beta a tad late (about 2 weeks before close) but, to me, people seem abuse the good qualities of the game and end up spoiling the whole experience. It looks as though people say "Ok, I'm gonna drop walls... lots and lots and lots of walls. Oh, and turrets... yeeeah... all around the flag. I'm gonna cover every square inch."

Where's the skill at? Why are they turtling to the point where I die the moment I think about looking at the flag? :D I got tired of all that very quickly. Maybe I'm complaining too much? Ehhh... perhaps.

So maybe later on I'll jump in when folks get a little more classy and the price tag is right. Only problem then is I'll just be learning the ropes. Then it'll be a different kind of increased death rate. lol

Regarding the nitpick, wyatt, I thought it was going to go the way you wanted, but the way it turned out seemed way cooler to me. :D

lol @ hanky... you just might need it. heh heh

LOL @ pics... I really shouldn't laugh, but I could swear they want me to :) Kudos for the crop btw.
Somebody should invest some time in sourcing or making better props. Like a guy I read about a while back who made a War Machine costume shortly before Ironman 2. It was like 90% accurate. Seeing something like that here would be great!

That... movie... was... AWESOME!

It did not disappoint. I was concerned that it may have just been run through a bit too quickly (personally, Thor and First Avenger left me hanging). But enough time was taken to allow everyone adequate screen time and the story was solid.

The CGI and green screening was believable (especially since the movie's so fast-paced, you can't keep up with any fake looking stuff). There was a LOT of awesome eye-candy that makes you want to scream "That's so freakin' awesome!" (courtesy Stark and Hulk). The humor was also engaging (Stark again). Plus there were match-ups I think we have all only dreamed of seeing on-screen... I think I could have cried.

And towards the end of the film I asked myself "Soo... where's Optimus?". You'll see what I mean.

I only have two complaints:
(1) I would have liked to see more of the enemy. What I mean is like getting inside their heads, seeing them believe in their cause as much as the Avengers do in theirs. You know, just something to make the whole thing look a bit more perilous. If not that, something like breaking the Statue of Liberty. Could be just me.

(2) I would have liked to see a bit more of Cap, Hawkeye, and Widow...especially Cap. Yeah there's gotta be a lot of smashing and crashing (and boy do I love smashing and crashing). But the other tactical aspects I would have liked to see more of. I like seeing things like becoming disarmed, improvisation, hand to hand combat, getting wounded. Something saying that it's not all about high-handed invincibility.

In the end I loved it and await Avengers 2, HOPING it doesn't suffer from "sequelitis".

*PHEW*
Now to cool down and wait for The Dark Knight Rises. :D

Here's the prologue again... this one has better subtitles.

The whole terrorist feel is intriguing. I really can't wait to see how this all plays out.

Dunno if you guys would consider this "spoilerish" so I'm taking precautions. Spy footage of a fight scene between batman and bane:

Spoiler (hover to show)
The guy's got some other great footage from the set too.

Thanks. I think I'll get one soon then.

Well, in my humble opinion, this hacking move ain't all bad. It should make people (rich/poor, big/small, Sony/gamer) stop and think for a while. And that statement the group made makes them seem like rel badjohns... I chuckled all the way through. :)

cloud storage coming soon!

COOL! That would sure ease the mind, backing up-wise... easy access from a different console.

If/when that gets improved further, I envision the PS4 being about half the size of the PS3 slim... maybe less. No hard drive... with all this jailbreaking business they might think of making it disc-less, no blu-ray drive... yep.

By PS5 they'll probably have figured out wireless electricity (they're making strides) and wireless HDMI. Then it'll be a tiny little black box (with nice rounded edges) with a couple flashing lights. Lol.

The downside to this cloud business? ...at least in the not too distant future? Among others, nothing is tangibly yours. As it is we just buy the right to use their games on disc. If they improve this any more, what's to stop them from having you pay through your nose to get a gaming fix (fees or even fines o_O)? :D

*whispers* it'll be sneaky, but it'll happen.

That DRM thing kinda just takes the fun out of gaming for me somehow. It's not so much whether I have a problem with the hackers or Sony for me, but just the overhanging friction, the distrust.

And it would sure kill thrift... and I'm careful about which games I go for before I take the plunge... painstakingly reading reviews, weighing pros and cons. At $60 a pop I can't afford to be flipping through games like a phone book. And the reselling option was a major plus for me.

Which, guys, brings me to a couple of questions. Where/how do you folks sell your used games?

And what's all the hubbub about Black Ops? I've been reading descriptions and I just can't figure out why it's selling like hot cakes. (This may help me make my next game choice... kinda stupid seeing that my PS3's broken... and I got Uncharted to start up the series... buttons but no pants. *sigh*)

Ok I have an idea, but I'd like a little advice to confirm whether I'm right or what. If I ever get my PS3 fixed (multimeter to do some testing is on the way)... I'd like to try hooking it up to the 27 inch iMac we just got. I mean I've been playing on an SD TV as old as me (came off the assembly line the same month I was born) and while the trusty 21 incher works fine, I'd like to try a little "HDness".

So I was thinking about getting an adapter... HDMI to Mini Display. But they're about US$100 something a pop. Then I thought about doing a little something. If I get an HDMI to DVI cable and then get a DVI to Mini Display it should work... according to a forum post I found somewhere. And, like a true Trini, I thought "Dah go do".

So, this isn't urgent at all, but I was wondering if anyone has tried anything like this before and what you'd recommend. Because, let's face it, this iMac is like an HDTV anyway. lol.

How's this for an interesting Move 'peripheral'?

Might make playing SOCOM 4 a much more moving  experience, yeah?  :happy0203:
Part of me says "AWESOME" another part... "What's the point?". It's real confusing. :D

Well my luck just keeps getting better and better... not. My console YLODed AGAIN. And this time I think the power supply unit is dead. So that's it... hopefully getting another PSU (or fuse) just to get Warhawk out and my MAG saved data off then I'll be moving over to a slim. I... CAN'T... TAKE... IT... ANY... MORE! lol.
