In Trinidad, officials added 15 beds to the San Fernando General Hospital on Friday. They also opened a dengue clinic to follow up on patients who are being discharged quickly to free up more beds. At least one death has been reported. Dr. Anton Cumberbatch, chief medical officer of the island's health ministry, said he is worried that the number of deaths and cases of the more severe hemorrhagic dengue will increase this year. The more people are repeatedly infected, the greater the chance they will develop the hemorrhagic form, which can be fatal, he told a recent news conference according to MSNBC http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38293428/ns/health/

Video games depicting war have come under fire for flouting laws governing armed conflicts.
Human rights groups played various games to see if any broke humanitarian laws that govern what is a war crime.
The study condemned the games for violating laws by letting players kill civilians, torture captives and wantonly destroy homes and buildings.
It said game makers should work harder to remind players about the real world limits on their actions. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8373794.stmthat's why there's a rating system, bub..

India has asked the US to explain why a leading Bollywood film star was allegedly detained for two hours at Newark airport, which serves New York.
Shah Rukh Khan, who was released after India's embassy in the US intervened, said he felt angry and humiliated.
The actor, who is promoting a film on racial profiling, said he was stopped because he had a Muslim name.
But US customs officials denied that Mr Khan had been detained, saying he was questioned for 66 minute http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/8203696.stm

It's March 3, 2008, a brilliant day in Santa Barbara. But for Eric Frimpong, it feels like hell. He's in Superior Court, encircled by sheriff's deputies, making one more trip to the Department 2 courtroom. This is his last stop on the outside for a while, a painful reminder of how far he has fallen. He left his native Ghana in 2005 to play soccer for UC Santa Barbara; a year later he became a campus hero while leading the Gauchos to their first-ever national championship. If the immigrant experience can have a sound, Frimpong's sound was a raucous stadium. But in 2007, just weeks after being selected by the Kansas City Wizards in the MLS draft, he was accused of raping another student on the beach near his house. Now he's a convicted felon.
Frimpong enters the courtroom, which is packed with students and parents, former teammates and coaches -- row upon row of supporters. They've come for the sentencing that concludes a trial that has rocked this community: People v. Eric Frimpong. Or more accurately, People v. Eric Frimpong and His People.
A victim's advocate reads a statement on behalf of the accuser, referred to in this story and in news coverage throughout the trial as Jane Doe. "I don't care that he's a soccer star…and I'm a nobody," the statement says. "Eric Frimpong ruined my life." http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=4300383

Lin Zongxiu, from the southwestern province of Sichuan, heard in 2008 that soup made with a man’s head could help cure her daughter who had suffered from psychiatric problems for years, the Chengdu Commercial newspaper reported.
Lin and her husband decided to enlist the help of a man in December who knocked unconscious a drunk 76-year-old passer-by before beheading him, the paper claimed.
The couple then gave their 25-year-old daughter soup made from the man’s head, and duck.

A 23-year-old woman is accused of getting a friend to kill her Jack Russell terrier and skinning the puppy to make a belt out of its hide. Krystal Lynn Lewis and Austin Michael Mullins, 26, were being held Friday in the Muskogee County jail on $25,000 bail each. They were charged with one felony count of cruelty to animals. “We’re talking about a 6- or 7-week-old defenseless puppy,” said sheriff’s deputy George Roberson. “That’s pretty heinous and sadistic.” A Muskogee County judge ordered a mental competency hearing for both defendants. Lewis wanted the puppy, named Poplin, killed because it was a gift from a female ex-lover with whom she doesn’t get along, said Muskogee County sheriff’s deputy George Roberson. Roberson said Mullins shot the terrier 10 times with a .22-caliber pistol. Lewis skinned the animal at her apartment and nailed the hide to a board. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6488408.htmlwtf?

Apple boss Steve Jobs received a liver transplant about two months ago and is expected to return to work later this month, a US newspaper has reported.
The Wall Street Journal said the Apple chief executive would be returning to his job on schedule, but may initially work part-time.
Neither Mr Jobs nor a company spokeswoman confirmed the report, the newspaper said.
Mr Jobs ceased his normal management role more than five months ago.
In January, he announced that he was being treated for a "hormone imbalance", and had been losing weight throughout 2008.
Mr Jobs co-founded Apple in 1976. He left in 1985, before returning in 1997 and becoming full-time chief executive in 2000. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8110625.stm

Lionsgate and Nu Image/Millennium, the two companies behind the Conan reboot, might have found their new Conan -- and he bears striking similarities to the old Conan.
The companies are in talks with a 41-year-old Austrian actor named Roland Kickinger to play the title role that Arnold Schwarzenegger made famous in the 1982 classic "Conan the Barbarian." http://www.riskybusinessblog.com/2009/06/new-conan-schwarzenegger.html

Along with news that Battlefield 3 is in development, Electronic Arts chief operating officer John Pleasants revealed another major announcement at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference today. A new game in the Need for Speed series (yes, another Need for Speed game on top of the already in development Need for Speed: Shift (pictured above), Need for Speed: Nitro, and Need for Speed: World Online) is in the works at none other than Criterion Games, developers of Burnout. It was previously announced that four games in the series were in development, but the secret fourth game was supposedly being worked on at EA Black Box.
"We've taken the Burnout team and combined it with our Need For Speed franchise," Pleasants said at the conference according to G4tv.com. "So we now have that in our favor because that Burnout team is probably one of the more online-centric and notably high-quality game developers that we have out at Criterion."
This of course casts some doubt on the immediate future of the Burnout series. At the same time, it's entirely possible that Criterion will continue to support the latest Burnout incarnation, Paradise, through DLC packs while also working on developing this newly announced Need for Speed. The Big Surf Island add-on that's coming tomorrow shows the size and scope of what can be added to the Burnout universe in lieu of a sequel. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174729i hope they don;'t abandon burnout.....
