Trading Grounds / Re: WTB Am2+/AM3 MB
« on: January 10, 2011, 09:24:18 AM »
yup wound up being the mobo.  So, think I will take your advice...pay the 315 for a temp board, then when I go up in April, do a complete switch.  Buy a i5 quadcore, mobo, ram, case, bd burner.  Pull the hard drive, vid card, use an exisiting 850w power supply, to make a new system.  Then take an old ide drive add it to the am3 board set up, use the on board graphics and give it to my kid.

Thanks again.

unplugged everything again, reset CMOS, and it fired up with nothing plugged in.  Systematically plugged in parts til it quit responding.  It was the Front Side USB.  Reset CMOS again, left it unplugged, and thought I was golden....until I plugged it into the monitor....and am getting no output.  Gonna' mess with it a bit more tonight.  But have looked at the ASROC...problem I saw is, isn't that a big step back from the 790x?

am guessing motherboard is no good on my computer.  Not starting up, changed power supplies...same thing.  Only symptom I had was that the mouse light didn't turn off one night, so I used the switch on power supply to turn it off.  Checked it in the morning and computer wouldn't even start.  Swapped around Ram (removed sticks, moved them, etc),removed all components and reinstalled them, and still nothing...no beeps or anything.  SO....gotta get a new MB and see if that's the problem.

I WTB an AM2+/AM3 mother board capable of handling pcie, a 3.2ghz black processor, and at least 4gb of ddr2 1066ghz ram.

nah, wasn't offering a chance to enter a new key, however on the technet site some dude showed me where to find the place to change it.  =)  thanks though!!!

But FYI, the error code was the same as the fellow above....because I had put the key on the same computer for a total of 4 times, the last time registered as too many already on that key.  BUT, if you run across anybody else that has the same problem, if you go to control panel, system and security, system...there is a place at the bottom that says "change windows activation key" and you can change it right there.  Funny the number of people on the tech site asking the same question without solution....on top of that, you'd think they'd have put it up somewhere in the "search" functions of control panel or their own website to find it!  hehe the REALLY funny part was that the tech support telephone number I called at MS (at the cost of about $50) wasn't much help either, but at least he got me on to the technet site.

did you get your issue resolved?  I have the same problem....dl'ed the rc and then had to reinstall twice due to corruption issues with the nvidia 260 graphic card etc....contacted windows support to be told they don't really have a live support for rc 2007.....they redirected me to a website, which didn't really have any solutions for windows 7...I have a new key, but cannot figure out how to overwrite the other one so that it will activate my windows....anybody?

Thanks to the dilligent efforts of Noob and HardOC, my rig is up an running with near perfection.  Noob  spotted me a dual molex to single pci-e connector, and Hard advised me to go ahead and connect the motherboard with a 4 pin for now til I need to overclock....

System running beautifully, Windows 7 up and running with a 27minute install mark.  Ran CoD last night at max settings without lag of any sort....sweet machine....

Many thanks guys....

Noob...g'head and close off the thread?  =)   :violent5:

Noob - where are you located?  I could try the molex connectors, though that offer for the power supply is sounding reaaaaaaal good.  So far, I still have a job, but the day isn't over and the jerk (aka boss) likes to give out memos towards the end of the day, so you don't have time to sabotage anything in the office....muwahahahahah.

Just got back from the states with the starts of my new computer..it was supposed to be a full package, but I screwed up with the power supply....

I wound up with a 450w that just won't run what I built...and the 550 I have at home is closer, but still short a pin....

What I need is a minimum of 550w with 2 6 pin PCI-E's...a 24 pin mb connector....2 - 4 pin mb connectors....2 sata-2's....and 6 standard 4 pins....

what I am trying to put the final touches on is this...

AMD Phenom II x 2 Calisto Processor (hope it unlocks to x4)
Gigabyte MA790x-UD4P Board
NVIDIA 260GTX PCI-E
1tb Sata2 Drive
1 Blue Ray Burner

Unfortunately, looking like I may get fired on Monday....soooooooo...can't spend a lot of cash on it, but can spend some....also will be scrapping down my former system which has a Athlon Athlon 1600+ 1.4ghz processor with 1gb of DDR1, SB Live Value (PCI), Network Card (PCI), and a NVIDIA GEFORCE 5200fx).  I'm willing to trade off those old parts in my efforts to obtain a working power supply for the new system.....or some can do some type of purchase....just let me know if interested....

paired with Rambo....Rambo looked like an academy award winning movie...

Jumper was TEH $uck!  The plot was too convoluted and the ending was mega-ghey.

yeah...I too found the premiere a bit disappointing.  I found that I liked Chuck and Journeyman better...especially the latter.  I guess it's more of a anti-hype thing....you get all jacked up cuz your favorite show (well, 3rd favorite for me) is about to premiere...and well, it just wasn't as hot as you'd imagined....

as for Peter...

I'd have liked it better prolly if he stayed dead...but we'll see....

heh...can you imagine the processing power required to even process all the crime here?  =p
