I didn't know that it was possible to play from here, as signup requires an us address - at least that's what I heard.

hehe, I thought cussing was an integral part of gaming. What good is a total victory without the whining and cussing of your opponent ? =) There's no true lan party w/o some serious cussing - and that is good.
The key is to control it - and I know many gamers have a problem with that and start taking stuff way too seriously.

there's an easy workaround for that - emule's ich (intelligent corruption handling) is the answer - if part of a file is corrupted, you only have to re-download about 180 kb of data. In addition to that, I'd highly recommend installing PeerGuardian or ProtoWall and update the blocklists regularly - to weed out all those bad bad ap2p ips =) http://www.bluetack.co.uk/index.phphttp://www.methlabs.org/PeerGuardian in particular works like a charm and also includes blocklists for known spamsites and trojan ips.

Windows is too much hassle now, the first time i installed WINXP pro i didn't back up the activation file and now i have a copy of XP pro that i cannot use ligit anymore ... DAMN! you know, you can still call ms support in argentina or whereever that was where I called and have it reactivated. I had to do that too, since I'm updating my machine on a constant basis. I'd highly recommend Ubuntu linux for newbies - I've been running it on a testbox for a couple months now and it works like a charm - very accessible.

I came across one installed on a client's pc the other day, turned out to be some serious malware - crashed the entire system after a routine spybot sweep name was porn patrol or something. dunno, I feel parents shouldn't buy pc's with internet access for their 10-year-olds. the internet is no place for kids to begin with.

thanks for the info....the last time I called Nanan's and read the spc number, they said they could mod it, but it would be $1000 (about what it will cost me to buy a new one in the states if I needed to).
You are right about the folks that said it would decrease the longevity of the system being folks that don't have one....it was all hearsay on their part.
check this page ( http://www.divineo.com) and look for the swap magic USA + slide card offer (19.99 us) in the ps2 chips and development section - that is by far the easiest way to play your dvdr's. no need to pay 1000 TT

well yeah paying full price for a mere update sucks big time indeed. fortunately last years titles sell insanely cheap in the us (~7-8 us) but how about that konami game , what's the name ? Winning eleven 8 ? I heard only good things about that so far, did any of u guys play that b4 ?

Heck, Madden should come complete with every team ever...complete with player likeness for all those players. Anything less, I will more than likely deem a disappointment. They have no reason to do that - I was stupid enough (being european and football fanatic) to buy into their fifa franchise - getting a miniscule update every year. EA stopped innovating a long time ago - it's all about squeezing the license and screwing the consumer

I don't think there's anything wrong with buying an xbox now - I just bought mine @ amazon.ca
they're still selling the holiday bundle (+ amped 2 & top spin) for a mere 220 can$ - I'd say that's a pretty good deal.
Once you're through with xbox gaming, you slap evox on the hd and use it as a mediaserver - can't get a pc for that price.

the sc2 ps2 version was just lame, with choppy and blurry graphics and the worst special character.
link just owns on the ngc - I agree with the controller suckage though.

I don't think there's a platform out there that owns all others. Each platform has it's pros and cons.
I wouldn't even think about touching a shooter on a console - I'm still wondering why Halo was such a success on the Xbox - considering the rather mediocre appearance on the pc.
RTS games are also out of the question.
When it comes to sports- or beat 'em up games however, consoles win hands down - fifa or nba street just feel better + you have instant multiplayer. Just invite a couple friends and you're good to go.

maybe they should've added some sort of telephone or fax activation for retail boxes. Perhaps something similar to the winxp activation method. I'm quite sure though that valve is going to improve their service over time

I like steam and would love to see more gaming companies embracing the system, since its circumventing import duties, high shipping costs and censorship in certain countries.
Yes, it's not perfect and has it's flaws and I also experienced annoying downtimes. The resell issue that was mentioned in the article is imho violating European law and is supposed to be already under investigation - still it's a system worth supporting.
If I get the opportunity to download the game at a lower price than the retail box (online distribution is supposed to be a lot less expensive) , say 39 US instead of 49 US - I can't see why it should be bad.
