Mac Mini 2011

Price $4000 ONO

This mac has been sitting idle and unused for far too long. Time to sell it and let someone who can put it to better use enjoy it.

Specs:
Intel Core i5-2520M (2.50 GHz  dual-core, hyperthreaded; Turbo up to 3.2GHz)
8GB DDR3 RAM (can take 16GB)
120GB SSD (for OS) plus 1TB HDD
Radeon HD6630M onboard graphics
4 USB 2.0 ports
Firewire port
HDMI and Mini-Displayport outputs
Ethernet and WiFi
Currently runs a recent clean install of High Sierra (10.13). You can install as old as Lion (10.7)

What you get:

Mac mini + power cord (of course)
Bluetooth Apple mini keyboard (with new AA batteries)
Bluetooth Apple mouse (with new AA batteries and a spare battery cover)
Bootable USB flash drive with installer for High Sierra
Mac media remote
MiniDisplayport to VGA adapter

Serious buyer will be required to visit my premises and test it to ensure it meets their needs before confirming purchase. Walk with whatever software and devices you want to try on it. $4000 is not casual money to jump out.

Trading Grounds / ITX Motherboard and CPU
« on: June 30, 2016, 10:31:13 AM »
(Thread resurrected for Deja Vu purposes)

Selling these two items as a combo:

Gigabyte GA-B75N ITX motherboard, BNIB - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4405#ov

Intel Core i5-3570K CPU, used - http://ark.intel.com/products/65520/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz

Did a test install such that If you install Windows 10 Pro, it will automatically activate.
You get a Mini-PCIE Wireless-N card as a bonus, you supply you own antenna cables. My advice: get them from a dead laptop.
Custom cooler installed on CPU (stock CPU back plate for the cpu holding lever had to be removed though)
You have to supply your own RAM.

Price - $1200

Post if interested. First come, first served

Asus UL30A Laptop,

4 years old. Purchased in November 2010, 13.3 inch screen, 4 lbs weight

Ole Talk / The Sexodus of Men from Society
« on: December 10, 2014, 10:20:04 AM »
I came across a two-part article series recently which I think is worth discussing:

http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-London/2014/12/04/The-Sexodus-Part-1-The-Men-Giving-Up-On-Women-And-Checking-Out-Of-Society

http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-London/2014/12/09/The-Sexodus-Part-2-Dishonest-Feminist-Panics-Leave-Male-Sexuality-In-Crisis

IF the original links above do not work, use this (first part only):
http://www.onenewspage.com/n/US/750rop18h/The-Sexodus-Part-The-Men-Giving-Up.htm

Y'all think it harder for men to be men in today's society? Will those of us who have sons have it harder to raise them to be solid men, uncorrupted by feminism?

Trading Grounds / FS: 2008 MacBook
« on: October 11, 2014, 08:15:20 AM »
So I am selling a Late 2008 MacBook.

Tech specs here: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook-core-2-duo-2.0-aluminum-13-late-2008-unibody-specs.html

I recently repaired it, replacing the battery and trackpad.
Known issues:
- The built-in wireless does not work (even after replacing it), thus a USB wireless adapter has to be used.
- It does have some corner dents from falls.

I've done a clean install of Mountain Lion and it runs very nicely. Most likely it can run Mavericks as well.

Price: was $2500 now $2100

Ole Talk / I hererby give Amazon the finger...

Open a distribution center in Florida? really? Increased prices in we mudda so and so:

http://www.wtsp.com/story/news/local/florida/2014/04/16/amazon-distribution-centers-sales-tax/7805923/

Quote
Ruskin, Florida – Two new Amazon distribution centers are under construction in our area.

With one located in Lakeland and the other in Ruskin, it will mean the items that customer order from its site may arrive at their homes than much sooner than ever before.

A 1.1 million square foot site is being erected in Ruskin on 30th St. SE just north of State Route 674, while the Lakeland location will be situated at 1760 County Line Road.

When contacted by 10 News on Wednesday afternoon, an Amazon representative said both locations will employ and estimated 1,000 full-time employees with "highly competitive wages, comprehensive benefits on day one, bonuses and stock awards."

It is hard to argue with a company that is moving into our area to create more jobs.

As a company that previously had no physical location in Florida though, Amazon had the luxury of never charging a sales tax to customers (even though customers are required to pay it, but often aren't aware)

But since Amazon will open these two new facilities, beginning on May 1st, the popular online retailer will begin to charge customers a sales tax.

"We're estimating about $80 million for the first year that Amazon will be collecting sales tax back to the State of Florida," said Crystal Laake with the Florida Retail Federation.

The organization says that Florida has been losing $800 million dollars a year from online retailers with no presences in the Sunshine State and do not charge a sales tax to customers.

While excited about the money that Amazon will contribute to the state's coffers, they continue push efforts to get other online retailers to charges sales taxes to customers, who they say have an unfair advantage over brick-and-mortar stories.

Amazon did not give a specific date for the opening of either location, but said they are moving quickly.

Hiring will begin a few months prior to the opening of each site.

Those interested applying for a position with the company can visit the Amazon Fulfilment website.

Trading Grounds / Need help testing a Core i7-920 CPU
« on: April 08, 2014, 05:33:28 PM »
I am in the process of trying to Resurrect a Dell Studio XPS 435MT that a customer abandoned after it stopped booting.

Thinking it was the motherboard was bad, I ordered a new one, but still no POST.

Tried different RAM, video card and power supply. No luck. All I get is the "fatal" solid amber power light as soon as i apply power.

So I am asking someone who still running an X58 motherboard (and lga1366 CPU)  (or any lga1366 based system) to assist me with my troubleshooting to confirm if my CPU and/or new motherboard I bought is bad or not.

I am sure we can work out some reasonable compensation for your time and effort.

PM or post. I have just under 30 days to return board if it is indeed bad.

Trading Grounds / FS: EVGA GTX460 2Win Video Card
« on: March 27, 2014, 07:31:20 AM »
Selling this EVGA GTX460 2Win Video Card.

I've had it for almost 2 years, much of which it sitting idle in its packaging as I have no PC capable of powering it.

Essentially "SLI on a stick"

Performance-wise, it is equivalent to GTX 580, 660, 660 Ti.

To run this card you must have:
- A PSU of at least 750Watts with 2 8-pin PCI-E connectors;
- A case that can comfortably fit a 12-inch long card. Said case must also have very good ventilation.

Only known issue: It seems to not like to give a display until you actually hit windows desktop.

May 2014 Edit: Tried out the card again on a Dell PC with no on-board video and it worked perfectly. Display from the time you put it on.

Asking Price: $1100 or best offer. Looking for a quick sale.

PM or Post if interested.

SO I just bought a new 1TB drive from a major PC store and found that they sold me the slowest possible drive ever

This drive designed for use in 24/7 video storage environments e.g. in a DVR. You'll be disappointed if you use it as a boot drive and looking for performance.

Cost: $500

In a nutshell,

I am troubleshooting a Dell Precision 670 Workstation that not booting up. The motherboard was recently replaced due to blown capacitors (board purchased by owner) but when I try to boot, I get the diagnostic codes indicating RAM issues.

Already tried one stick at a time, different slots (anything other than slot 1 or 2 causing beep code; silent otherwise - stupid board ), even removing one of the two processors with VRM. Nada.

It is 2 x 4GB DDR2 ECC sticks and I want to isolate whether is the RAM or the board that's bad (but I feel is a bad board they get)

This be quite urgent, so you can give me a pull out, it is appreciated. Especially if you have access to a Dell Precision 670

In case you all did not know, I am in a Wagon club named the "Y Wagon Club"

In a meeting we discussed having a Gaming night at the Cyril Ross home

Now the Cyril Ross Home is a home or orphaned kids who live with HIV.

I recently learned that the home was refurbished and their TV room got a n upgrade with a big flat TV (size to confirm)

I have been delegated with arranging this event as we work with the kids every other month.
So I turn to you guys for ideas and assistance in pulling this off. The kids will definitely enjoy this.

I'd like this to happen before the end of the year as it been toyed with since last year. I'm looking at loaners of consoles, games, controllers, and maybe an extra TV.

Consider it a GATT/Y Wagon Club collaboration

Discuss.

Found this link in a review on Amazon

Clearly from the review, "a charger is "not" a charger:

http://www.righto.com/2012/10/a-dozen-usb-chargers-in-lab-apple-is.html

From this (and reading a lot of Samsung charger reviews) I just realized that the majority of the "genuine" Samsung chargers on Amazon - with Prime shipping to boot -  are fake...

Not good for your device...
