« on: August 25, 2006, 04:19:20 PM »
Soem sad and surprising nes:

Mr. Noor Hasanali, former president of T&T died, and was also buried today.

The news came to me as a real surpise, more for the burial than anything else.
Cause of death not known.

He's the only president who didn't allow alcohol at the President's House.

Microsoft Releases Windows Product Key Update Tool
Posted by Daniel Fleshbourne on 15 August 2006 - 18:56

The best and most cost-effective way for customers to acquire Windows software is preinstalled on a new PC. However, more customers are becoming aware that they are running non-genuine Windows on their PCs. The Get Genuine Kit gives you a cost-effective solution to help them get legal, deepen your customer relationship, and be there as a trusted advisor.

How It Works:

Acquire the Get Genuine Kit from an authorized Microsoft® OEM distributor.

Affix, or instruct the end-user to affix, the enclosed certificate of authenticity (COA) label to the PC.

Microsoft recommends, but does not require, that on the end user's computer system you either:
Run the Windows Product Key Update Tool
Perform a re-install of Windows XP
Perform a clean install of Windows XP

Either you or the end customer must do one of these things in order to receive updates, upgrades, and support services.

The Get Genuine Kit is available from an authorized Microsoft OEM distributor in packs of 1 or 10.
1 license pack contains: 1 COA label, 1 media and 1 end user license agreement (EULA)
10 license pack contains: 10 COA labels,1 media and 1 EULA
10-packs must be used for a single customer and must not be divided among multiple customers.
Bits are similar to full packaged product bits in that they will not wipe clean the hard drive upon installation.
Microsoft provides product support for this Kit. This differs from OEM system builder software which the PC Manufacturer supports.
The license is NOT transferable to another PC.

This is a nice idea from Microsoft to get people to go legal.... from online posts i've read it costs just US$150 to convert your pirate copy to a legal one (most ppl getting pirate XP Pro).
Perfect for the small-time system builders.
I just don't like the idea that the license is non-transferrable to another PC... that just sucks for us who constantly change

Thoughts anyone? Anyone brave enough to try the Windows Product Key Update Tool?

This country real nice, yes!!

you is a CJ... yuh "allegedly" interfere with a case. the police decdie that they go charge yuh and you able to get a court order giving you quite literally legal immunity higher than that of the Prime Minister?

"I doh fine allyuh have a good case to charge me. I go file an injunction and let the court decide if all yuh could REALLY arrest and charge me for perverting the course of justice. Doh even play yuh snooping 'round me house or office with any warrant!! Haul yuh dutty MC, CoP, DPP, AG, and de PM!! I AM the Chief Justice!!"

EDIT: I think iI really want to be a chief justice. I go run BIG weed block, and when i hear i am to be arrested.... file a block seeking judicial review of my weed block and why i must be arrested, leaving me and my boys immune to the police.. I love TNT!!

comments on this one, please.. I really want to know what people saying on this...

Ole Talk / A million dollars a head!!
« on: June 24, 2006, 06:49:26 PM »
It is confirmed. The Soca Wariors have goten their million dollars..each

3/4 in UTC units and the rest cash. even Beenhakker get. Yorke get 1.25M

They all get The Chaconia Gold Medal (ah fine they shouda get the Trinity Cross  though (offense intended to those who want it changed...but thas another topic altogether))

I think i gonna start back training for competitive football (for $1M? hell yeah!) .... the fete match thing i on the last couple years put me out of form... make the national team for 2010.
in the interim GAT should form a football side..."GATT FC"...i wonder whod be the star players??

I  can burn down M$

After spending close 3 days downloading Vista Beta 2  (all of 3.13GB)
Having to repair the drive I d'loaded it on using SpinRite (had bad sectors) after it fail to burn the DVD initially
finalliny burining the DVD

During install I keep getting an Error code 80070241 and the instalation fails. It happens at around 25%.

anyone having similar problems?

Consulting the almighty Google it appears to be a common problem

Suggestions i have found:
- re download and hope the connection don't drop the whole time (yeah right!)
- burn at lowest possible speed (so 4X not slow enough??)
- do an MD5 checksum (which M$ doesn't provide)
- order the DVD (@ US$16 and wait up to a month for it to come....i don't think so!)

P.S if anyone was able to do a successful install, let me know... hook me up with a copy. I want the 32-bit, English.

Ole Talk / Slovenia 3 - 1 Trinidad & Tobago
« on: May 31, 2006, 06:55:32 PM »
Watched the Slovenia-TT game today.

Was very disspointed.

Slovenia 3 Trinidad & Tobago 1
Trinidad & Tobago were given another World Cup wake-up call when they were beaten 3-1 by Slovenia on Wednesday in a warm-up match.

Milijove Novakovic scored a hat-trick for Slovenia who went to the last World Cup but did not qualify for this year's tournament in Germany.

Both of Novakovic's early goals came after defensive blunders from the Caribbean side.

The visitors got themselves back into the match when Chris Birchall pulled them back into the match with a goal.

Novakovic then made it 3-1 with 14 minutes to play after some hesitant defending from T&T whose goalkeeper Shaka Hislop fumbled a shot.

Evans Wise got a late runout for T&T on the day he was called into the squad as a late replacement for Silvio Spann who has been forced out with injury.

Trinidad never look so sloppy!!  We were 2-0 down after 16 minutes.
Imagine we had Diwght Yorke playing as a stopper!!
Birchall as usual had another wonder strike to score the lone one goal for us.
Shaka save a shot but was too slow to recover to stop the rebound for the 3rd goal

Some Sloven guy get a hat tirck

in conclusion, if THAT was a warm-up game, I am very concerned for the real thing on the 10,15, and 20 June!!

Hardware, Tweaking & Networking / Unusual SATA HDD problem
« on: May 19, 2006, 04:19:04 PM »
HEar this scenario.

1. bought a new Western Sigital Caviar SE 80Gb serial ATA HDD
2. hook it up to my 2 wk old MSI KM4M motherboard. thing won't spin up. Not recognized by bios.
3. disconnect data cable and leave power cable plugged. drive spins, but obviously still won't detect (no data cable!)
4. return it to store and it work fine on their motherboard, show up in bios and everything. Tech puts jumper on drive for power management
5. Still won't detect or spin up when I returned home (see 2., 3. above). change data cable, SATA port, power cable, unplug other devices, check bios settings. no effect. mobo bios is most recent verson.  I currenty have another WD 200GB SATA that has been working fine.

any ideas??

Ole Talk / What NOT to do while in jail
« on: April 27, 2006, 07:58:12 PM »
LAWD!! how can a ganja man be this dumb??

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - A judge changed a sentence from six months in prison to eight years after a teenager convicted in a drive-by shooting wrote a letter asking a friend to take over his marijuana dealings.

Aaron K. Lawless, 18, agreed to testify against two men who prosecutors say set up the shooting that killed 19-year-old Alisha Quillen last July. The two men were sentenced to eight years in prison while Lawless got six months. He had only 20 days left to serve.

Knox County Criminal Court Judge Mary Beth Leibowitz gave Lawless the shorter sentence even after learning he lied about his role in the shooting.

Leibowitz changed her mind about the sentence last week after authorities intercepted a letter Lawless wrote to a friend about "pushing some weed" while he is on probation.

IDIOT!!
Dave Chapelle should do a show on this one...

It seems that Apple now has come up with their own way of making Windows XP run on mac, and it real easy (and free)too:

Is an 85MB .dmg file download. I would love to find someone with an intel based mac to try this on and see for myself. We know that it has been done already, but at least there is a 'no-brainer' factor in it. Just might make me buy a mac mini now.  ^_^

Hardware, Tweaking & Networking / Wireless Bridge Hardware Options
« on: March 23, 2006, 07:32:43 PM »
Ok fellas here's de scene:

I gonna set up a wireless link for a company.....

Quite simply they have 2 buildings about ...200 meters from each other

Building  1 have dsl. Building 2  using dial up. Each building have a small netowrk of about 5 computers.

They want me to set up a wireless link between the two buildings so that all computers in both buildings have hi speed internet.

Setting up  the router and security is easy enough for me. I gonna use the D-Lnk DI-624 wireless router in Building 1. I also gonna use directional antennas to focus the signal at both ends of the bridge.

The question is what to use at the other end to form the wireless bridge? So far my reearch come up with 2 devices:
D-Link DWL-2100AP
D-Link DWL-G820

What i need to know is if the above mentioned bridge devices are that reliable.
Feel free to suggest any alternative devices (including cost and where to buy) if you think what you suggest will work better. ( But I swear by my DI-624!!)
