Hardware, Tweaking & Networking / Re: TSTT DSL packet loss« on: May 09, 2005, 09:35:08 PM »
Its sad really. If it ain't just pl its also 56k pings and the packet loss is constant now making online gaming unplayable. When I first got it last year online gaming was playable at anytime of the day then a few months ago it was constant pl and the occasional high pings(56k and higher) during daytime now its 24hours a day. Pings aren't as low as they used to be as well. Anyway Tstt's internet has steadily sucked ass for years since its run by a bunch of n00b monkeys with hammers. With their adsl, they basically took a very promising service and run it into the ground.
gg tstt. 23
Those of you who play ut2k4 should check out this mutator. Its been out for a while now but the latest version(1.6) adds a new enhanced net code feature. Its a nice feature that makes the gameplay so much smoother(esp. for higher pings, unless its too high maybe) and gives you an offlinelike feel, similar to a zeroping mod. So you don't have to be a wannabe psychic with your guns anymore.
If you play ut2k4 online you should definitely check out a server that runs utcomp1.6(not the betas unless its beta8) with enhanced netcode on. Of course if you're on adsl it will help you more than a dialup user. If you're on dialup don't hesitate to give it a go, I haven't tried it on dialup and it may not be as smooth with a 250+ ping but it should definitely be an improvement over the regular netcode. The servers I frequent I ping from 104-150 and in many situations I've been able to rack up more kills than ever before and achieve higher scores.. Of course a good [40 or 50 pinger will still own you but with the enhanced net code you're almost on an equal footing now. The guys who made this did a good job I wonder how the f I managed without it. You don't have to download and install it to try it(unless you're a server admin of course), just find a server with utcomp1.6 mutator on it with the enhanced netcode enabled. I can pour out some server ips if anyone wants. Oh yeah more info on utcomp here. 24
PC Gaming / DSL Upgrade? The need for speed« on: February 09, 2005, 11:48:39 AM »
Download speed on files are better... but the pings to servers online are still the same? As in no difference from 128k at all. Please tell me this doesn't have anything to do with distance.

PC Gaming / Games you,ve never beaten??« on: June 24, 2004, 04:20:42 AM »
I've been trying to beat The Sims for over 4 years now. I can't seem to beat it.
![]() I know it doesn't have an ending! Duhhh! But seriously we haven't been beaten millions of games for reasons such as we simply never played them or never had enough time to play them through. So its a longass list =) 31

PC Gaming / Is E.A. PC Games worthwhile?« on: June 10, 2004, 01:22:43 PM »
Need For Speed has been going downhill lately. I got bored with Underground within 2 weeks of playing it despite the new car customizing and the new shit like drift and drag(and those modes didn't interest me for long). Its just missing many features that made past NFS games great and made you want to play them more. NFS:HighStakes and NFS3:Hot Pursuit were the pinnacle of the series IMO the PC versions in particular. If you didn't play those games you won't understand.

The Archive / why do people snipe in 99% of all games in euro cafe an gatt« on: May 29, 2004, 04:06:54 AM »
sniping=boring
and yeah I used to snipe alot in cs but that was because lpbs had the advantage in close quarter battles. Seriously people hate on snipers for different reasons. Usually its the power of the sniper rifle in some games which would make them seem overpowered and perhaps the map design which in some cases can make the sniper rifle the only choice if you want to expedite your killcount. For example In UT all you needed to do was hit the upperthird of the body to get a headshot and if you had an amp you almost had something like a hitscan version of the redeemer(well that one kinda goes to the mini w/amp but you get the idea) Hell in that game you could own with it at close range as well as long as you had fairly good aim, not to mention it had an insane firing rate. Then you had maps like Face where you camp on top a tower in outerspace and spawn rape players on the other side of the map. In some other shooters all you need to do is hit any part of the body with the sniper(while the guy talking the bullet has full hp) and its +1 for you. Also people may hate it because its simply point and click and the guy in your scope is a goner and you're doing it from far away while the other poor sap is working his ass off to get in close so what the sniper is doing "doesn't require skill". It all depends on the game, weapon balance, maps etc. I've seen games where the sniper rifle was nerfed because it was "too powerful". My ][c _________________

PC Gaming / Amazon.com has UT2004....« on: March 22, 2004, 10:32:59 PM »
I preordered the SE version of 2k4 SE at Amazon since 3rd March(hopefully I'll get it either tomorrow or Wed).
Back then the SE and the Regular version were $40 US(just about everywhere that was selling both versions). Now you'll have a really hard time if you want the SE version anywhere on the net. Demand for that version was high. Amazon stopped taking orders for the SE version about two weeks before the game was released. So most of you will have to settle for the regular version and handle half a dozen cds. Anywhere that has the SE will probably have it at a significantly higher price than it was back then. I heard Atari hinted at a dvd rerelease though but that could take a while. |
