Media / First Official 2D Trailer for Jackass 3D Arrives Online
« on: August 06, 2010, 02:31:14 PM »
This sh!t is funny lol

And they're off! The first official (non-3D) trailer for Jackass 3D, the third movie from the crazy Jackass crew, has arrived online (embed courtesy of Cinema Blend). I'm not really the biggest fan of these guys or this show anymore, but I've got to say, this looks pretty damn fun. I personally won't be seeing it in 3D just because I feel like that's definitely a gimmick in this. I don't know how, but these Jackass  movies continue to make money in theaters and I'm sure this one will be a giant hit as well. I'd love to sit behind a jet plane in a lounge chair (kidding, but that does look fun). Check it out and don't worry, it's a green band trailer.

Media / Unstoppable starring Denzel Washington
« on: August 06, 2010, 02:26:45 PM »
The first trailer for Unstoppable, the upcoming Tony Scott runaway train action movie starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pine, Rosario Dawson, a few others. Unfortunately this just looks so outrageously cheesy, we've heard every line in it before, and I couldn't find any part of that I was actually looking forward to seeing in its entirety on the big screen. It also just looks like the guy from Taking of Pelham 123  (meaning Denzel) going toe-to-toe with Captain Kirk when he was still on Earth driving trains. I get what they were going for, but I really don't think this looks good. Enjoy!

THQ has big gaming tie-in plans for the future, and appropriately enough, it is starting with the 22nd-century sci-fi shooter series Red Faction. The publisher has teamed with the NBC Universal-owned cable channel SyFy to produce a two-hour movie pilot called Red Faction: Origins, which will air around the time Red Faction: Armageddon launches in March.

Scouting a new mainboard for that fancy new Phenom II X6 CPU you just picked up? You might want to hold off a minute, particularly if you're also planning on shopping for a few new GPUs as well. Hot Hardware has managed to get their paws around an upcoming motherboard from ASUS, the CrossHair IV Extreme. Much like the Maximus III Extreme that we spotted last November, this one also ships with the RoG Connect feature, enabling a secondary Bluetooth device (like a netbook or smartphone) to tweak overclocking settings from the sidelines. What really makes this one stand out, however, isn't the compatibility with all Socket AM3 Phenom and Athlon CPUs, nor the fancy new 890FX chipset. No -- it's the inclusion of Lucidlogix's nearly-forgotten Hydra solution, which allows users to mix-and-match GPUs (makes and models are no matter here) in order to create the most from whatever graphics cards you have sitting around. There's no mention of when this fellow will ship, but we'll be keeping an eye out at Computex just in case.

article from gamingunion.net on Battlefield 3.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 hasn't even hit retail shelves yet, but already there's been sparse talk of the inevitable release of Battlefield 3. In an interview with Fredrik Liliegren, the CEO of DICE from 1988 to 2000, and Studio Manager of DICE Canada from 2001 to 2006, Liliegren told GamingUnion.net what he could about Battlefield 3.

Gaming Union: How do you think the Battlefield series has developed since you left DICE?

Liliegren: Well I knew that they were going to the console route because the numbers on the PC where dwindling. I know what they were talking about on the PC side for [the next] Battlefield, and they haven't announced any of that yet, after three years, so I know what's coming, and I still can't talk about it because I'm still under NDA (non-disclosure agreement).

I mean Battlefield Heroes is something that we talked about back when even Jeff [Evans] was working at DICE, in regards of taking Battlefield into a micro-transaction type model. We actually worked on that initial prototype for that here in Canada, just to see how we would split it up from a design standpoint.

I think for the console side, the first outing on [Xbox] 360 and PS2 and Xbox was really weak because we didn't have a single player experience. I think that Bad Company 2 is going to be really good because I think these guys are really smart and they learned the lesson. What the PC version is going to be, Battlefield 3, I think it's going to absolutely blow everyone away, but I can't tell you what it is, but it will blow people away.

    GU: Even after 3 years?

Liliegren: That's why it's going to blow people away, because it's not Modern Warfare 2 PC, it's not that experience.

Considering Liliegren no long works for DICE, his opinion of the game is likely a lot more honest than you'd hear from any current executive. DICE has themselves confirmed that they've been developing Battlefield 3 for some years.

Will the next Battlefield game be mind blowing? Rumor also has it that will have the Frostbite 2 engine. After all these years of little leaks about the game, would you expect it to be anything less than a hit?

Rumor: Battlefield 3 to go Multi-Platform

The former CEO of DICE, Frederick Liljegren, wouldn't be too surprised if the next installment of the Battlefield series, Battlefield 3, found its way onto the consoles in addition to a PC release. While, obviously, this is merely speculation on the part of a former CEO of the company, there is some basis in his statements.

During his time with DICE, Frederick Liljegren worked on the PC side of things, but reports that the franchise was likely moving towards console releases when, or if, the next Battlefield segment rolled out due to declining numbers of PC users (though Battlefield 3 will still be available for PC).

While details are still transparent, at best, surrounding the new release, judging by the tone of the press release given by Liljegren, be prepared to have your mind blown.

Again, nothing is confirmed so far as Battlefield 3 is concerned. Just sit tight and wait for official details to be revealed about the game that every Battlefield fan is eagerly waiting for.

Pitchman Billy Mays Found Dead

TMZ has confirmed TV pitchman Billy Mays was found dead today in his home in Tampa, Florida early this morning.

According to the Tampa PD, the 50-year-old TV pitchman was found unresponsive by his wife Deborah at 7:45 AM.

TMZ has learned Mays' body has already been removed from his home.

Mays had just returned from Philadelphia, where he shot a new OxiClean commercial. He was a passenger aboard a plane that suffered a blown front tire upon landing. He told a local TV station, "All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

We're told Mays was at his home around 6:00 PM last night, and according to a source Mays was "acting fine and normal ... he was talking business with his father-in-law."

According to cops, there are no signs of forced entry to the residence and no foul play is suspected.

The Medical Examiner's office is expected to complete the autopsy by tomorrow afternoon.

Billy's wife Deborah just released the following statement:

Although Billy lived a public life, we don't anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times.

According to a post on The Feed at G4, EA COO John Pleasants has confirmed that Battlefield 3 is in development. Right now, G4 is our one and only source for this info so we're waiting for something more official from EA/DICE. Here it is so far, according to G4:

Criterion Games working on a Need For Speed game wasn't the only surprising bit of news that Electronic Arts chief operating office John Pleasants tucked into his presentation at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference I listened to today. Pleasants confirmed he's seen DICE's work on Battlefield 3.

"I've had the luxury of looking at Battlefield 3 over at DICE in Sweden and was highly impressed by the way the team is working on that product," he said. "Of course, that's not [coming out] in the fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good."

Gamers worried that Battlefield: Bad Company, Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield 1943 were a three-pronged answer to fans demanding a third Battlefield don't have to worry. Battlefield 3 is coming!

You can see the original post at g4tv.com.

Some people have speculated that the game being referred to is actually Bad Company 2. However, EA's current fiscal year ends on March 31, 2010. Bad Company 2 is slated for release in Q1 2010, before the end of this fiscal year. Unless Bad Company 2 has been delayed again, it looks like he is indeed talking about something totally new.
