Just finished watching this. Can't understand the hate some people are giving it. I thought this was a solid movie, telling a simple story about Rome's Ninth Legion. The best thing was the violence. This movie was BRUTAL. Very, very brutal. Violence so good that not even 15mins into the movie, my eyes were already welling up with tears. Definitely worth a watch.
UPDATE - It's been confirmed that this is the short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, which was made as a test film for a feature R-rated Mortal Kombat movie from Warner Bros. Pictures.
UPDATE 2 - No movie. However we are getting a 9-episode web mini-series. Should be awesome. Be on the lookout - April 12th, 2011 (on Machinima).
UPDATE 3 - Title of Web Series is now officially MK Legacy
Love these guys' Youtube channel so I watched their movie. Didn't expect much from a movie based on a Youtube channel but it was just hilarious. Definitely see it especially if you already like their stuff.
"Commander Shepard is coming to the big screen. The elite soldier–and star of the hit sci-fi video game Mass Effect–is getting a feature film on top of his successful games series. For Legendary Pictures has signed a deal with Electronic Arts and Bioware for the property and they are in talks with writer Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend) to draft a screenplay based on the epic game. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce the movie with Avi and Ari Arad. The centerpiece of the game is Shepard and his team’s mission to defeat an ancient alien race that invades the galaxy every 50,000 years."
Dunno if you guys read about this movie JJ Abrams has been working on without any media attention until the last few days. People thought his next movie was gonna be the sequel to Star Trek in 2012, however it turns out he has a movie coming out NEXT YEAR...some folks have speculated that it's Cloverfield related but it's not.
Warner Bros. has set July 20, 2012, as the release date for the third Christopher Nolan-directed Batman movie.
Batman The studio has barely begun the process of developing the movie; Nolan is in postproduction on “Inception,” but is hammering out a story with David Goyer.
There is no title as this point and no start date.
July is becoming Nolan’s month. “The Dark Knight” opened on July 18, 2008, and “Inception” debuts July 16.
With Batman 3 on the docket, summer 2012 is shaping up to be one of the greater geek movie seasons. Marvel’s “The Avengers” is slated to come out May 4, board game adaptation “Battleship” leaves port May 25, the “Star Trek” sequel beams up June 29, and the rebooted “Spider-Man” swings into theaters on July 3.
I haven't, but seeing as this is Edgar Wright's (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) new flick that alone makes this one of my top anticipated movies for this year.
So I saw this appear on the "scene" a while ago and watched it. It's a pretty decent flick about a wannabe superhero. Nothing spectacular and very low budget (but you can clearly see this in the trailer)...consider it an appetizer for Kick-Ass =] (Overall 7.5/10)
"Lions tells the story of would-be suicide bombers living in the north of England and their plans to make some sort of grand jihadi gesture. Our wannabe martyrs, Omar (Riz Ahmed), Waj (Kayvan Novak), Barry (Nigel Lindsay), Fessal (Adeel Ahktar) and Hassan (Arsher Ali) aren’t exactly the sharpest tools in the box, figuring out schemes such as strapping bombs to crows. And thinking they can bomb the Internet."
Has anyone seen the first two Tetsuo movies? From what I've read this isn't really a sequel, as each movie is standalone with the same general theme (a guy turning into...well watch the trailer lol). Apparently this one is the first American co-production (you decide if that's good or bad).
Same guys who brought us the greatest war miniseries ever - Band of Brothers (Spielberg, Hanks) now bring us this new 10-part miniseries, based on the Pacific Theater of Operations.
