1. I remember 2008 was supposed to be "Year of the Playstation".
2. The fall of HD-DVD and the shock and awe during CES2008 in early January.
3. The water taxi finally coming on stream

THREE firewalls? Why?

Would encryption make a big difference? If mean, if I open up a torrent client, I can see all the IPs of people who are connecting, and in another column I can see whether they are using encryption or not. If the C&D messages are just IP based... encryption wouldn't make a difference, granted prosecution in a criminal court might be more difficult.

That said, I'd be really surprised if anyone actually gets charged in the first place.

"Snake II".

Nothing like some fun, mindless action on the Nokia 1100 to ease up a long day.

What's the real download speed and upload??

Getting 900kbps constant upload from flow via slingbox. Been constant at that for the ~2 months I've had service now. Can't speak about the download speeds for a few days yet.

dread the fact I was paying $500 for 256k just 6 months ago is blowing my mind.

That's like a 40x improvement in speed, for $150 less. Thank the lord for Flow yes.

edit: to be fair, TSTT did lower it to ~$300/month sometime earlier this year. Still amazing tho.

Apocalypto. Already on blu-ray, but worth switching for.

These sacrifice scenes on top of the Mayan temple are drat amazing in 1080p. You can clearly make out every one of the thousands in the crowd as they jump, move, breath, cheer, chant, etc. The movie itself is very good.

^^ Will do, once I get back over in T&T.

I don't know if anyone else caught this, but check this out on the FLOW press release mentioned earlier (the one announcing the 6-->10MB upgrade).

Consumers can purchase an Acer model with Vista starter for $2,999.00 VAT Inclusive at any Courts outlet during the months of December and January. Flow is offering free installation, a free modem and one month complimentary U-click Unlimited 1 broadband service for the first month after purchase. Consistent with all of Flow’s retail offerings, there are no contracts to sign for consumers who wish to avail of its service offering.

Vista... starter?

Wikipedia tells me..

Quote
Windows Vista Starter
Much like Windows XP Starter Edition, this edition sells only in "emerging markets" such as Mexico, Brazil, India, Pakistan, Thailand, People's Republic of China, Indonesia and the Philippines — mainly to offer a legal alternative to using unauthorized copies. Microsoft does not make it available in the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, Australia or New Zealand (although users can install a three day trial-version from the 32-bit DVD).[4]

Vista Starter has significant limitations, such as only allowing a user to launch three applications with a user-interface at once, not accepting incoming network-connections, and a physical-memory limit of 1 GB. It retails only as a 32-bit system.[5] It supports only AMD's Athlon XP, Duron, Sempron and Geode processors, and Intel's Celeron, Pentium III processors and certain models of Pentium 4. The usable portion of the hard disk has a limit of 250 GB. Starter Edition comes with some desktop-wallpapers not found in other versions of Vista.

What's that phrase people are using... for the lose? Yea that.  :shakehead:

I hope it's just a typo on Flow's part. If someone can physically go to courts and check it out, please do. And take pics, please.

Also just noticed TSTT has updated their site, and now actually gives information of their Fair Usage Policy (aka Throttling).

huh?
I consistently get the full 6mb download speed from psn.
Only once or twice has it ever been slower....that being at very peak hours.
Are you running your PS3 wireless? If so, thats the problem. because I ran my ps3 wireless with 100% signal to router and it had a 2mb cap on speed. very weird..

Yup, wireless. Strange. Will try wired when I get a chance.

Dear god, how could I miss Flow upgrading their speed?  :crybaby2:

Not sure if the extra speed will make any difference though. PSN barely gives me more than 2Mb/s for some reason, and I'm not a hardcore enough to do private torrents. I'd like to know if they'll increase the upload speed though (10/1 seems kinda sad).

to the op.. about 1 GB/day (maybe slightly more). I have no idea how it comes up so much, but when I check it, it's rock solid at about 30 GB a month.

Ok is it only me... Vistabella flow finally reached... BUT MY MODEM IS NOT CONNECTING :( ... was told that the entire sando area is suffering problems... The lights for uplink and then downlink blinking but never going online as well as the Link light is not lighted... IS it my box bad as the book says the link light should be showing??

Well that's interesting. Also in San'do, and now my connection over there seems to have died. Not even my slingbox is connecting.

edit: scratch that. Rebooting does wonders.  :awesome:
