Best Gaming Cards for the Money (Tom's Hardware)
« on: April 10, 2007, 06:30:40 AM »
Toms Hardware has a very convenient article that they run each month that details the best video-card that
can be bought within specific price ranges, from sub $100 (US) all the way up to $500-$600.

The latest edition can be found here.

The highlight of the article, however, is a very nice chart which shows a fairly accurate price/performance comparison,
arranged in tiers.  The convention here is that a video-card upgrade should be done to a card that is at least
three tiers higher than the one you currently own, to make the most of the upgrade cost, and to actually see a
significant performance boost.

That I certainly cannot argue with.   :icon_salut:

Loved this article. Similar to one I used on Sharky Extreme.

No real surprises here but a nice one stop point of reference. You can buy blind with their advice.

Wish they didn't put so many categories.

I'd go for something simpler: Sub $100, Sub $200, Sub $300, Sub $500 and done.

4 categories.

Short and Sweet.

They incrementing by all kinda $30 and thing. Ridiculous. Best card for $112.65, Best card for $119.99, lol

Great find.   :notworthy:

Best Gaming Cards for the Money (Tom's Hardware)

The August edition of one of the most comprehensive VGA-card roundups around.

Check it out.

Consider this statement in particular...

Quote
Remember folks: game developers would not cut their own throats by ignoring the massive DirectX 9 user base. If anyone dared to make a DirectX 10 only game, they would limit their market so severely that they'd have to struggle to make any profit at all. Therefore, even brand new PC games that feature DirectX 10 graphics will also support DirectX 9 cards for years to come

So if you're buying a video-card this month, ask yourself this:  Is DX10 that important to me?

^the ongoing question.......

Well DX10 matters not to me unless I'm buying an 8800 card...but those are expensive and out of my price range.....

+ The point that games will be supporting DX9 for years to come...and game developer will be stupid to make a game dx10 only is so darn true..

+ PS3/360 are DX9 I believe so going beyond that is limited for the upcoming years...

(Off Topic... Arc, remember the x1950 priced @ $220 CDN? Well after the sale date, they drop the price too $169CDN, so my uncle went back and get a refund due to the price protection thing :P )

So all in all, good price in the end

What is this gf card you speak of? Is it a card with which you access gf's?

If you mean video card, then the slowest one you should be looking at is a 7950gt. With that, though, you might have to turn down some settings, but still experience great gameplay. Otherwise, 8800 ftw.

Super tech would NOT have such cards. Most powerful i've seen they had is the x1950pro. (which is not too shabby btw). You get the higher end cards at places like circuit zone, the wizz and inter pc, but you hadda prepare to pay through pretty much every orifice of your body.

Wait nah...I KNOWWWW you didnt just diss the cheerios. You eh read my sig or wa?? Hear nah mannnn you lucky I dont know where to find you yes.
