going to purchase a system with this processor, the system would most likely come with vista which i won't like, i would like to know if it is possible to install 32bit xp with this processor or would i need to source a copy of the 32bit version

Either XP or vista 32bit would work fine. Same goes for 64 bit.

you would naturally get a better running system with the 64bit windows xp...

But... there's 64 bit drivers you need to get etc...

I'm using 32bit windows and it works pretty fine on the 3800+
