ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120
« on: January 17, 2008, 07:13:42 AM »
It seems that the mighty Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme has finally met its match.
Building on the success of their BTF-90, we now have....

The ZEROtherm Nirvana

Of course the good folks at Anandtech put this cooler through its paces.
Its a little less expensive than the Thermalright ($45 US vs $65 US), not nearly as big and comes with EVERYTHING YOU NEED, unlike
the Thermalright that STILL requires you to buy fans AND a separate 'bolt-through kit' for socket 939.

Damn you ZEROtherm for not releasing this sooner.
I guess it goes without saying that I want one. :happy0203:

Well I tend to agree with you on this one Arc.

Smaller, fan is already there (though unremovabe), cheaper, and same if not better performance the the Ultra120 Extreme.

Say what, at least we still have "king of the hill" CPU cooling on GATT!!
God is dead.

Though it looks impressive, i'm not tooimpressed by its performance. I much rather go with a Tuniq Tower with on ah dem 120mm fans. But i'll reserve that for the  q9450 gooodness.

If you take a look at the performance charts, you'll see that it actually performs a little bit better than the Tuniq, so I'm a bit puzzled by your comment. ???
What aspect of its performance aren't you impressed with?

Im confused, because looking at the anandtech link you provided, it is clearly a middle of the road performer in terms of temperature under max load and doesnt even approach the higher end thermalright/tuniq models...

Read my 1st post again.  You're looking at the wrong link (BTF-90).  I provided that link as a reference.
This is what you should be looking at.

Finally got my ZEROTherm Nirvana from Newegg today.  Of course I wasted no time in slapping that biatch in.
Was it worth it?  The answer is a resounding 'HELLS YEAH!!!'

Not only is it lighter and smaller than the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, but I could also orient
it to blow air toward the rear exhaust fan, which I couldn't do with the Thermalright, due to its size.
CPU temps at idle actually decreased from 42C to 38C.  It may seem like a small change but consider
the fact that this HSF is using a single 120 mm fan, whilst the same result could only be achieved
by the Thermalright with two 120 mm fans in push-pull.

So yeah...all hail the NEW King of CPU air cooling.

I am happy to award this HSF with the Arcman 'LLLAAAWWWDDDD' Seal Of Approval.
