I think you should definitely have a look at this article before you spend your money:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-gtx,2270.html

Personally, if you looking to go crossfire, I say do it with two HD4850s (or buy a HD4850X2 - 'crossfire on a stick'). HD3870 is a old card by today's standards. Don't bother buying it.

HD4870 is fine otherwise
God is dead.

4870/4890

4870 is the sweet spot card now, great performance for under 200USD

the GTX 260(216) on the green team is in the same class more or less, is just than TWIMTBP type games run a little better on it.

3870 is a waste now, too old a card to be considering to buy brand new.

As someone who recently upgraded to an HD4870 it goes without saying that its the card that's got my vote... In fairness however, i thought some comparisons might be nice - see the links to gpureview.com

btw - the HD4870 is GDDR5

I hope these help.

FELLAZ IM REALLLLLLLLLLLY sorry the card is either the ati 3870DDR4  or the ati 4670 DDR3

not the 4870.....

@Crixx_Creww i guess i like order thats why.... Before this system i had a Quad Core Intel system...because it was intel i decided to go both intel processor and intel board.... now i got the new msi board that has an ATi chipset so i decided on going with an ATi Card as well....

neo check my thread 'plix to halp choose new v/c' there was a discussion on there about the 4870 vs. gtx 260(216), and it's well within your budget too.

here be a link: http://www.carigamers.com/cms/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,38/topic,16280.0/

i went with the sapphire 4870 in the end, better cooler and it should be quieter at stock.

sli/xfire is not an option at your pricepoint. but if you wanna learn about it : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalable_Link_Interface

just think of it as 1=good, 2=gooder but make sure to have the pwr

OK people I think this has gone far enough.

Netizen, no need for the power play. We all respect Arc's unique ability to cook the books and hide incredible pc expenditure from the wife. Nuff respect.

Jason, meh boy, bad idea trying to sell parts locally bought because you'll never ever ever ever get the kinna prices you want to ask for. Your best bet is to go on tuner or put an ad in the papers. I can understand that you paid a lot for your parts to have the satisfaction of a local warranty, but $2400tt for a board that can be had online for less than half that price, even after import, duty and tax insnt going to cut it. Plain and simple.

As for assistance in obtaining a video card, this is the place self to get advice. Here details the most potent cards that you can buy in each price segment. You can take into consideration that you have a crossfire board and MAY want togo crossfire some time in the future and go iwith an ATI offering, or you can go the Nvidia route and take advantage of the Physx enabled and TWIWMTBP'd games. Taking thoes factors into consideration will put you in a position to make the best decision.

Edit* I revived the thread and moved it out of trading grounds.

Reason: Jason asked for advice on which video card he should get. I dont like how this situation was handled. Too many times users are turned off of our site because we are too rough with them. lets take it easy and make the new members feel welcomed. PLEASE!!!

Well said Cap'n.  Took the words right out of my mouth.
My advice, if you want to sell stuff on this forum, do a little research
on the other threads (especially mine) and check the prices of items sold against
their actual prices and you'll notice a trend.

As for a new video card, the first thing you need to specify is your BUDGET.
After that, its easy to narrow down the choices.

The Visiontek is a very good card. I have one in service myself. It has served me well since last October. I recently bought another 512mb card, (Sapphire this time) to party with the Vision in xfire.

But I'd urge you to go with at least the 1gig version. The increased frame buffer is quite useful in some games and at higher resolutions. Locally, you can check Curcuit Zone. They are the only people I have ever seen with a 4870 in stock.
