Which is better crossfire or sli? From what I understand they are a combination of cards.
Also, does anyone have a quad-sli setup, that must be ridiculous...

i not gonna just jump in screaming nvidia

xfire supposedly scales better
but there .....ever present driver issues... holds them back

tri sli performs but gives less than expected performance for the cost of three cards
both xfire and sli have the problem where 2 cards does NOT equate to 2x performance
its varying degrees of 2+ cards = 1.xxx times more power.

Guy wants to offer me a little trade for my new ATi 4850 for a used Nvidia  gtx280...well plus i hadda give him some cash...how much better is that card than my card??

Also the temp of my card so far is around 70-80 degrees Celsius...is that too hot? or should i enable manual fan control and leave it at 55% at all times? which usually brings it down to approx 45-50degrees...

Hmm, I think i'll wait for about 2-3 years when i start to work and stuff, because I may have to build an entire pc from scratch. Sigh. Might just get a 8800sumn or sumting good around that price range. Btw what is the price for a 8800sumn now?

dependin on your price range, I would say go for the HD4870 1GB or the GTX260 (216 core). The lower budget cards would be either the HD4770 or the GTS250.

Believe it or not the GTS250 does even best the 4850 at times because of the 1GB mem. So resolution comes into play here.

BIG QUESTION!!!! I want to go over to the "red" side, but i have a "green" board,  not  to run along the flaming crosses. Rather to get the value of the red paint for the "blue" i give, will the green planes affect how the red tape will stretch? Chakra to those who figure this 1 out lol, but seriously i want to know...

As hard o/c said, you shouldn't run into any probs whatsoever. I am running 750a nforce chipset with a 3870, and before with a 4870. No issues to complain about. The only quip of course is scaling because you can't go xfire on an sli board.
