Might be an April Fools joke...

thought for a second that it might have been a dual GPU variant of the mainstream fermi architecture , which would end up alot faster than the GTX480 due to higher clocks and less power consumption. But 580/2 = 290 very odd number.

If its real it most likely is the Fermi refresh on a smaller process, 32nm likely . 580 cores would only make it slightly more complex than the currant fermi , and the die shrink will cut costs , power and heat significantly will increasing yields.

I think price drops wont be too widspread for the 400 series due to low supply , they will be phased out fast for 500 series variants that are cheaper to produce.

I gonna be getting myself a 480m in time... Hopefully I can sell off my current 280m so it costs less hehe.

By the way I actually already own that laptop in the link, it's indeed a beast. The 480m supposed to better than SLI 285m cards, so I'd be fantastically happy. I just wish I could find a job to actually pay for it XD
