It's pretty nice how they mentioned that keron fights at 155 and adam is 173 - 180 around there. Skill is a factor yes but come on man, let's be realistic here.

Admittedly, I know very little about the local MMA scene. I'm wondering what sort of disciplines the local fighters have access to training in? I'm sure stand up is not a problem (boxing kickboxing, muay thai) but I'm curious about grappling (brazillian jiu jitsu, judo etc) as well as wrestling (freestyle, greco-roman).

well I know from crixx that dwayne trains @ queens park judo club. They've been around since 1996 apparently. So that should be some solid judo there.

we do judo in our mma curriculum at tiger system. judo, jiu jitsu, boxing, taekwondo, kick boxing and karate. We've also got a greco-roman instructor.

there is a kick boxing class going on at the long circular gym on some evenings.

Also, at the cascade dance studio, they've got capoeira. (Last I checked, which was a couple months ago)

Can't forget old standbys like Purple Dragon for some Don Jitsu Ryu (Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Aikido, Weaponry and Kick fit Boxing)

They fought with gi on just like earlier this year when Fedor had his exhibition against Shinya Aoki. I thought his match with Gegard looked good though I'll say the Aoki one was more exciting. In case you missed it:

as for tiger system, it's a local karate school using mixed styles, not unlike purple dragon.

It's the Baka Survivor!!! Holee Crap. Haven't seen him fight in a while. I love watching Aoki work rubber guard. He has a psychotic double kung fu move thing that he used to get a two sided gogo from mount on some dude. I think it was Joachim Hansen or something.

I've been to what I think is the Tiger System School. Not very impressed but I suppose something is better than nothing.

Exar, as far as grappling goes, the best art we have down here is Judo. The guys that dominate the local MMA scene are generally Judoka.

Yes, Hinds does fight at 185 in that area.

both adam and dwayne are solid judoka. Adam being a black belt and dwayne being blue
they both also train at torakan dojo, dwayne also does greco roman. Torakan does ... a version of krav maga.

There are a few other judoka from qpjc and also from the southern academy that are mma worthy.
I know some judoka from qpjc will be following in adam and dwayne's footsteps as they are the top students of qpjc.

There is a judoka in my weight class 230 and up named hashim, hes about 6'6,6'7 bout 250 or so
we call him hashim the destroyer, took top place in heavyweight at last judo tourney, he would be excellent for the weight class in mma.

Lyoto looks considerably more...human...against Shogun. The veneration people held him in before is certainly tempered.
