Brite-View CinemaTube

Model no: BV-5005HD

Shortlist of features:

 - It supports multiple Video formats in VCD 1.0/2.0, SVCD, MPEG1 (DAT/MPG/MPEG), MPEG2 (MPG/MPEG/VOB/ISO/IFO/TS/TP)/M2TS, MPEG4 (MP4/AVI/MOV) , DivX 3/4/5/6, Xvid (AVI/MKV), H.264/AVC (TS/AVI/MKV/MOV)/M2TS, VC-1 (TS/AVI/MKV/WMV)/M2TS, WMV9 (WMV), FLV, Real Video 8/9/10 (RM/RMVB * up to 720p); multiple Audio formats including DTS and Dolby Digital.

 - It can play media files off USB storage devices (in NTFS, EXT-3, FAT and HFS+) or on computers connected to the same network.

 - It has build in UPnP support! See the Specifications tab for supported video formats.

 - It supports ISO files, so you can navigate the DVD menu and watch your videos like a regular DVD!

 - With built-in bit torrent support, you can share/download media files on the Internet and enjoy them on your TV, PC free.

 - It supports file sharing, so you can access your CinemaTube attached hard drive from the comfort of your computer.

 - Built in Flickr support lets you search for pictures via the Internet allowing you to show a variety of photos from your TV.

So far I've only used it for Wi-Fi video streaming.  Went through all 13 eps of Spartacus without a hitch.  As one file done,
the next one started.  No muss, no fuss.  Updated firmware twice since I got it...seamlessly over wi-fi.

If you buy this one...you get the wi-fi dongle recommended by Brite-View to work.

Best 120 US I ever spent.

You WANT this.  Full stop.

That is a real good price. What two games?

Arc, I been watching the Seagate FAT cut eye for some time. It looks very similar to that Brite View Cinema tube.

http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FreeAgent-Theater-Player-STCEA201-RK/dp/B002MZZWT0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1272725958&sr=8-1

Came highly recommend from Zebra (another techie padner) but I currently use a laptop to do "TV-Out" duties for movie watching in the living room. Running media center.

I get the feeling these aren't a superior option but a cheap alternative.

What sayest though?

Also, I heard tversity + the PS3 can achieve about the same streaming ability of this setup. Again, I get the inkling that a laptop does a better job (it is the most expensive of the three, so that figures)

Nice device. I bought the Xtreamer after Carnival and I'm loving it so far. Came with a free Wifi antenna too. I don't

really use it that much since I don't trust playing 1080p over wireless. Had any issues play any file files so far? Mine won't play

certain flv files that I downloaded online. I also won't play some of my old SD videos from Gametrailers (old vids from 2006-2007)

Interested in getting another media player. Got one of those WDTV ones a while back for the parents. Now looking for one to use with a few extra features such as wifi etc.

That Brite-View looks decent, noticed this "stream online contents like CBS, CNN, ESPN, Hulu etc from UPnP devices (with 3rd parties apps like PlayOn installed in computers). " have you played with any of those addons? Having that kind of flexibility could come in handy.

That is a real good price. What two games?

got re5 and nfs undercover...

already beat up re5 for pc so prolly gonna trade that or use it as a loan game with other ps3 men.. (which i think is cool for single player type games)

@ the ps3... so i've heard but... i've heard something about it either needing a ps3 media server or windows media center networking enabled and configured...

will check it out in due time

and lol @ larry

Why? more power/performance, sleeker look and longer battery life at the same weight as my current netbook
